As you all of you know, we tailors are a bit forgetten besides entertainers and doctors. Even on these clothing we demand on Bio-Engineers. I know a lot of people that does not having a piece of clothes besides newbie clothing even at their elite master proffessions.

Even in all boards, voices of "Star Warsy look" been raising everyday seeing people as robot that we never saw in movies. We are not always buffed and we are not living inside cities always. Forcing people to wear robotic composite armors just to go their homes is a shame for the Star Warsy image.

What I will suggest here isa corporative workbetween Armorsmith & Tailor proffessions.

Clothing sockets for armor segments... With new combat revamp coming this idea should be considered as a new update...

Up to 20% protection supplied by Armorsmiths additional to clothes.

* Armorsmiths produces various segments like Bio-Engineers do for clothing adding little encumbrance over to wear daily for everyone.

* Tailors implements those segments into additional components like Reinforced Panels or Synthetic Clothes.

* Armorsmiths will be able to sell something (Currently nothing is sold besides Composite and Ubese) and has a bulk-customer. Tailors...

* Tailors will be able to build factional gear or combat equipment, giving everyone Star Warsy look while not uber fights

* That clothing that is made by these armor segments, should decay as any other armor..

Kindly regards and happy crafting...

It is an interesting idea, but it would take the low-level armor business(what little there is of it) out of the hands of noob armorsmiths and into the realm of tailors.

Nice enough idea, but you would seriously have to balance with low-level armors, and if this clothing is able to accept BE enhancements then nobody, and I mean nobody, would wear anything besides this and composite armor.

I have mixed feelings about this, as there are already low-level armors available out there, they just aren't viable because of their high organics content. If this is given to tailors, I want reduced organics content in lower level armors, as most tailor clothes only need fiberplast/inert petrochems, this would severely unbalance low-level markets where tailors are more able to protect you than a master armorsmith making medium level armors, cost for cost.

That clothing would be pricier than lowbie armors if segments are not 1-2 materials only. Low-level armorsmiths might be doing these for tailors also till they get high-end advanced composites..

To be honest, currrently armorsmiths sells nothing besides Ubese and Composite. If low-level armors are balanced for depending on player needs that should be ok. Percentage I've given is just an example. And again, Armor is strongly needed on a combat BUT daily clothing people needs to refer to cloths for more than today...

Why people don't get their armor off is, they cannot able to wear them again in an emergency situation because of encumbrances. What I mean here is to give basic protection to 'some' clothes so people do not need to wear armor 24 hours a day...

I like the idea. With a little more thought,we could probably get this to work. Of course, this might inspire conversation on being able to add b.e. enhanced synth and reinforced fiber panel into certain types of armor, if not all armor.

Its an interesting idea, but I don't see it ever happening. Instead, we would have tailors being the low-end armorsmiths (and not selling much because everyone wants and can afford the best stats they can get no matter what it looks like). Furthermore, we would rely on armormsiths for components which have been experimented on with nice quality materials and you *know* that won't be cheap. It would also open up the Pandora's box of allowing BE tissues in armor and I for one am against that. To me, armor should be armor and clothing should be clothing. Armor provides protection against damage while clothing does not. Armor, however, has encumberance and that encumberance should count for something (which it does not right now). Hopefully that will be addressed in the combat rebalance.

With all due respect,

Noone wears something "tailor-crafted" beside weddings and cantinas. Is that what tailors should do? Please take a look around. People never gets out their armors, even lowlevels. We have a tree to build "combat gear" and what is the point if noone wears them at all. OK, we are tailors, we try to wear all stuff we can but sometimes I notice I dont get out of armor just to clean lairs around my shop.

OK, ladies care about clothing. I see many ladies in hotpants under composite chest plate and boots with helmet. Need to look at side from men also. Men don't wear something if it does not give an advantage to them. What does BE tissues actually used when you cannot wear them under armor besides shirts which is limited selection that has reinforced fiberpanel. Roleplayers is so limited that actually interested in this issue.

If we do not actually make clothing something worthy, we will end up "cantina clothier" which we barely sell, no decays, nothing. I'm think of merchandising side too. As proffessionals, we need to make money from this work like any other proffessions besides having fun of us. Besides who does not want to live like characters in the movies, at any danger, surviving with casual clothes...

I disagree Tuls, when I actively sold clothing (my alt is master tailor), both women and men buy clothing, not just for cantinas and weddings, but for everyday wear. Not everyone likes to wear armor all the time. I don't put it on unless I'm hunting for the evening, all other times, I change out. Adding in craftable mastor tailor schematics, wookie armor padding, and the sale of bio clothing, cloths for doc, armorsmith, and architect, I still think that the tailoring profession isa fairly viable one (may be even more viable if you move the cloths that other proffs need up a box or two).

More to your point about decay (which is a good point), I don't find that I switch outfits all that often, even when the clothing reaches zero condition. I would probably do it more often if I had more inventory space, but being a master crafter, space is limited. Maybe that will change if the devs decide to make zero condition clothing unwearable.

I think it might be more interesting to come out with more types of b.e. tissues to put in clothing, and to come out with more variety of clothing, including more looted schemes. I still don't disagree with having limited armor protection in clothing, maybe something that simply provides low effectiveness but no ap protection. If you make the low level armorsmiths able to produce these items, it would provide a much needed income for them (assuming you don't need experimentation points to make these items). Just my two credits.

If encumberance actually meant something then there is a reason to wear clothing instead of armor somtimes. It depends on your role in a fight. Are you going to tank or do you want to do the most damage possible? Both have advantages and disadvantages.

This is a great idea, I had thought about this earlier. If you just add a resist and noarmor level to it then it would work rather well. It would be like most NPCs have resists and no armor level.

Im currently getting 200-400 vendor emails per day just on clothing, and they are certainly not all women, and the men dont just get all BE combat clothing either. ive got men who are regular customers and elite combat proffessions, buying clothing they like the looks off very often. The 'majority' are entertainer types and/or women i admit, but certainly a good amount are not. So i strongly disagree with your generalising on who actually buys clothes.

But i wouldnt object to tailors getting some improved defensive clothing that could compete a 'little' better with armour to an extent where some would rather wear clothing due to looks without sacrificing too much. As it stands armour beats no armour almost in every regular case.

But i disagree to needing armoursmith for it, if anything we should need BE for it, god knows they need love too.
