Thread: Chitin is sposed to be low HAM.

Bah! I picked up a full set of low HAM chitin yesterday. Im a fan of fighting unbuffed in PvE so thats my reasoning if you were going to ask "why would you wear chitin?". Well, the problem I ran into IS the chitin chestplate coupled with the chitin left/right bicep peices actually have a HIGHER HAM than my ubese jacket (which covers the biceps). My ubese jacket has a higher kinetic resist, higher base, AND lower HAM. The Ubese jacket was a 74% kinetic, 25% base and the chitin peices were all 54% kinetic, 23% base. As it stands now, I have 3 chitin peices that are going to collect dust, one of them, the chest peice, is the one I wanted to use most. Im tired of all the ubese and composite everywhere.

This shouldnt be the case. There should be SOME purpose for every type of armor, including chitin. In my eyes it was low HAM and middle range kinetic protection in PvE.

Ya ya ya, wait for the combat balace...

i agree with you on the low HAM thing, but yes,

we are gonna have to wait on the armor/combat rebalance for the other armor to improve.

i currently am using padded armor, with composite gloves and boots.

its nice to look different

Hehe, I tryed to get some padded armor made for me, but what the armorsmith told me was a realistic observation.

Padded armor sucks.

If the stats are made to be at least as good as ubese (usually with a slightly better base i think) , the HAM is pretty much as high as composite!

That means theres no advantage to using padded unless its for appearance purposes!

God, what were the devs thinking?

try this, just use a comp helmet, comp chest plate, comp gloves and comp boots, NO PANTS BRACERS OR BICEPS, this will keep your seconadaries high enough to fight unbuffed and be effective and provide full protection

well i use the padded for looks anyway, and not a full set, just chest, bracers and boots, along with fencer defenses i do alright.

i am a Tailor after all, so i tend to rather die in style!

Kliknik shells make nice light suits, but the kinetic resists are a joke. Great for faction missions though.

Whhhat? Kinetic resists are useless in faction missions! Its energy that is useful on factional missions.

Also, you can use a regular advanced segment to make the chitin and use the klicknik enhancers (NOT segments) to lower the HAM and leave the resists as they were.

Also, using kliknik enhancers isnt realistic on large factory runs because you would need a LOT of them.

keaka thats where your wrong, you wont get hit no matter what, since the last "armor hole" fix, Just wearing a Helm, Chest, boots and gloves, it provides FULL protection, i take on nightsisters and the Death watch bunker npc's all the time, never once have i been hit for full damage, try it out, could be one of the best kept secrets perhaps? lol.

Of course those peices will wear somewhat faster, but are also cheaper to buy and make lol. Try it tonight. Just do NOT wear any type of other armor, get some "clothing" pants to put on, you can wear a shirt of course too, but dont wear a ubese shirt, sorta messes things up i determined.

I will give it a shot. I wasnt aware of this bug.

I tried this, with Boots, Chest, Gloves, and Helm only and my action bar took hits. Fighting elders normally my hams barely go down, but if I leave off my pants and just have boots my action bar goes down around twice as fast as my health.

Looking through my combat spam from when I leave pants off I see a fair number of hits going through without armorreduction. I think there are hits getting through... or something. I dunno :,

I was a little put off by the weight of the first few sets I made. As with other armor types, you can get it lighter....at the expense of resists.

Have you actually used "kliknik ENHANCERS"?I have yet to see any of these and I have many friends that bring me loot from the cave. Been there many times myself as well.

Using the shells gives a nice energy resist and reduces the weight. (I may be confusing this with my Ackley padded, but pretty sure this is the case.) Again...great for faction missions. I wear a Kliknik Chitin helm with my Ackley padded suit for this.

Kliknik shells are not enhancers, they're segments. The guide is wrong on this. I have a suit sitting in my house made with klik shells. Total HAM is in the 140ish range for all 3 stats. If you ever get to Kettemoor, send me a tell. I'll be happy to provide the WP.

No need for factory runs. The segments just have to be "similar". You can actually mix looted kliknik shells with different serial numbers. Not sure how they come out, I wasn't interested enough to compare. I just put some in the schematic to see if it would take them. It won't let you mix loot and crafted seg though.

(sorry, pressed submit instead of quote, its late, my mistake)

Anyway, From what I've seen of this, the arm pieces and pants while not directly blocking hits, seem to block a sort of 'splash' area damage. It may not register in the combat log, but every now and again, if I only wear those reduced bits (helm, chest, gloves, boots), I will get hit for a higher amount, even if its 'blocked' in the combat log. Also tend to notice higher damage mostly from ranged weapons using the reduced suit.

Just my observation.
