not sure if this has been answered but just curious. I've been nightsister hunting with ubese and had to have it repaired within 1 buff session lol. at least the chest and leggings. I usually wear comp now cause its somewhat easier and cheaper to maintain plus i got a buttload of skill tapes i always loot and drop in. Anyone have any idea? thanks

Yes, slicing armor does make it decay quicker. Its a waste to get armor sliced IMO. Ubese already wears out quickly, especially the Jacket.

I wear 80%kinetic Composite to hunt in, since it has Kinetic layers, this isn't affected by slices. Since I need to buff to actually do anything in armor like this, I could care less about an Encumbrance slice (except maybe on the helm).

Ah thats good to know, i've always gotten my armor sliced, but lately i only do PvE and its mostly kinetic damage. And since the advent of Brandy i never have a problem putting it on anymore etc. I Guess im gonna stop slicing stuff except for PvP which i barely do anymore. i have a couple of krayt suits that has 70%+ protection to all that i usually use for PvP since i have a ton of comp krayt segments that ive used to make

Anyway thanks for the info

how on earth do you figure?

slicing does one of two things, increase the effectiveness of you armor, meaning when you take a hit of that damage type, 1 the dmg done to you reduces, but 2. the dmg the armor takes decrease as well. or slicing reduces encumberence.

if you are burning through ubese jackets and pants...thats pretty normal, they do wear out fast because their primary protection is only kinetic and low to all other dmg types, that and the jacket covers chest and biceps. personally i recommend comp chest and biceps and boots, the rest ubese.keep in mind w/e dmg that isnt blocked by your armor will hit the armors condition for as much. so if you get hit for say 2k heat dmg to your ubese jacket, its going to lose 2k condition from that single hit.

slicing doesnt accelerate decay, that wouldmean a change in decay mechanics. itsjust a myth, like slicing means you cant repair the armor or gun. myths.

Yes, slicing armor does raise the effectiveness %'s , but when you are using Ubese and Kinetic Layered Composite the Kinetic %'s are unaffected by an effectiveness slice. Since this person is doing PvE, I think slicing is a waste. If he were doing PvP, getting effectiveness slices is a must.

Slicing weapons/armor also makes them wear out quicker. I'll try to find the post where it states this.

Yes, please do. Slicing armor would make it last LONGER if anything. Not sure about weapons, but armor should last longer or the same about of hits if it is sliced as opposed to unsliced.

Yes.

If you up the resists from 65% to 87% you will absorb more damage and decay faster.

No, you've got it backwards. It is the damage that passes through, NOT the damage that is resisted, that lowers the armor's condition. 90% Comp will last twice as long as 80% comp, three times as long as 70% comp, four times as long as 60% comp, etc.

No, slicing doesn't affect it, except that a 90% armor only has 10% going through, whereas a base 70% has 30% going through, thus making armor last longer with an eff slice

Well, he didn't have the decay rates on Unsliced VS Sliced for the weapons (just one figure from one of the two) and there are more factors that go into decay than just whether it's sliced or not (specials used for one thing). Same goes for armor. Unless someone runs out and tests this and has several runs that show like results, I'm going to say that slicing does NOT affect decay. It's like saying that the quality of tools affect the slice (something that is generally thought to be untrue).

All of my armor is always sliced and lasts a really long time.

Decay on armor is based on the damage that the armor does not block. So, if you take 10 dmg and 20% of it is blocked the armor looses 8 condition. If it were sliced and base was 40% then the armor would block 4 dmg and loose 6 condition. So slicing does not make armor decay faster, and can in fact make it decay at a slower rate.

Actually, I tested this out with my sliced ADV Mabari Boots and they lose condition based on 20% of the damage that goes through.

For example, on a hit of 174 kinetic damage, my 30% kinetic Adv Mabari Boots prevent 113 damage (meaning 61 damage got through). The boots themselves took a hit of 12 condition. So, I'm guessing that by the numbers above, the damage done to sliced armor is 20% of the damage that passes through. If someone wants to test unsliced armor, have at it.
