armorsmith can be as detailed resource wise, is no where near as detailed componet wise

also, if you focus on a few types of armors, then the resources aren't as bad, unlike WS where a lot try to make everything

Pre-CU i was looking into going into weaponsmith with my alt., but with armor changes it kind of made me turn my head a little a wonder about going amorsmith. Now I've gotten down the resource needs for weaponsmith, the many resources it takes to make a weapon, ranged for example, you've got barrels, blaster handles, scopes, stocks, and then the rest needed for the gun after those components are put in, mind you it's only mining needed, no organics except for stocks. And each component with many resource needs. It all seemed a little overwhelming.

So question, with what I've been hearing with the changes with armorsmith, any ex-weaponsmith armosmiths or combo smiths, is Armorsmith as detailed and difficult as Weaponsmith resource wise and component wise? How would you guys compare them if you've done both?

dude i was just saying the same ig

im a ws mainly and i've respec'd from tailor to AS, ws is far more complicated- i have to make upto 4 components just for a single weapon - taking from 2 and 6 named resources each (most components needs it own factory run for each weapon) and than sell it for 10k to 30k

I'm doing both now, and I have to say that I'm seriously considering respecing back to shipwright from AS. Not that AS is a bad profession (though I think it's a shadow of it's former glory), but dealing with the new resource requirements on top of the resource requirements for WS is driving me mad. If you only did one or the other, it wouldn't be as bad, I'm sure. For me, though, the biggest headache is getting the hides needed.

If you already have a good resource collection for WS, I would say about25-33% of your resources will be good for AS as well. In particular, any aluminum, steel, iron, amorphous gemstone, oreor polymer with high OQ+SR.

While it's true weapons require more components, they require far fewer resources per item to make. Also, in the time it would take you to do the factory work to make about 33 quad-layeredsuits, you could make999 weapons (depending on type of weapon, of course)...and probably use fewer resources. However, one armor suit sells for hundreds of thousands (faction armor for millions), while most standard weapons will only sell for a few thousand.

If you're looking for a challenging crafting profession, stick with WS. It is now far more interesting and challenging (in my opinion) than AS is. WS now has 3 viable experimentation lines (damage, speed, SAC) and 2secondary lines (accuracy and elemental damage). AS just has protection and condition.

If you're looking to make money fast in a crafting profession, AS might be the way to go, especially if you sell faction armor. Once you get your initial factory runs finished, you can make millions with just a few sales (whereas with WS you might have to sell a hundred weapons to make a million credits). And AS is pretty straightforward now, so there isn't really a very steep learning curve anymore.

And if you're just looking to make easy money period, sell resources. Use your crafting knowledge to identify the best spawns, cherry pick them and sell the resources to WS, AS and SW (especially AS and SW as these are very resource hungry professions).

Hope this helps.

I am enjoying both. I find them both easy and not resource intensive. I do not use 300k resources to make 1 item.

LOL...I'm an old weaponsmith (retired)and I recently added armorsmith ( and newly RIS certified). I find it a bit complicated...lol. It's probably what you get used to. Wep crafting is my passion and seems pretty straight forward.

while WS uses much less resources per craft, they need way more different kinds than us (but not as much as before)

weaponsmith requires a LOT of specific resources. take a t21 for example:

Ditanium Steel (OQ/CD)

Gallorian Rainbow Crystilline Gemstone (OQ)

Polonium Iron (OQ/CD)

Metal (most likely a polysteel or platanite copper for OQ/CD)

Alantium Carbonate Ore (OQ)

Rhodium Steel (CD/SR)

Duranium Steel (CD/SR)

Duralloy Steel (CD/SR)

Ryll Amorphous Gemstone (SR)

Metal (CD/SR - i use a 980/900 non-ferrous unknown)

Corellian Decidious Wood (SR)

Link Steel Aluminum (SR)

Ostrine Carbonate Ore (OQ/CD)

Phrik Aluminum (OQ/CD)

Irolunn Gas (OQ)

Polymer (OQ)

Diatium Copper (OQ/CD)

I do understand that weaponsmith takes alot of resources, but so does armorsmith. Examples:

Naboo Bristley Hide

Lok leather Hide

Dant Wooly Hide

Dathomire Fiberplast

Polysteel Coppers

Beryllius Coppers

Neutronium Steel

Carbonate steel

Corellian Fiberplast

Endorian Decidious Wood

Endorian Conifer Wood

Endorian Everngreen Wood

Atlantium Carbonate Ore

Vintrium Extrusive ore

Chromium Aluminum

Titanium Aluminum

Phrik Aluminum

These are just some of them and all need oq and shock to be high. My point is, I dont think weaponsmith takes more or less than what an armorsmith takes. I believe soe just evened the playing field some is all.

As a new AS from respec (I've always wanted to be one...), that is what I'm trying to do, to focus on a few types of armor. I was a WS before, and it was fun for a little while, but it got to me, so I dropped it, but you're right about some WS trying to make everything. I was one of them... hehe.

i agree.i was a WS before grinding AS (pre crafting-respec AS).

Components are a pain.

and i dint like having to find a crapload of new resources for AS. But it's the profession I chose.
