I have looked at and owned three suits now newly made that are crafted over 6000,,,, kinetic seems to -------------effect movement

energy -------------------------rate of fire

special the --------------------accuracy

the closer the stats get to 6000 the closer to 40% the mitigation cap

so the best armor in game gets crappy hinderance on players

so they punish you for making the best stuff?

Hindrances are offset by a player's armor certification.

For example, a master Carbineer can wear battle armor without any hindrance, while a Novice Carbineer could only wear basic Battle armor with little hindrances., but if they try to wear advanced armor they will find themselves with some hindrance mods.

Newly made advanced armor has additional hinderances if it's been sliced... even for a master.

As for the OP, I have some 5894pieces cooking. I'll make some pieces tonight and tell you if I get a similar result after slicing. The assault pieces I did slice were 5770, but the the hinderance increase was pretty small (like around 2%/0.5%/0.2%). These are all unlayered, so I won't be able to test> 6000 until my layers finish next year.

Its meant to be a punishment. they dont want the same 90% compoisite like days. you want uber armor you gotta suffer some penalties

Its a probelm. There are 3 types of each armor. Basic, Standard and Adv. As A novice you should use Basic problem is is there is really no way to tell what is Basic and what is Adv. '
this leads to a lot of people buying armors they really should not be buying.

this is not totally true,,, I am a master swords master pike,,,, I have mitigation of 40%,,, for armor,,, you cant wear whatever battle armor you want and not get any hinderance,,, if you craft armor over 6000 in any of those stat areas i listed above you get extra hinderance,,, like over 40% meaning you have to take a penalty,,, so what im asking is that they are just trying to force a certain level of protection to be used? as in not going over 6000 crafted or sliced?

Yeah... Ive had to start telling my customers to not get their new armor sliced unless they want hindrances. Nice blow to the smugglers.

yeah and kind of forces all armorsmiths to focus on the same range of 6000 defense unless they want hinderance,,, and im sory but if you get it high enough i saw 58% on some recon that would leave 18% after mitigation,,, meaning your rate of fire ,,, attack speed,,, would be delayed by almost 20% lol oh yeah that would be great,,, now we can shoot even slower,,,, Yeahhhh

Each class of armor has different levels of hindrances and the appropriate professions have thematching mitigations. Recon armor wearers get a -60% RoF mitigation so you'd be fine with 58%.

I seem to recall shortly after the game went live that Smugglers were supposed to get some love...and STILL haven't seen anything but nerf, nerf, nerf and broken promises. Sorry for hijacking this part but I've a Smuggler Alt who I might as well kill off because she's worthless now (built her so I can slice my own armor and not pay someone else to do it).....Thanks again SOE......But then again...the bad press for SOE keeps mounting!

JUST REALIZED THIS IS FOR BATTLE ARMOR,,, why do all recon and assault proffesions get 60% and we get 40% is melee and carbineer suppose to have worse armor?

It doesn't matter, a 6000 protection recon armor will have 60% RoF, 40% Accuracy and 20% Movement hindrance (and a recon certed master will have the corresponding mitigations), etc, the total hindrance (and mitigation) is always the same just divided in different ways.
