Thread: Fact: Pants can no longer be hit

I have been PvPing and PvEing with no pants on for months. I wear boots normal slacks, instead of composite, and I have not been hit in the legs for months.

I have suspected that it is a difficult area to hit for months, but I recently tested it, and I am now certain. I had a carbineer use Action shot and Leg shot on me for 10 minutes, and every shot hit my boots.

I have also tanked Nightsisters, the Corellian Corvette, and the DW bunker, and I tell you, never once did I get hit in my unarmored pelvis.

This is probably a bug related to their final solution to the armor hole. But until they fix it, there is absolutely no reason to wear armored pants.

...But go into combat without boots and you are toast.

I'm going to say this once, and once only:

This is a company, one that is out to make money, so banning people who hadn't done anything wrong would be really dumb since it would mean that we would be losing money. So before you just believe someone who says they are being wrongfully punished take a moment and reflect.

Also, ranting/flaming and attacking customer service isn't going to fly on these boards so any further posts about it will result in the suspension of that person's forum account.

Depend of what you fight.

Try some critters on Yavin or Endor for exemple, you'll be toasted.

You can wear Helm/Chest/Gloves/Boots and be fine... don't need the bracers/biceps/pants. But, if you have them on, the condition drop will be less across each piece overall... but with as quickly as they all wear down either way, it's almost pointless to take the extra encumbrance of the five pieces that do not get hit directly.

I went the past 2 weeks with only those four pieces worn at all times, and I have not once been hit in one of the unarmored areas. Doesn't seem to provide any extra protection with a full set, but the five pieces extra tend to lessen the decay on the primary pieces.

Ok, this intrigued me a bit so I went out and did some testing. From my initial tests there definitely appears to be something strange with armor coverage.

For my first test, I only put on a helmet, gloves, chest, and boots. I went out and found a kreetle lair and let them aggro on me. I stood there and let them attack me for about 5 minutes, during which I watched the combat spam very closely. Sure enough, the only places I took hits were in the helmet, gloves, chest, and boots.

For my second test, I removed the helmet, gloves, chest, and boots and put on both biceps, bracers, and pants. Again, I used my kreetle lair and let them attack me for several minutes. During that time, all of the pieces I was wearing (biceps, bracers, pants) WERE hit at one point or another. It should also be noted that some of the hits were not blocked by armor as expected since I was not wearing a full suit of armor.

For my third and final test, I put on a full suit of armor and went back to the kreetles. Same as before, I let them attack me for several minutes while I monitored the combat spam. While the helmet, chest, gloves, and boots seemed to take the most hits ALL of the pieces were hit at some point during the test.

So what I have seen so far from my tests (limited as they are) is that if you wear a full suit of armor, all of the pieces do indeed have a chance of being hit and probably will be hit if you are attacked often enough. However, if you only wear a helmet, chest, gloves, and boots all hits seem to gravitate to these locations and nowhere else. Something is definitely not working right here. I am beginning to wonder if this phenomena has something to do with the dev's efforts over the past few monthsto fix the armorholes.

When I get some more time later on today I will try to do some tests with another player using targetted shots and higher level mobs.

Hum, I'm intrigued too.

Will do some testing later.
For the armor hole fix relation, I know the armor hole had something to do with belt.

Torso shot also does a nice job of hitting the arms. Give that a whirl if you can find a BH.

I think part of the reason is that some types of armor leave sections open, for example armorweve leaves the biceps open. To stop 'armor holes' in these types of armor the coding had to divert attacks if the area was not covered....

Are there armor types that leave out the pants / bracers.... Possibly Tantel could come under this remit.

Holy cow - that make me think - ATM we almost have a full suit of Tantel and the possibility of high stun.

Holy cow!

I'm starting to test this in about 4 minutes. Wearing only comp chest, boots, gloves, helmet.

You know if this works... a nerf that will revive the armor hole is surely on the way

Results - took around 100-150 hits, 4-5 went through without cause. This is a damn good rate considering the lower encumbrance, but it disproves the theory. Was wearing only helmet, chest, boots, gloves.

edit: did more testing, enhanced droidekas go right through on the legs, other than that the rate of an armor hole is still extremely low.
