I've been getting more and more requests for "cheater" sets, but I'm not sure I want to sell them. How long has this reverse armor hole existed, and when do you think it will be fixed? I wouldn't want to end up with a lot of excess sets, but I suppose I could just make the extra parts for that if I needed to. What remains is the moral question....

I stock em. Full sets are a waste of my resources and my customers' money. I call them "Mini-Suits" though. It sounds better when the CSR's talk to you.

I too stock mini-suits, and charge 135k / suit (100k to guildies!)
The way I see it, the dev's can't be too bothered about it, or they would've changed it by now.

I was doing this (wearing the cheater set) but noticed damage was getting through. especially on NPCs has anyone confirmed that this still works on the production servers

It works in PvE still, as my ranger still wears a cheater set. All my other chars are styling in maberi or padded, so they wear full sets. Just stock it as parts, you don't have to put it in bags. That way, people get just what they want, and you can run more of the parts that sell best.

How much do you charge relative to a normal suit? Half? The same?

I wouldn't make these as PvP suits. I have noticed this lack of armor on some folks and I also notice the hits that are going through are action hits.

I love dueling people wearing these sets when I hit a StoppingShot to a piece of armour they aren't wearing
Or a FlameSingle2 for that matter.

Longish explanation follow:
A long time ago there was the armor hole, and it was bad. Damage would passeth right through full suits of armor, and give damage unto the wearer. Then the DEVs claimed they had fixed the armor hole, and ther was much rejoicing. But then the armor hole reappeared, and there was much dispair. Then the DEVs claimed they had again fixed the armor hole, and again there was much rejoicing. Then a third time the armor hole emerged, and again there was much dispair. So the DEVs said, @#(*&@ this, hacked the code, claiming the armor hole was fixed finally and would never reemerge, and there was a third rejoicing.
Basicly the first two "fixes" of the armor hole were finding and closing various slots such as the backpack slot or the eyeglasses slot where if shots hit those areas armor protection would be voided. The third time the DEVs said screw it, and hacked the hit zone and damage distribution system so that if the person was wearing a "full suit" of armor, the system would shunt damage to the nearest peice of armor so the shots would be blocked. This wasen't really a fix, more of a hack. The "cheater suits" arose when people discovered that "full suit" for composite armor ment chest, helm, boots and gloves. As such, people stopped wearing leggings and arm peices. This works in PVE with the exception of high level mobs like nightsisters, but it dosen't work so well in PVP.
So yeah, cheater suit (interesting name) are comp chest, helm, boots and gloves. They provide almost complete protection without the extra encumbrence.
