Thread: The thing people have been waiting for: What armors are certified for which professions. PART II

OK, heres another concern/question. This Piece of Armorwas looted on TC.

I'm assuming that the "Penalties" section is the Hinderance that has been mentioned in all of the armor crafting documents, and is what reduces your Movement, Speed, and Accuracy. It has been stated that hinderances will not be able to be experimented on so that means that any advanced set of armor will be identical to any other set of armor once people figure out how to max the effectiveness. The only choice to make would be to decide which damage type armor you want to make. With only condition and effectiveness to experiment on, it seems that they've takena lot of the competion, and creativity out of crafting armor.

Well, since the original thread got locked because aimee the numnutz was all concerned about "uber" (hence proving my point about why some people are really whining) and trolled the thread down into flames with him, here is a repost.

Let me just ask that people PLEASE stick to discussing the certifications? This is NOT your forum to go off about the CURB, and how you will not be able to be a "l33t d00d with ph4t l3wt" like Aimee has been carrying on about. This is FOR ARMORSMITHS to discuss certifications. I think the last positive topic brought up is the fact that some were forming unions to handle the new need, and overcoming the greed some AS's usually have in order to band together.

I leave the next step up to the AS community; I just ask that they ignore the trolling from Aimee and others - I got suckered in before by it... I won't get suckered in again, and I suggest the same for the rest of you.

The repost:

I think this almost demands a sticky.

Here you go:

Reconnaissance Armor
Ubese, Tantel, Marauder Recon, Mabari, Kashyyykian Ceremonial, Ithorian Guardian, Marine Rebel (Factional), Scout Trooper (Factional)

Certified to use it: Bio Engineer, Pistoleer, Rifleman, Smuggler

Battle Armor
Padded, Marauder Battle, Bone, Kashyyykian Black Mountain, Ithorian Defender, RIS (Quest), Rebel Battle (Factional), Stormtrooper (Factional)

Certified to use it: Carbineer, Creature Handler, Combat Medic, Fencer, Doctor, Swordsman, Pikeman, Ranger

AssaultArmor
Chitin, Composite, Marauder Assault, Kashyyykian Hunting, Ithorian Sentinel, Mandalorian (Quest), Rebel Assault (Factional), Shock Trooper (Factional)

Certified to use it: Bounty Hunter, Commando, Squad leader

Keep in mind, all this is subject to change. Also, if your profession is NOT listed here (most notably Teras kasi), then you are NOT currently certified for armor. In the case of Teras Kasi, word is they will be getting something like Jedi Robes in the CURB, hence their lack of certification.

Enjoy, and I will edit this as things change (if they do!)

Very true. But it does give us a foundation to work off of. The thing is, we need to keep this constructive and not whine. Whining only let's the devs know they are doing their job with the CURB of weeding out the "l33t d00d" powergamers. Constructive criticism however is valued. The key is knowing the difference.

Is it assumed that BH armor is in the same category as Mandalorian armor?

I know i put this in the other post. All i have to say is i think theMANDALORIAN andRIS should be used by any profession. Just like the KSE Firespray for any master pilot. If you master any elite profession you should be rewarded with the use of either of those 2 armors. I think that would be neat. As far as the other certs go, i'm cool with that if this must occur for balance issues.

I apologize if this has already been adressed, but I would like to know about the rifleman who picks up novice commando. Will he then be allowed to wear assault armor (ie composite) while using his rifle? For example, an ADK'ed composite chest plate with a few very nice rifle mods sold on my trade forum the other day, and I want to know if this guy just spent a ton of cash on a soon to be worthless item, or if he can just pick up novice commando and be fine.

If players can pick up novice commando/BH, etc, then I think that we will see some template shifting until folks get comfortable wearing something other than composite armor.

Second, how do certifications work for the grinding AS? Will he still have to wait until he gets to master to make composite armor, or will he get the certification for all assault armor at once, and the same thing for battle and recon?

I have question pertaining to crafters in general - my armorsmith is just that - a crafter - master artisan, master armorsmith. Will we be certified to wear something protective when surveying/placing harvestors?

Someone looked in the .TRE files, and it looks like BH armor will be in the same category as mando, but will not be craftable right off the bat. However, based on the notes, it looks like BH armor WILL be craftable in the publish after the CURB.

Well, I agree with you on RIS - that should be a jack-of-all-trades armor, and the fact anyone (without species interfering) can wear it would only add to its epic status. HOWEVER, I agree in limiting the professions for Mandolorian to Assault types. Sorry, but I just cannot picture a Bio Engineer in Mando armor to protect them from milking an animal. I think its fair that the Mando armor be like that, because it balances continuity with game balance.

That is a joke from you saying we need constructive critcism. God forbid someone would paraphrase you and offer "constructive criticism"because they better put the fllameproof jacket on,

I think you need to read the chapter in the book you recommended to me on "paraphrasing and summation". You may actually get your IQ above freezing.

(this was in reply to the previous thread)

Funny, so far in this thread I have been very constructive, mostly because everyone else, up until YOU, has been constructive. Funny how intelligent points breed intelligent discussion, huh? Now youcan flame away, because you just want to cry about the CURB. Just do it elsewhere - this is for armorsmiths to discuss certification, not the "cry that SWG is becoming EQ in space" thread.

Liamo wrote:

Now to the discussion at hand: as a crafter with semi-decent armor and only Pistols 3, am I right in assuming that I will only be able to wear a PSG?

I have no issue with the money spent on my armor-things change-but what will I use for protection since the spawn rates have been increased, even on the so called "safe planets?"

I also like to wear the Marine Armor that took me 2 months of running missions to get. At this point, I could care less if it were nothing more than fancy clothing but it's not right, for immersion purposes, for me not even being able ot wear the uniform of my Faction.

When I saw all the new armor comign out, I was really excited. I really thought it would look even more like Star Wars-but I guess that's only for the lucky few.

What, actual intelligent questions? Say it isn't so! Well, since you quit whining for a couple paragraphs, I would be more than happy to answer those questions. Yes, you will only be able to wear a PSG, not you will not be able to wear your marine armor without getting novice in a profession that supports the armor, and for the increased spawn on safe planets, you will have to interact with some people to help clear out animals around factories, or join a city that has factories within its non-spawn border, and not out on the edges where spawns can creep in. Don't forget, I am a crafter too (MAS), and I have factories that are on the edge of a city, and I got ganged up on recently by carrion spats and Wrix's. But you know what? I am not complaining about it - you live out in the wild, there are wild things out there. Hows that for immersion? Time to make some friends. Or you can always hop on a swoop or burst run to lure them away. There are always other methods.

And then there is your last paragraph - love the whining. Complain somewhere else. Keep this constructive.

Yes you can, since fencer gives you certification in RIS.

Yes, they will be able to wear Assault armor with Novice commando. In terms of certs for AS, the only difference between the current system and the new one is bone armor is moved up to novice Armorsmith, and there 3 kinds of core crafting have also been added.

That was a question of mine. So does this mean we're assuming armor certifications will be granted in the Novice box of each profession??
