I'm an armorsmith with not a lot of time on my hands anymore and was wondering what the best way to advance through the tree is. Up to now I have Deflectors 1,2 and 3. But my MK.2's aren't anywhere as good as my 1's. I'm not sure why, but they aren't. Which means my buisness is giong down. So I'm currently working on Tech 1 so i can make it better. Anyway I need to know what the BEST ore, gas, steel, metal etc...Needed to make the best Shields. Thanks for the help.

Don't worry so much about materials yet, go up the Tech tree. The extra experimentation points will make a huge difference in your Mk2's and 3's before better materials will.

However as for materials, simply look at the experimental properties of what you're making. You can find them either in your datapad schematic listing or in the lower right hand window of your crafting tool. Find materials that have a good mix of the stats listed the expirmental properties listed.

Ya, you should climb the Tech skills before most anything else.

It makes such a huge difference.. I have Tech4 and made my first mk2 last night... all secondary stats 18%, primary stat 15%.

JeffMasterJeff, PSGs are good, because they have 0 encumberances. A mk3 does block all types of damage I believe. The mk2 and mk1 block less types.

I just hit Deflectors 1 last night, and when I went to start making the new stuff that skill gave me, the blueprints weren't showing up in my Clothing and Armour crafting tool. Do I need a different type of tool to make PSGs, or do I just need to be using a crafting station as well as the tool? Thanks for helping.

You need to be using a crafting station. I don't know offhand if it requires a personal station or not though.

and just to make you more mad ( I was whenI found out) not only do have to wait till def 2 to make them you will need 2 (power conditioner & energy distributor) parts only a master artisan can make. So you will have to find one or become one yourself.

you have to have a personal crafting station to make psg components. now to actually make psgs you have to have deflectors 2 to craft mk1

Ive heard someone say that PSGs actually recharge themselves once you unequip them. I mean their condition goes back up. Is this true? if so the wookies will love me

Short answer: no.

Styx has proposed an idea of shields with a normal armor like condition number and a much lower number that is the protection number and would recharge, but in game now they simply act like normal decaying items and don't recharge.

Maybe I did something wrong but the PSG Mk III's I just made have several vulnerabilities including Kinetic. Am I doing something wrong? Always made armor before and prolly won't make any more PSG's if this is normal. What a waste of a helluva lotta resources. /sigh

Theoridicly they have no vulnerablities, but in practice what a shield will protect against changes randomly when you cross server boundaries, log, sneeze, etc. Also you have to unequip and reequip them before fights to ensure the system realizes that you have it on. This issue has been an issue since beta, and it has still not been fixed.
