How useful are sharnaff plates? Is there a limit on what armor can use them?

What kind of stat ranges can I expect (are Base Eff 15%, Integrity 800, Encumberances around 25, and Cold/Acid/Heat of 5% stats middle of the road)?

Lastly, how much would a matched set of these sell for (I know that the economies vary, but just a ballpark would be nice).

Thanks for any help!

Ive looted a tone of these. Ive put them up for sale on vendors for 500 each and never sold one. They are only good in chitin armour. Sorry. One of the reasons Ive taken up Armoursmith is so I could make something with them and hopefully make some money. But hey thats just my experience.

I've paid 3000 credits per on the bazaar market, since I'm a newb armorsmith and still making Chitin till my fingers bleed. They do make a considerable difference in stats for Chitin, making them worth more to sell.

I made a set using the plates the bulls drop, adding them to my adv segments. Not bad for a noodsmith.

Sharnaff segments go into chitin armor. They move acid to special protection from base effectiveness, and move heat and cold from vunerability to special protection. The resists don't go as high as you'd see with advanced chitin though.

I don't know how much they're worth. You could probably get 500-1000cr per segment on the bazaar, but it takes a lot of segments to make one suit of chitin.

Now, I'm not sure if sharnaffs drop scales. If they do, I'd assume they add special protection to heat, cold, and acid and can be used in any crafted armor segment.

That was made with mediocre resources, just to see what would happen. Advanced chitin from the same resources usually gets up to around 50% special protection and similar base.

Whilst on my travels I've picked up a bunch of these Sharnaff Plates. If i remember correctly it says they would be good for an Armoursmith making Chitin armour.

Now I cann't remember the last time I saw someone wearing Chitin so I was wondering, are these things completely worthless, or would they be of use to an Armoursmith insome way?

Thanks.

A bored armorsmith interested in making some non-composite armor might buy this. Otherwise, they're farking useless, and thus reveal the retarded nature of armor in this game.

Yeah it would be nice to see something other than armies of people wearing composite for a bit of variation.

My guildmates have made it a habit to bring me Sharnaff plates and segment enhancers, as well asvoritor hidesfor free. We found them useful for enhancing the wookie armor to include protections they would not otherwise have. As a master armorsmith, I'm trying to produce a wide variety of armor for all types of players and found that Sharnaff Chitin has been growing in popularity. Next to Composite, it covers the most damage types of any other armor (Save for Tantel which only includes head, chest, and boots). If made right, most protections will be at around 30%, except for a couple at 4%. Kinda like the poor man's composite Aside from the protection it brings, people are also buying it for style. I try to include all the different chitin colors I can. Ubese too (although not very many colors look good on the ubses suit).
