I have decided to undertake the task of trying to develop armors other than composite. As such, I am not entirely sure what has or has not been done, so I need to have a gage on the quality of my work.
As such, I have 3 pieces of bone armor which are 40% energy, and that is without using an Advanced Bone armor segment or the interwoven layers (which I will use to fill some holes when I hit master AS.)
Anyway, for the resources used, let me know what you guys think of this as an initial attempt, and if there is more that can be done, let me know what you guys have been able to do with Bone armor, so I have something to shoot for, and possibly surpass...

As far as the energy resistance goes, I'd rate that armor an 8.4 out of 10. It's good.

Arent you tired of seeing everyone in composite?
I am.
..and Im doing something about it now, like Zion is.
Im 12pt smith and never yet made comp or ubese.

Good suggestion. However, I was also thinking of trying to hit 40% Energy, 40% Kinetic, for a good, all around starter armor.
Just an FYI, all segments for the bone armor used 8% Energy, 6% Kinetic Voritor Scales.
That, and while I forget the Leather I used (I used it all up), the bone I am using was the last good spawn of Ydi Yavinian animal bones, which I had gathered while everyone else was doing the lokian herb meat last shift.

Only messed around with Chiten a bit but you can get 60% kin, 17% base (Blast, Enargy and acid - I think). or 45% kin, 29% base with advanced Chioten pretty easily.
Encumburance is pretty low as well.. under 200 on all stats normally. (with a 4 piece suit) I would LOWE to see what it is really capable of. I have allways been warry of bone armour as the kinetic resist is normally a vuln. and when you start out most of your killing is creature killing.
Saying that though that bone armour looks pretty sweet... but it is really a very specilised area not many things deal pure enargy... even stormtroopers start pulling punches if you get in close. I woudl market it as "marksman armour".
Good job though on the bone.

Not a bad idea - Marksman armor. I will have to remember that....

Very nice energy resist for not even using an adv segment
I like your idea of putting kin layers into an interwoven seg, but you will be severly limited in output since you need matching cubes for factory runs of segments.

definetly use cubes to enhance condition.. that's one of the main selling points of composite.. simply that it lasts longer. if you can up bone to 20k or so (not likely) then I'm sure people would be more open to buying it. at 9k it simply wears out too quickly to be of much use..
