Thread: Please help me get to 70% base from 69% base

I am a new 12 pt AS, using a 14.88 tool, a 42.77 station, and using food and drink while crafting. It seems that I am only able to get my composite to 80elec/80kin/69base, despite my best efforts and using some of the best resources ever to spawn on my server.
Here are my resources (MA/OQ/SR/UT):
Kinetic layer (4% base, 7% kinetic):
Amorphous Gemstone: 579/787/929/952
Polymer: 160/992/634/121
Metal: 954/942/785/755
Advanced composite armor segment (33% base, 17% elec, 21% kin):
Kirium Steel: 90/979/575/515
Colat Iron: 287/837/758/722
Polysteel Copper: 954/942/785/755
Composite Gloves (80/80/69):
Naboo Fiberplast: 827/941/848/887
Beyrllius Copper: 667/969/440/440
Aluminum: 984/984/878/883
Intrusive Ore: 488/988/882/849
Solid Petro: 911
Woolly Hide: 708/757/982/317
Please tell me what my rate limiting factor is. It seems that both my layers and my segments are good enough to get to 70%+, but I can't seem to get there, despite having quality resources for the end composite item. I will admit that I have never gone all the way through with only amazing successes. Is this what it takes?

Yes, 69% base is pretty good, but there are several ASs on my server who have 80/80/72 armor, so to be immediately competitve with the top players, my armor has to match up. In order to get the word out about my armor, I have to attract the hardcore players.

i'd have to say the metal you used in your kinetic layers could be better. try some kammris iron. it generally has 900+ sr and oq can be found in the 900s easily as well

i'd have to agree with the metal you are using, it helps to have 900+ OQ/SR for that. also there is 4% base and then there is 4% base, don't make a layer without making sure its 4% amazing sucess.

also i believe your putting too much into kinetic resists b/c 69+21=90 and you only need to hit 80 so pull some points out of the kinetic.

yes dont spend any point for kin 3 layers with 4% kin are enoth to get the 80% kin also by 69% base

You shouldn't be putting *any* points in special on the layers at all. You will hit 80% easily. Just max base at every stage. If your basestill isn't high enough, you need better resources. And yes, your metal sucks. 900+ OQ/SR metal should be easy enough to come by.
Amazings, having 12 points, etc. have nothing to do with getting 72% base; it's all about your resources. A freshly minted 10-point AS could hit 72% if he had the resources for it. All the extra points (amazings are really just extrapoints as well)give you is the ability to make lighter armor, triple/quad 80 armor, or high stun/high base armor.

i'm wit them.. you're two weakest resources are the metal and the polymer... im sure you can find somehting thats 850/850 for polymer... and if you can find somehting 900/900 for steel or iron that should help get you over 70%.. maybe hit 71-72%

I really appreciate all of your responses, and please keep more coming. I have been experimenting only on base until it is maxed out.
I am al little confused by what theonebountyhunter said regarding pulling points out of kinetic. Does that mean that I should use a different protection layer in addition to the kinetic? I used 3 kinetic layers only in each advanced segment.

no he means.. rather then do 4% base 7% kin.. do 4% base and exp into encumrance ... you are doing triple layer which will come out with 12% kin already.... so experiement into encumbrance since u only need 68% base to hit 80 kin.... dont waste the points into kinetic...

Your other weak point here could actually be the wooly hide in the final combine. If you can get your hands on some higher OQ hide, with comparable SR, I would wager you could get past the 70% barrier and possibly further when combined with the advice the others have given.

Actually, imo there's nothing wrong with the wooly hide... it's over 1800 OQ+SR, which in my book is quite good. Wooly is a small part of the overall picture anyway.
The real problem I see with the resources is the colat... it's mediocre. Good colat makes a huge difference. Just checking swgcraft.com, it looks like that colat is 35 days old. There was a much better spawn just a few days before that (server 2nd best actually), should be easy enough to find some for sale.
I'd also try to find better polymer. ~600 SR isn't very good. Other than that, things look okay.Solid petro could be a bit better maybe. I'm envious of your fiberplast, it's been a while sincechilastra's had a spawn close to that.

I tried looking for your metal and found it on page 8, I do believe you will push past 70-71 easy with a one of the better metals on the server--- uhh your server best winked out no more than 17 days ago... Get on it man (Eurteasw)
Colat could be worse but its almost 100 from the server best on OQ/SR average. Id go hunting for the secondbest called Icim if I were you its only been 41 days since it winked out
As the others said no amount of points past 10 will give you higher base on max base stuff, only reources
