It's pretty easy to create a macro that will simulate the crafting process. The problem arises in how to get the resources loaded.

You gotta click to do that.

The only way to completely afk crafting is with a third party program. However, this is in violation of Sonys EULA and you could be banned for using one. So, not worth the risk IMO.

the slow grind gives you pride in knowing you earned the right to claim the appropriate title..armoursmith, weaponsmith,..etc...

you should only get what you deserve...for AFKer's...i think it would be grand IF...

1) a rebel afk's FP's in korvella(for example) killing stormtroopers as they spawn outside of the spaceport...after 20 minutes or so....a full battallion of CL 60 troopers show up instead of the four CL25's...and kill the reb....if afk...the 30 minute resurrection time would transpire and they forever lose their toon...

2)loot pirate toons inside of caves ...have a similiar experience ...like inside the force crystalhunter's cave....except that 20-30 CL 77-79 sith appear instead of 2-5 CL 60 untrained weilders of the dark side....

things like these would quickly put an end to the ABUSE ( not use) of AFKs.....it should be a "break glass in case of emergency...not what is going on right now....the twisting and manipulation of a bonus aspect of the game...still not quite sure why the devs still alllow the AFKer's to continue "playing" their toons....when in essence they are cheaters...they don't "earn" the xp they are "awarded"...they sitting in another room doing homework, watching movies, talking on the phone...etc....

simple question....do you get paid for not going to work...why do these AFKer's get their paycheck for playing hooky...

ain't nothin' like rewarding inappropriate behaviour....YAY!!!

Yeah, you can craft AFK easily. Totally legit, too. Use a factory.

I'm not all for afk looters and such, but I'd like to point out that we pay our money to play this game. I would also like to emphasize GAME. It's a game, games are meant to be entertainment. If someone doesn't want to sit for 3-20 making items that won't be of any use to anyone just to build up experience so they can make the next round of items...and so on until master...and there IS a way around it (although there is risk to using it) then is that person really somehow a "bad" person?

I understand the feelings of those who put a lot of time and effort into doing things their way, but does that mean that their way is the best, and if someone finds a better, more effecient way to reach their goals they shouldn't take it? I'm sorry but just because you had to take the long way doesn't mean that everyone does, and if they don't they certainly don't deserve any wrath because of it.

if they dont want to "get better" at what they do ingame, they should craft what they can craft and try to make a living on that.

As for the cheaters who use 3rd party macro programs to grind xp, they should be shot through the lungs and buried in quicksand. After that their chars shuold be wiped and creditcard burned.

The goal of games like these without a real way to complete are the feeling of acheievement, if i sit at my comp craft stuff, and learn the ways of it i feel i have acheieved something when i reach master, is someone else comes up to me and asks me about crafting even though he is himself master and i know that if he had played the profession instead of having his macro program grind it for him he would have known. Then i would feel kind of cheated that he made it so easy and also annoyed because my "hard" acheievement isnt as hard anymore.

If you want to cheat and feel UBER you should go play a single player game where your exploits dont ruin the gaming experience for other people.

hehe...might be a bit extreme, but I do agree. There should be a definite risk to using programs of this nature proportional to the advantage they give you, (i.e. extrememly unfair = ban)

I don't completely agree about the goals of the game, because that's a personal goal. My goal is just to have fun and help out and enjoy the community setting (sans teeney boppers). When I got through my first crafting profession I know more than a lot of masters and that felt pretty good when they'd come to me with questions, but I also did a lot of research on what worked and what didn't, and I found that a lot of things apply across different crafting professions. I believe the kind of player you're talking about is the person who speaks in uber-leet phrases like pwned a lot, the kind of gimme now cause I want it, and give no respect to anyone or anything who helped person, which I sadly see growing exponentially on the servers every day.

But those people would be annoying with or without macro's.....they're just not fun people to be around. But in essence you're right, break the rules and you should be banned, and 3rd party programs are against the rules.

Actually....to tell the truth, I think there's more of a demand for the low-end armorsmith than there ever has been. With looted cores and mitigation like it is the novice armorsmith has a very large market to take advantage of, thus eliminating the need to "grind"....just wish they hadn't done it at the expense of complexity.

I'm sorry to have to say this, but you guys actually saying things like you feel a real sense of achievement playing these games and grinding all hours you have free makes me realise that SoE is breading a sad bunch of morons without any life outside of SWG. Why dont you try going out and Really achieveing something with your lives and doing voluntary work for charities, and play games for what they were meant for:- a break from the norm. Never let them become the norm.

There are real people in the real world that could use your help. Giving it feels better than just throwing a lightsaber at a nuna and watching its polygon head falling to the ground. also its free. No game can ever provide the same feelings of satisfaction that helping others gives you.

AFK crafting was never intended. Nor should it ever be allowed. I think if cheats everyone, including the person who did it. You don't learn anything and you don't do any planning (like resource hoarding for specific items) while doing the grind.

In the end, you end up doingmorecrafting once you hit master just to figure out what's going wrong. By this time, you're XP gain means nothing and you're just a MAS poser. You can't answer any questions from customers and you have no idea what resource you're going to need the most/least.

Same with any combat profession. You should learnhow to useyour specials, what abilities they have, what your weapon of choice is, etc.as you go up the trees in order to play the toon effectively.

In regards to Clok's last paragraph...

I started putting uplower-end armor (around 5000 base for most) on my bargain vendor from about 2 weeks ago andit tends to sell better than the capped stuff.

Believe it or not, there are still newbs out there wearing 2000 base armor (had one come in yesterday).

Also, since you mentioned the 3rd party thing being against the rules etc and how it is unfair. I class these forums as 3rd party asyou can not access them in game. You all use them to benefit your trading etc, and forbuilding up your trade. Talk about double standards.
