Bazaar/Vendor

  • Vendors that are empty will no longer be visible on the planetary map (Ctrl-V).

  • Vendors that have been left empty or abandoned for two weeks will be deleted (owner will receive a warning message prior to deletion).

  • Email notifications have been added to advise vendor owners of the status of their vendor.

  • Fixed a bug that caused items to sometimes vanish from vendors.

  • Vendor item limits will now be based on player skill. (Players over either limit will not be able to add new items for sale on vendors).

Artisan Business 3 Get (1) Vendor, that will hold (50) items, for a total of (50) items for all vendors

Merchant Novice Get (2) Vendors, that will hold (60) items, for a total of (120) items for all vendors

Merchant Management 1 Get (3) Vendors, that will hold (70) items, for a total of (210) items for all vendors

Merchant Management 2 Get (4) Vendors, that will hold (80) items, for a total of (320) items for all vendors

Merchant Management 3 Get (5) Vendors, that will hold (90) items, for a total of (450) items for all vendors

Merchant Management 4 Get (6) Vendors, that will hold (100) items, for a total of (600) items for all vendors

Merchant Master Get (6) Vendors, that will hold (110) items, for a total of (660) items for all vendors

The above was posted on the In Testing board with changes to merchant. They are really taking a draconian approach to limiting the number of items.

Now, the original post was deleted from the board so I'm going to assume that they might be making more changes. Either way, thought it was a good idea to post this so everyone is aware what is happening. Be aware, voice your opinion.

In my opinion, this is a game breaker for me. Even if the number is doubled, I don't see how anyone would want to be a crafter or merchant because you'll now spend most of your gaming time stocking your merchant unless you play the game 4 hours or more a day. This is an intolerable change for me.

Well, that's my 2 cents on the subject.

Personally I think there are some very good ideas in the revamp

    BUT

The max items figure is AARRRRRGGGHHHHH

    Its not a feasible figure.

    Its a joke surely!

I would just like to say that Sony has given me one thing. A truely new experience: considering Microsoft to be the lesser of two evils.

Oh don't get me wrong, the rest of the publish is very very good.

But the item count change poisons it.

My furniture vendor always has 300-400 items on it and my structure vendor has over 100 on it unless there has been a serious run on it. My wife has a Master Tailor with 6 vendors and every one of them has over 100 items on them.

Agree - they put this in and I'll shut down - it would kill my furniture business and I'm not interested in assessing the mix left on the vendor each day and then just replacing the items that got purchased the day before.

I posted this in the Merchant forum and now I'll do it here.

    This is an OUTRAGE.

As a Master Merchant, I have more items up for sale on ONE vendor than I could have on ALL SIX!!

Do the developers even play this game?

I remember calls to "help" the merchant, I don't believe anyone ever said "merchants are too powerful, they need to be nerf'd"

Just like AFK entertainers and the hologrind, a lot of the database issues will clear up when people who don't have the skill can't have vendors anymore.

I can see setting a limit for the artisan vendor since there isn't much skill required to have it, but as you move up the merchant tree the item limit should increase exponentially until it becomes unlimited at master. In fact, I would go so far as to say spread the item limit out across the profession the way it was done with CH so there's no real advantage of running up only one tree to get more items. I've paid for this profession with skill points, please let me play it.

This game is *NOT* my full time job. For the amount of work this change would require from me, you need to pay me at least the federally mandated minimum wage. There should also be a nice benefits package included. I understand that I can't have two weeks vacation because my vendors will all implode, but I'm willing to overlook that.

I mean, do you realize that I can't stock TWO of every piece of furniture I can make in a single vendor at master??

I try to keep TEN of everything (and more of the popular items) in stock.

Click the link in my sig and let's just put an end to this now.

Now now everytime is a good time to be hostile.

With the lastest vendor fixes on pub 9vendors are working fine for me with limitless items. Seems to be working just fine to me as is with no change needed to the limit. The other changes are excellent and welcomed though.

Those numbers are definitely way too low. An architect with basic merchant skill wouldn't e able to even keep 1 of each furniture item in stock. Crafters pride themselves on a well stocked vendor. They would be taking that away from us. I'm not talking about having 50 of everything, limits in the 50-60 items per vendor wouldn't let us stock even 1 of everything. Then when you have a successful shop that is selling things it will sell out items relatively fast, thats the measure of success. With such low limits you'd constantly have to restock everything all the time. We're not stockboys. THis is not good for crafters.

As it is its hard for customers to find well stocked vendors. If you make it hard for active crafters to keep their vendors well stocked then the game will have nothing but poorly stocked vendors. THis is not good for our customers.

Its not good for crafters. Its not good for customers. What is it good for? Before they "fix it", could they maybe tell us what the problem is? Why do they need to limit items on vendors? What will that help?

I've always actively tried to avoid any form of exploiting. The raising of Merchant xp in order to get extra vendors and map status, then dropping it all yet still retaining the status was a huge bug/exploit which needed to be addressed. I've always played by the proper limits and raised skills and kept skills so I could run 5 vendors. So what do I get for actually playing by the rules ???

A huge kick in the teeth by being told I may well only be able to stock 100 items on each vendor !! LOL ! I currently stock more than 4000 items on these vendors. There is no way I am cutting down to 500 then having to craft 24/7 in order to keep a full compliment of stock.

I either give up totally or in order to be able to keep a semi decent vendor and not run out of items every 30 minutes, I raise my prices through the roof, thus screwing the already screwed economy even more.

Has anyone found a good reason for why such ridiculous limits are being proposed ?

    This is foolish.

If we think we got it bad, think about Chefs, Armor & Weapon Smiths. You have to be a Master Merchant, which means crafters will have to drop their combat profession.

With out a combat profession, game will be come a labour camp. And there will be mass quitting. Less crafters that can't keep the stocks needed will result in a massive price influx...

I am sorry, but it is really getting to be too much. My character Sita is a Master Artisan, Master Architect, Master TKA and Scout 1000, and I have been a Master Architect since January. I have no merchant, and I do not want merchant. I want to play the game. I created Sita for my guild, initially purely to serve my guild's needs. I wanted to give her 2 elite crafting professions, but after a month, I got so sick and tired of being killed by even low-level creatureswhile out surveying and doing harvester runs, I took TKM. The scout skills give her some limited terrain negotiation - a must when trying to place a harvester on say Dathomir - and some limited skill at creature harvesting for those all-important hides.

So what are my options here? I have hundreds of items on my vendors, thousands on the furniture ones. I already have to spend entire days each month to restock and to get things that reverted to the stockroom back into the sales room. I do not want to add days to this workload for just sitting next to the vendor.

For me, it is not just the item limit that is unacceptable, it is the vendor limit as well. Merchant is not a fun profession to play, and I do not want to play it. Actually, as I have stated once before in the Merchant forum,it would be better all around if that profession were rolled back into the Artisan profession. No one really wants to spend all those points on something that is no fun to play in the first place, we only take it because we have to.

I will not be getting another account just to grind merchant on it. Actually, if this goes live, I don't see a reason for playing anymore. I hate the jedi, the combat revamp has been pushed out so far it may never happen, JTL holds no interest for me (I am not into twitch games), the stop on looping macro's and the probable demise ofbuffbots will mean the end of PVP for my PVP toon - I am European, and playing on a US server. And no, changing to a European server is not an option - hell, at this point, the community is all that keeps me in game, and that community for meis on Bloodfin, not the European servers.

It depresses me how little common sense is evident in the SOE development team. I keep wondering if they ever even play the game on a live server, and if so, if they do it 1) without cheating 2) as a real working crafter, entertainer, smuggler or any other of the neglected professions. I keep hearing combat this, GCW that, and while I am an active PVPer, that is not all there is to this game. I have seen more and more crafters and casual gamers being driven out of this game since I started. It struck me just the other day how Tyrena, a busy town full of new players when I started in December, is a complete ghost town these days. All new players now seem to arrive in Mos Eisley, but even Eisley now is not as busy as Tyrena was then.

I am getting so dreadfully fed up with all this crap. I play this game for entertainment, not to get more stress heaped on me at every turn. Why the hell should I play a game that gives me more sheer WORK than running my RL company does?
