Thread: Why Architects ARE the SWG Jedi

Jedi/Force Sensitive Characters are more popular that Architect in SWG. I haven't seen any stats, and i would bet my life savings on it. Here are some reasons why Arch is like the jedi of SWG

"Adventure (heh), Excitement (heh) a jedi craves not these things"- definantly applicable to the Arch profession.

Not a quote but definantly a theme of Jedi- should not seek material goods, knows that the true power comes from within-eg who has been an Arch for more than six months. Now look at these people and tell me they are doing it for the money and glamor.

In this time period Jedi should be the rarest of rare characters (since Luke and Leia are supposed to be their only hope) Yet Jedi are as common as every 13-year old with a high speed internet connection

Yoda and Obi-Wan lived in meak and humble surroundings having only enough to live on, never in excess. (when was the last time you saw an Arch throwing down 10M for the latest +3 Armor Experimentation CA.)

Darth Vador leaves only 2 alive, Yoda and Obi-wan . The Devs will leave only 2 alive, Soon Pawlin and Dvnce will be able to supply all servers with their arch's needs.

When was the last time an Arch had 300 APP points because he trained people in Arch skills?

Ok i am running out of ideas so it's RANT time, skip ahead if you don't care =)
You want to know how to tell we're being neglected. Look at the forums. There are only about a dozen people who post regularly. I can read a post and i know 90% of the people posting. Elyssa, Pawlin, Dantanglo (i'll never be able to spell your name without looking right at it), Dvnce, Me, RavingBantha, bluejean, KRONOS, and a couple others who i cannot think of off the top of my head. Every other profession board has a wide variety of people posting and asking questions. But what do we have, all we can post is "They're ignoring our profession" and "why don't they pay attention to us" posts. I am not critisizing anyone for these posts but i am just saying that it's frustrating, we are not attracting any new professsionals, and that should be a sign to the Devs that there is a lot wrong with Arch. These are the Archs OVER ALL SERVERS!!! Notice there aren't even enough to cover all servers. This should send bug Red Lights with bells and whistles to the Devs saying "Wow look at the number of Archs we have, maybe we should do something to help this profession out a little" But they either don't get that or they say "well i bet if we added candles, that would save the profession"

Amazing stat of the Day-My guild has not 1, not 2, but 3 MAster Archs in the guild. Isn't that amazing. I think we could be rightfully called the Arch guild of SWG. I bet, if things keep up the way they are, there will be entire SERVERS without 3 MArchs in it. There probably are already plenty of habitable planets that have 3 or less M. Archs, and I even mean Tat, Naboo and Corellia, not the less habitable ones. The fact that this is even something to be proud of tells how sad the shape of Arch is.

There are other indicators too, look at the time of the most recent posts on these forums. Now compare it to any other profession board, i bet you will find that the earliest time on the first page is almost always from the Arch profession, compared to all the other professions.

Okay the rant is over, i am just extremely frustrated with Arch right now. I love it, but SWG is definantly testing that love.

funny thing is he is right, I recognises almost all the regular posters here as well. I mainly just lurk a little though.

Yet yesterday when I was travelling from Tatooine to lok to check on some harvesters, I saw not 1, not 2, not 3, but 4 MASTER architects in the brief journey to eisley space port. Now. including myself, that made 5 on tatooine, not including the 2 other master architects in game that I know of.

Quick confusing question for you - If architect is in so much trouble, how come there were 7 of us on Tatooine yesterday?

Second confusing question for you - How come I make the money to maintain my vendors and harvestors by selling hide and meat to a local armoursmith and chef, Rather than selling stuff like architect products?

I believe that a small percentage of SWG players take the time to post on the boards, much less the profession specific boards, so that may account for why you saw 5 Master Architects despite there being a dozen or so of us here on the board.

Man, that's one hell of a run on sentence.

Supply and demand: there is less demand for architect goods, so there will be less architects. But if you're worried that if there are not many architects, who cares? more business for you.

You are correct, the lack of activity on this board is obvious: lets see... at this moment, number of threads on each profession board with new posts today:

Weaponsmith: 26
Armoursmith: 21
Chef: 8
Tailor: 8
Droid Eng: 8
Shipwright: 7
Architect: 4

Pretty obvious that the activity of weaponsmiths and armoursmiths is considerably higher than any other profession. No prizes for explaining this.

Archis (and many other profs) are overdue for some loving and I'm sure the Devs are aware of this and judgiing from recent communications from them we should be expecting some loving in the not too distant future.

Yals, your signature says it all. What was the date again on that note from the devs regarding upgrading non-combat profs? Oh that's right, over 3 months ago.

I love arch, but I recently hit a wall. Not much business (other than selling resources on the bazaar), and not many solicitations despite the "master" tag floating above me. Seems like nobody needs us anymore...

lol funny because it's true. I quit playing like a year ago and recently came back only to find Jedi running around like chickens with their heads cut off. It's like Jedi Outcast or knights of the old Republic on my server. You can't spit without hitting a Jedi in any major city. The Jedi hang out and show off their lightsabers and yelling such Jedi-esque phrases such as, "pwnz joo n00b!!11". And they all have such colorful, in character Jedi-esque names such as, "imajedikillu" and, "nosepicka".

What happened to the Developer creed before Beta that there would only be a handful of Jedi per server? I believe they never should have handed out holocrons and told people how to be a Jedi. And I still think one of the "secret" requirements for Jedi should have been an age check heh

I realize not everyone posts who is a M-Arch, but that's the same for every profession.

When i woke up this morning, i thought to myself "That may be the most incomprehensible thing i have ever written" but apparently some people at least understood some of it

I read most of the posts, but I usually don't reply unless I feel my input would have some meaning(i.e. something other than "me too" or the other usual replies).
I know several archs on my server(WH), 2 of which are masters.
And most of my creds come from resource sales.

I completely agree I don't even bother looking here more then once every few weeks or months in that case but i'm about 90% sure me and dvnce are probably the two oldest architects on our server mastering within the first week or two and are some of the last standing. I did a small survey and have figured out about 25 people give or take a few are still architect on Gorath. On top of that most of them never come on or don't stock vendors, hell I don't even bother stocking mine anymore.

I've been an architect on Gorath since before there were gungan heads.

There's no other crafting profession I would want to be.

I'm almost always on and try to keep my vendors well stocked.

Then again, I spent the better part of a year acquiring property until I could put my store where it is now (and location reallyis the key to success).

Being the only crafter in my guild gets me down sometimes but I'm used to working without support.

The ring of the cash register keeps me company, tho.

heh. would be nice if it rang more. I quit back in, what, September? August? Missed saving my house from rot by only a few days and my vendors by about six weeks. But while stuff was still up, I made 1.8m (and I wasn't even in the game). How much would an armorsmith or weaponsmith have made in similar conditions?

I'm a very recently mastered architect and went this way for my alt as my guild had the need for an architect and so far so good.

I generally lurk in the forums and post now and again when i have time, but thats the way i am on most forums here and elsewhere, as I generally post something constructive when i do and not just spam.

I'm keeping the profession going as my guild have a need and if i make a few sales now and again to the guild it will do me but i am finding i'm getting more and more orders for furniture and one offs rather than major harvestor sales now.
