I wonder how much the "Alt" character syndrome comes into play. I know most guilds have an Alt architect hanging around to supply the guild with houses, harvestors, etc... My guild gives houses away to new members... That's gotta kill housing sales.

Yeah, first time around, I was subsidizing the guild by producing all their housing out of my profits. Wasn't hard though. Andthey paid me for city structures. Now that I'm back, I'm flying solo (i.e.: without the guild. Not because of that, but just because I felt like it.

Maybe they must rename Architects to Jedi and Jedi to Architects…
but more I see more Architects come and even more go away, Architects is profession with many don’t like to stay for long.

Not to rub salt in any Stimpack-E level wounds, but I have to say, On Radiant, I have been getting lots of unsolicited requests lately. I play about 2-3 hours a night, and I generally get 1 request from someone I don't know each night.
Now, part of that may be because I recently stopped spending a lot of time on Naboo, and I've moved to Lok. Perhaps the change has done me good!
Now, even though I'm getting more solicitations, people have unreasonable expectations. One guy asked me to build him small and medium houses. I told him I'd charge 16k for small and 35k for medium. (He wanted lots of them). He told me he could get them elsewhere for 6k! I told him that'd be well under my cost, and to have a good day.
Had an email from him the next night--16k would be fine....
Stick to your guns, folks!
On a side note--I'm currently writing an application that will allow you to plug in a bunch of stuff, and determine your actual cost-per-unit for resources and goods. I started with something similar to the resource calculator you see floating around, but I included a few other things, like "shutdown cost" for harvesters and factories. I've discovered that my cost for resources has never been above 1cpu, even in a situation where a harvester was re-deeded after only 1 day. I'd be happy to share the app once I get it done (if I get it done....work seems to get in the way!)

I saw a few others introducing themselves, so I guess I will jump on the bandwagon. I recently began the trip up the archi skill tree and have been enjoying it. Business is not exactly booming on Bria, but it is sufficient to keep me from resorting to resource sales. I have found a steady market for homes and harvesters I can only attribute to new players and toons new to Bria.
I am about halfway to master archi and think I will continue, though plenty of people advise me to become an armorsmith. I don't really see alot of competition in my little corner of the galaxy, as many architect vendors are sitting around collectin gunemployement checks. I hope that doesn't change
Are any of you posters making a living in Bria?

I'm not an arch - i did it for a holo a year ago (sorry) but did keep it a couple of months. Anyway, perhaps the reason there is less business for you guys lately is due to 2 things, the jedi, of course, but also - many of the planets are full now, its hard to find space for a new city, and therefore there is less demand for structures. Also, many guilds have an arch of their own so don't need to find and external business.
just a thought

What you want to do is encourage people like me - pathalogical decorators.
I love decorating. I especially love seeing how 'Star Warsy' I can get somewhere to look - ie dirty, grimy, broken-down and used. It's not easy, as I'm sure you know.
But I go through phases - encourage people like me and you'll never want for furniture (and component) sales.
Sponsor or encourage cities to sponsor Interior Decorating competitions.
Put some of your components up for sale, or on display so we can see them.
Advertise to the decorator.
Hope that helps.
