Thread: Behold the Chitin Armor Warriors

I was bored one day... . I had a huge excess of Dantooine Bone and Metal. So I decided to make myself a simple set of Advanced Chitin. Bam a 60% set of Kinetic Resistance Chitin. Over all, 25% Lighter HAM then Ubese, Allot cheaper to make!

I then made a second set of Chitin and gave it to a friend. We went into battle. Hello Force Crystal hunters, Pikets, Vortiors, Rancors, Nigthsisters..

The comparision was, Chitin isas good as Ubese or better. Sure the 10-18% Kinetic difference is there, but the less HAM cost for a special spammer (fencer) was noticed. Being a Master Melee Profession I recommenda Light HAM Kinetic Resistance Chitin Set of Armor. Its cheaper to maintain. I need a new set of armor every week. Even with repairs!! I burn through a set like nothing. A simple set of Chitin can provide the same protection at a third of the price of Ubese.

As Armorsmiths I think we all need to explore other armors.

It was sad walking around in full Chitin armor and getting tells asking what I was wearing. =( "Its Chitin Armor" ... "Oh Chitin, Bah Chitin sucks!"

I'll let your expensive Composite HAM draining armor kill you. I'll let your expensiveUbese drain your bank account. All the while I'll wear my Bug armor and look like a Insect space warrior for under 30k.

Make a set of good advanced Chitin, give it to a master melee and ask them to wear it.

Are there any segments you can put into Chitin to increase the base resists?

I've always liked Chitin armor. It was the first type of armor I ever bought, it looks cool. And when Scylla was only a few days old, wearing it made me a minor celeb I'd spring for 60% chitin anyday. Too bad no one sells it.

There's a large variety of things that can be added. Rancor hide, fambaa hide, voritor hide. (NOT the segments, but the segment enhancers). Any sort of segment enhancer you can find, can go into chitin. Also, some creatures drop ready made chitin segments, with various special protections.

Sharnaff, Kliknik, and Bracaset all have useable chitin segments. in addition, the Kliknik segments have high HAM DROPS. ie instead of a 5% base effectiveness, and HAM costs of 6,7,6 for example, they have a 5% base resist and ham costs of -6,-7,-6 which means they lower the final HAM costs of the armor even more, sometimes nearly half the enc of normal chitin.

People should look into ALL the various armors. When hunting simple enemies, adding voritor segment enhancers to advanced mabari makes a 27% resist kinetic suit of Mabari with high Energy resist, and virtually NO HAM costs ( a MonCal artisan can slap on the full suit without a buff)

Tantel and higher all take factory segments. Chitin and Mabari do not. If you tailor your armor to what you hunt, you can get yourself a really nice set of protection, at a fraction of the 350K plus tag on Composite, no buffs needed. Much better for combat dabblers, novices, etc than a full suit of HAM-eating armor, low level missions it takes a full set of missions (5 or 6 runs) to pay for the buffs alone, that's a bit much for someone who has no need for the uber pvp armors.

Composite is still the be-all end-all for PVP and such, but don't let anyone tell you it's the only armor worth having, there's a lot of alternatives (yes, including faction armor. Less resists by far, but HAM costs are a fraction as well). Next time you want to go hunt some critters... take a second look at Sharnaff, who drop Scaly hide and segments for chitin.. and get yourself a suit that will protect nearly as well as Ubese with a fraction of the HAM costs.

Or, for the ultimate in price cutting....go snag some voritors. they have a small chance of segment enhancers that boost kinetic resists, and can be used inany armor, including chitin or mabari, or even bone.

No I don't have a freakin sig. Just make something up and pretend it's here man. woman. umm...Whatever.

My alt Athamus made my Chitin armor. He made 3 sets to give out. If you want Maccus you can supply a few hides, bones and segments. I'll make you a nice free set. I noticed many armorsmiths stick to Composite or Ubese. I decided to make Chitin. With good Vortior Segments and the right materials I am sure I can make better then 60% Kinetic.

Supply a few materials and you'll get your chitin set for hardly nothing. To make Advanced chitin I need Dantooine Animal bones and Doonium Iron. The better the materials your provide the better armor you'll get.

Get High Quality Bone, Leathery hide, Scaley Hide, Ferrous Metal, Polymer andWooly hide. Look for OQ, SR and Malleability.

All you will need to pay for is the amount of Tailor items it requires Fiberplast panels/Reinforced Panels and materials you didn't provide. I think I priced a entire advanced set around 30k if you provide nothing. If the demand for chitin became great I know I could not keep up with it. I would never be able to get all the materials by myself in time to meet demand. So I am limiting my hand made custom sets to those who are truly interested in it. At least until I get my business off its feet. Contact Xiana in game via e-mail or tells for further information.

You would have an extra set for sale now ould ya. It'll take a while but i can definately hook you up with enough organics to keep you going in case of a boom in the chitin industry. It'll just take a week or so to fill the order. i'm also a master scout.

i use this stuff all the time, i love it.

I have tested it extensivly and i swear it works better than ubese. i also make what i call mission chiten, its about 32% base 42 kenetic, and i raise the durra up stuff works great and you can get about 22k durra, im hoping they increase the durra more. You can over dbouble the %'s why not the durra, leave the ham exp the way it is but give us a bigger boost when spending out points on durra

To be honest on bria chitin is no cheaper then ubese to make really, what with the costs of harvestables.

some stats

Chitin Chest:
222 harvestables (bone and hide) x50cpu = 11100
62 mineral/chemical x25cpu = 1550
=12650 (cost to make)

Ubese Chest:
80 harvestables x50cpu = 4000
360 mineral/chemical x25 = 9000
=13000 (cost to make)

Which means chitin should be just as expensive as ubese, but there's no way it will sell for as much. These are just base costs. How much it costs me to make each item buying the materials I need at around average bria prices for top notch materials. Basic polymers and metals can be had for less then 25cpu, but named stuff of top quality goes for around that, figure I'd include them at 25cpu too for ease of calculations.

Now my ubese jackets are selling at 60k each. And there's no way I'd be able to even charge 25k per chitin chest, they wouldn't sell.

Heck, I recently deleted around 5 crates of advanced chitin segments to make room in my house. It would have cost me more in materials to make the armor then I could have gotten back in sales.

If I was after a lower ham alternative to ubese, I think I'd go for unlayered ubese. The HAM's would probably be comparable to chitin, with roughly the same kinetic protection. Heck... ham's might even be lower.

I really wish it were different, I like chitin. I despise the looks of ubese. But ubese is so much easier to make

In the case of chitin I think its best to have a relationship with the customers. People are out hunting for xp anyhow. If they take that extra second to gather resources and materials they can trade it in for free armor. The demand for chitin is small because no one makes it. If more armorsmiths would make more chitin more people would want it.

I am fighting the ubese and composite clones. I know for a fact I can make Chitin cheaper then I can Ubese if not better. I am not making armor for sales. I am making it to be different and help those who want to be Chitin Warriors! WooOOoo!!

-Maccus I'll have a full set for you ASAP (this morning 6AM EST) in game e-mail will explain details.
