in summary

only one line to experiment on (instead of 3)

most of all the resources we have saved (worth 10-200cpu) are now worth 2-5cpu

many many many new named resources (i.e. colat iron required, not just generic iron)

tons more organics needed (and lots of rangers retireing)

Well when armor prices increase 10 times of what they are now, will you as a combat profession complain when you have to pay say 2-3 mil for a suit?

Rangers, our main providers of hides, don't get any health bonus. So it will be hard for them to gather large amounts of hide. Hide requirements are going up so we'll need even more. These two facts create a conflict. It will be very hard for a ranger to fill a 100k, 200k, 500k order of hide.

As far as the crafting goes, a 12 point smith can use points in a variety of ways in a variety of layers (maily dividing up the 12 points between base protection, special protection and HAM reduction). This creates opportunites for people to master a particular type of armor and come up with some interesting (and quite good) variations. With the changes in the CU all armor will basically be the same (since we now can only experiment on one form of protection). This in turn makes it so a 10pt smith will make as good of armor as a 12 pt one. This is taking all of the technique out of the crafting process and just making it resource quality based. Gone are the days of inventing a new recipe.

With the high requirement of resources especially organics, and few rangers to collect, those prices will soar.

But they may change that before it goes live

well i dont forsee prices rising instantly after CU.... but they will climb as current stockpiles oforganic resources are depleted..... all the while people become poorer. 2 months after cu launch basic suits may be going for 1-2m... at launch mine will be 500k-1m in light of all the new stuff I have to BUY instead of just bulk mining. (which I can do for almost free) as well as the increased time drain my business will gain.

at launch on my server I anticipate prices to go up something like this

current ubese 90k

CU basic armor 250k+

increase 252% or more

current standard composite 275k

advanced armor 750k

increase 280% or more

RIS 1.4 mill per piece

CU RIS 3mill+

increase 210% or more

I don't even want to touch faction armor, but prob around 250-500k per piece (2-4.5 mill for suit)

While i understand and to some extent agree with what you say. A 12 pt will still succede more often on experiments.

Also as to the armour all being the same. I think it will be more diverse to be honest. Sure the means to get there seem linear, but we have many different layers (some completely new types too) much more involvement of creature loot enhancements. And also i heard (not been able to confirm this though) that creatures will not all be kinetic and they will be far more diverse in the damage types they deal. This in itself may make the current resists people go for to be largely expanded, Giving us more choice of what layers to use

The only diversity we will see in armor is look. Thats it, the cores will be practically identical if the ASes use the same resources. When it comes down to it, no one cares about look over protection so they are indeed, going to be the same.

As far as post CU prices, i'll have to see what other ASes on my server are gonna do but i plan and charging about 150% more than i do now. Once we all settle down with decent types of the new resources our prices will gradually fall, but by then most may give up. I also feel terrible for rangers, i used to be a master ranger and was one for a good 6 months and had a blast. But with the SP reqs being comparably outrageous and getting no 'combat' benefits such as health then they will all quit. I hate to see it because they are some of the coolest people around in this game.

I have had this debate on a couple different threads, but i still believe there will be more variety in the CURB not less (I am a master AS), if anyone wants to continue this debate there is a thread to do it

But On a clarification there are 2 bars to experiemtn on, not 1. Condition and resists.
