Tantel is supposed to be an ancient armor type. Apparently, all we know how to make of this ancient armor is the helmet, boots, and chest. This is because .... err... have you read my post about "poop on a stick"?

Most likely the guy in charge of programming tantel spilled his bong-juice all over the keyboard after finishing the helmet schematic. While he was trying to cover up the mess, SoE published the game prematurely. So when his boss asked him for a status report on his project, he came up with the Ancient Armor story.

Why can a creature handler not put pets on the bazar? I know they have to be in deed format and only bio-engineered creatures can be set this way...

It seems to me to be a flaw in the CH system that pets cannot be sold or stored in differant ways.

I know players who buy pets they can't use and will never use just to decorate houses and all this money is going to bio-engineers. I feel as a creature handler I should be able to sell my creatures this way also! I understand that Bio-engineer go to a lot of trouble to craft their creatures and maybe crafted creatures should be (Maybe they already are) better than the wild tames creatures. But please... Give the CH a chance...

It is also great fun taking low lvl pets out hunting and trying to take down large beasts... but it would be usefull to drop these creatures in a house (structure, maybe a new structure type could be a pen, a deployable field which holds an amount of creatures) and pick up your high level creatures... This saves on destroying (releasing) creatures you may have become attached to.

Summery

1. Allow chreature handlers to DEED pets for sale through vendors/Bazar.

2. Allow some kind of storage for pets id cannot be made into deeds.

Just my thoughts... no doubt others have mentioned this before.

Yes this has been mentioned before, along with a Pet stable and such, but for the short term this is not doable due to available resources. This kind of defeats the purpose of having a pet storage limit and falls along the way of storing pets on a datadroid which was a bug at Launch and then later fixed.

As far as selling pets on the bazaar, this would be nice, but not really an aspect of this RPG in terms of being realistic. i.e. pet being told to follow and trust a new master, and probably never seeing his original again.

How about an alternative:
The ability to list pets for sale on the Bazaar more as an advertisement. The pet would remain in your datapad while listed on the bazaar and would not be allowed to be traded or destroyed while the listing is active and upon the pet being purchased on the bazaar, that pet would be flagged as only being tradeable to the player that purchased it. This would allow us to list pets, but not allow us to go over our max pet storage modifier, and would allow for the RPG part of the game.

What do you all think? Pet advertisements listed on the bazaar only because they can't be redeeded.

As a wise man pointed out in an earlier thread the following is why we can't sell pets on teh bazar....

It would allow us to have a nearly unlimited number of pets, instead of the max 22 we can have currently.

Firstly in the nature of role-playing, would it not be considered legitimate to want to play the part of a rare animals dealer as a master creature handler? Or maybe just a run o'the mill pet store owner as a novice?

I would even like to open the market on wild captured pets for the exclusive collector so no matter where you live, you can have your private zoo in your own house to impress your dinner guests. Imagine the prestige in being able to display your tri or wild caught rancors to your business associates. Not just the usual Bio-engineered creatures sold in some scientists Venting station. A real licensed creature caught wild on its home world. With holo evidence of its capture and export to the world of your choice... Maybe you could even be a part of the hunt and bring back the exotic creature of your choice!

Anyway, enough of the role-playing aspect of people who capture pets being able to sell them. How about people who capture pets being able to control them?

This system of only allowing a max number of pet to the level of the creature handler?!? Well I take your point, applied to a modern hunt, take fox hunting with packs of hounds for example. The master of the pack would only be able to control a set number of pets/hounds and this may be a reflection of his skill. But this would not stop him from maybe having extra animals he does not take out on that particular hunt. These would be kept in some kennel/pound and brought out when needed/wanted. This would also give the pack master the chance to best suit hunt to the animal/person (In game of course) being hunted. This should though, be controlled, and maybe any pet put back into the pound/DNA data storage should incur some kind of financial or energy support(as with housing/structures) or have a resource (i.e. food).

But at the moment the game allows Bio-engineers to do everything a creature handler should be able to do. They can have unlimited pets in data form and sell them on the bazaar or through their own vendors for a lot of money? so the Master Creature handler stays a glorified Hyde & bone collector who can impress newbie’s in the town.

Maybe a bio-engineer could be employed to revert the creatures back to data from.

But I would like to be a pet store owner for creatures I capture myself in the wild.. Maybe become famous for stocking all the big zoos in the empire/republic (As though we don't know how the politics pans out).

P.S. As a food note... for those of you who may bring up the ethics of capturing wild creature to be sold off to the rich and famous or stored in some cold zoo somewhere... Spare a though for all the innocent creature you have needlessly destroyed just to practice yourself with that new weapon you always wanted, pretending it was some big time criminal or evil Jedi you were hunting... I'm only making sure that our grandchildren get to see these wondrous creatures... Well, they'll see the babies of the creature I kill anyway... ahh it for a good cause, honest.... MONEY!!!!

What cant we have unlimited number of pets?? Whats keeping combat professions from having unlimited number of Flamethrowers, pistols carbines ect stored in their house? We can really only use one pet at a time, so whats the big deal? And to the poster above about unrealistcly selling pets on bazaar, I think its very realistic. Ever gone to a pet store? All those animals in a cage cost money, you know where they come from? Breeding farms where they are put in a box and shipped off to the pet store for selling. Why cant I ship my rancor off to sell for the highest bidder? I dont have time to walk around coronet 12 hours day shouting for sale of rancors.

Come on there must be some Dev somewhere who has an opinion on this matter...

check this out for more CH moans

http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=creature_handler&message.id=182332

Looks like more CH players are complaining about how the CH profesion is being treated. All I want to do is store pets as you can anyother items in the game and maybe even sell the creatures at vendors\bazzar as with all other items.

This is becoming a bit of a moan I think... Anyone with any good ideas about how to improve the CH profesion please contribute...

Technically speaking, CH's already have an unlimited supply of pets - no matter WHAT the current max datapad storage limit is.

As long as the devs have babies in the wild, we will have pets available to us.

This is a good thing. And yes, there is a risk getting those 'good babies'.

at the moment I am getting a lot of requests for babies from newbies, but as my datapad is full of creature I use (and some to high for me to use) I struggle getting pets for newbies their pets... I would love to be able to leave my pets somewhere and just go collecting baby rill's, zuccor boars, etc and sell/give them to newbies in towns...

I feel this would also encourage more players to become CH's as well...

At the moment I have to pass a pet to a player... catch a baby... pass them the pet... than hope they give me mine back!

This is not ideal and some my say I'm gready by wnating all my pets (about 8 I think) but I have 5 pets I can't use yet (donaed by a CHM as he dropped the profesion) and I need the others to get the XP fighting high level creatures.

Just seems I should stop helping newbies, but this also seems selfish...

any thoughts.....
