valcyn finally got the resources to make 80/80/80 armor, now that 70% base is achievable with some of these new resources (I could hit 70% with blast, kin and energy before though)

my initial run was 80% kin 80% elec 80%energy 9% stun and 70% base

just wondering what is popular on other servers that have been at 70% for a while. 80% acid might be nice too, but not too sure if it would sell so well

Acid seems to be nice. I personally don't like 80/80/80 etc armour, but that's just me.

Man...It's just fantastic to be able to actually put together a set of armor like that, and I salute you, but it's really more of a personal goal than a marketable one. As hard as it is to do...

Just about all of my customers seem to want one of two things...

1) Ultra Heavy/High Base Armor (70-71% -ish) (PuttingANY resist in special is a detriment in this case, especially Kinetic, Energy, Blast, or Acid, since it can't be sliced above 80%)80% just isn't high enough for some people. ...preferably made with stun layers (39-40% -ish)

2) Ultra Light Kinetic Comp...preferably in the 5xx/4xx/5xx HAM-range unsliced

Ultra Light Kinetic/Energy sells too...but the extra HAM is a big downer...6xx/5xx/6xx -ish

I think 4 peice suits are becoming more popular on our server (as they shoud be)

I did a preorder of my last run orders were for 25 full suits and 26 cheater suits

with the 4 peice suits, HAM isnt as important so the light kinetic arent as popular as they used to be. PLus there are enough smiths on our server making it, I like to give them alternatives.

I so far have refused to do presliced, just dont have the time or energy

I am thinking my next batch will be 80% kin/energy/elec/acid. Sure we can all argue what type of comp is better, but this is for the guys like me that are too lazy to try and get the perfect slice, or too tight with their pennies to pay extra (or buy mutiple peices) for the presliced stuff.

I just wanted some input from others that sold similar armors, thanks for the input so far

Yeah I can agree with your points.

Without encumberence to hold it back, we can lay a variety of specials down.

I've seen some interesting ones, such as 80% Kinetic, 80% Blast, 80% Electric, 10% Stun xx% Base, designed for Nightsister Hunting.

What I would do is an 80% blast/ 80% kinetic/ 80% electrictiy/ 9% stun.

Its a specific armor for people who hunt nightsisters, but I get asked alot for it by the uber guilds and loot hunters.

An 80% acid is allright, if you pvp with combat classes that use pistols, but on the whole Id say it wouldnt sell all that well. The combat classes/templates that use rifles will stay with doing other damage types and the commando will most likely use a scatter or flamethower in pvp instead of an acid rifle.

Unfortunatly the resources on my server are on the cusp of 70% base, not quite there yet. but soon I hope

Err, for PvP, as a Rifleman, the DXR-6b is usually my weapon of choice. The accuracy is great, the damage type is great (not resisted by PSGs), the damage and AP are very good (My damage is T21 level, and Medium AP is good). Jawas don't tend to cut it against high stun armour and PSGs.

ah, very good point. But in pvp you may not know what type of armor the person is wearing, it could be high stun with a PSG, or it could be a more 'standard' set. Since most stun armor is more expensive that other types of compostie, a good % of ppl will take a set that has more uses than just pvp. Alot of the rifleman I talk with will use their Jawa first betting that the person they are going against doesnt have a stun set on becuase they are more rare. You are a more savvy PVPer it sounds like, and since you know how armor works being an AS as well, you know what works and why. But alot of people do not know how armor works and just want the hi base % with the 80% kinetic special to fight TKA'swhen looking at armor.

Ive made two runs of 80x3 4-6% stun, 66-67% base heavy comp.... I sell at about 25% more than other *standard* suits run and (300k on naritus) and I sell maybe two a day. /shrug

I may just convert a few suitsinto cheater sets and see if those sell....

I've been working on 80 blast, 80 kin, 80 elec, 4 stun, 66 base with 40k+ condition per piece. If I dug around for better materials and slaved over every layer until they were "perfect", I could raise the base/stun, but I haven't had the chance.

I made this armor with the intention of outfitting my guild during Nightsister hunts. By moving the stun from the vuln into special you gain the benefit of the AR1:AP0 protection of composite.

This armor, while heavy, is nice with either an effectiveness or encumbrance slice. There's few enough stats left in the base to worry about the eff slice for PvE. The suit benefits from an encumbrance slice more, that and wearing 4-5 pieces (I always wear the comp pants and haven't had a problem).

Although I'm curious to see how things will be for armorsmiths in the future. My guess is encumbrance is goign to get more attention.

Ah, you don't need to hit70% base to make armor with three 80% special protections. I've been making armor like this for awhile now on my server and the sets look something like this.

80% Kinetic, 80% Blast, 80% Electricity, 8% Stun, 67% Base, Medium Encumberance

80% Kinetic, 80% Energy, 80% Electricity, 8% Stun, 67% Base, Medium Encumberance

I use 4% Base, 8% Stun layers, along with 3% Base and 12% Layes for the other Special Protections. The Encumberance on the segments is 54/54/56. You have to drop a couple points in to the special protection on the segment to get the Electricity up enough to hit 80% on the final armor.

This kind of armor is great for people hunting Nightsisters, doing the DWB, the Genosian Cave, or hunting other higher level MOBs. The good part about it for me is that it lets me use up a lot of resources I would otherwise use to make the layers. I can also use some of my resources that are like #2 or #3 on the OQ+SR combination since I'm only trying to hit 80% special protection. A lot of these have higher MA so I can get the encumberance down a bit more than usual. I usually put a point or two on the encumberance on each other layers.

I sell exclusively in 4 piece sets now. I've had pretty good sales with this stuff.

Stun/blast/kin and stun/energy/kin are the most popular layering schemes I have seen for these types of armor. I personally prefer a suit with 70+ base and max stun sliced up to 85-90 base. This is expensive and I can see a non-smith or the cost conscious player going for a stun/3x80 suit just to have a garauntee of no vuln and high kin/en or kin/blast resist.
