Thread: A Composite World

Now today is seeing the release of the first Wookiee armor, and there's another set on the way (good for them! They shouted and got it), maybe the rest of us can have some more please Mr.Devs?

Last night I was in Coronet at the starport waiting for the shuttle (starsider) there were (i counted) 43 people waiting for the shuttle.

---27--- had FULL composite suits on, and a further ---4--- had helmets with other parts on them.

I'll probably take a screenshot or two over the course of this week to prove my point that this world is filled with one type of armor - composite.

And when you devs DO add new armor (RIS) you make it so its impossible to make for 99.9% of all master armorsmiths by making one key component (Giant Dune Kimo Scale) is virtually NEVER dropped or found.

The rest of us players need variation to stop this game from looking visually REALLY stupid. We need 5 or 6 sets of new armor that Armorsmiths can craft themselves from just levelling their profession.

Armor that is or some that can be as good as Composite or is slightly less but has advantages (ie less ham average than composite or something)

Mr.Devs please look at the most obvious basic stunningly blatant thing VISUALLY when people enter this world you have created, make it more interesting than seeing a Composite Clone Army everywhere we go! Please we emplore you!

I totally agree. Imagine howhow much worseit would be if they were not letting us recolor it?

I completely agree. As it is, I have all but stopped making armor entirely. Of all the armor available, I only make Ubese because it is the most well rounded armor in my opinion (Ubese will survive the coming armor nerf). I have made one set of composite and I will never make another (and I've been an armorsmith since november) because the market is over saturated and most everyone wears it. The sad thing is, Composite was initially created with so many resists and so few vulnerabilities, that there really isn't much that can be done when adding new armor. Regular composite segments should be what people are using and advanced composite segments should be made from difficult drops or quests. That would have allowed for options for expanding since you leave a lot of room in the middle. But then again, I typically think ahead when I plan things out. All is not lost, however. Resist combinations can still be added.A Kinetic / Energy based special resistance armor anda stun special resistance armor are just examples. The good news is since SOE has encouraged a totally first person shooter with highly customizable character scenerio instead of a true roleplaying one, what it looks like and the storyline behind it wont matter one bit.

But I'm not sure what else to expect from a company that gives you combat droids and takes away the armor. What are the composite segments for when creating droid armor if they don't actually add any armor?

While I would not say AS and DE are a complete waste of time, they are certainly the most embarassing crafting professions. How fitting I am a master of both. LOL.

I would bet quite a bit that they are going to implement faction armor for us within the next few publishes. Hopefully, if they are smart, they will make faction armor worth wearing over composite, and in order to have the "best suit" you have to be aligned, and possibly (hopefully) overt. Then it might actually become a civil war. Then composite will only be for the neutrals.

Would be nice to get a stat revamp on some armor....i think we are spoiled with composite...and each armor should have a specific role in protection, and if there is a good "all around" armor, it should be RIS and/or mandolorian depending on the difficulty of making it. But they really can't go back on that without making even more people quit SWG.

Personally, I love the idea. After all, well rounded game play and a more enjoyable experience for those who stay is well worth more people quitting SWG. I grew tired of the lag a long time ago. But then again, we're talking about a company that forces you to purchase a second account in order to play a second character (for when you get bored doing the same thing over and over and need a new look to do the same thing over and over again with). So, it's obviously all about the money.

What we ought to do is this. Apparently SOE does respond to mass threats of quitting (hense the crafting change withdrawel from publish 7). Why not get a few hundred people to threaten to quit if they don't diversify and fix the armorsmith profession? Once again, I'm glad to see body paint and neon hairstyles take precidence over the numerous armorsmith problems and bugs since release. =)

But then again.. maybe it's just me.

(and please realize that I am just venting here. No harm, no foul, eh?)

how i see it is all armor should be like ubese (except comp)aka so you could make 70% heat layerd adv mabri and htey should change chitin into something else then ken like maybe electricity. also if they could make RIS have 70% stun layerd kina thing, it would be alot easer to make because it wont be some best armor in the game BS, but it would still have it uses.

I agree that the armor types should be a little bit more specialized- I just recently started using Ubese (love it too) and looking at the composite set I also bought it doesn't seem to make a lot of sense to me why I would want tohave armor that's good against everything- I think armors should be more like ubese, suited very well to one or two types and the rest average resists. That was there'd be a a little more strategy in picking weapons and you wouldn't see everyone running around with the exact same armor and weapon because they work the best. If I see a guy in bone armor, I know to use a kinetic weapon- but with composite, it doesn't matter much and I just pick the biggest gun.

Iagree Drewpey.

See the problem is that in order for them to add something that is a viable piece of armor, its going to have to be comparable to composite. Otherwise, no one will wear it. People are going to wear the best they can get when it comes to PvP/GCW stuff. Thats just how its going to be. This may mean either nerfing composite, or accepting that everything is going to be just like it. Maybe we should take a poll on this or something.

We just need something else. Stormtrooper and Marine armor would be a start. The Marine armor is terrible though, looks wise. I think its based on the Mon Cal armor, so we need something new for Rebels too, but Marine would be better than nothing.

I think they should allow smiths to craft faction armor. It is getting boring seeing all these declared imperials in composite. If stormtrooper armor could be made comparable to composite, I'm sure a lot more of thenm would be wearing it. It would look far cooler seeing a bunch of stormtroopers raiding a city than a bunch of people in composite.

How about putting your money where your mouth is, to get the AS community to get moving on other armor?

I just did. http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=armorsmith&message.id=41602

Feel free to do the same for your own servers. Maybe we can take the initiative ourselves...

You would have to make mutiple armor types with the same exact stats of comp or better.

As long as Comp is the best for protection, ppl will wear it, even if there are 50 different types out there.
