Thread: Black Tuesday

First off - I'm overjoyed that the thread Dvnce started had such a positive impact, that the devs listened to the concerns there. Yep, as I look at the initial annoucement, and look at the notes for the update... oh wait - there are NO changes. Seems the Devs made up there mind to go ahead regardless of what was said.

You know, I bought the game on the day it came out - Mastered Artisan, then Mastered Architect - never looked back, I've never given it up. There were annoyances along the way, and some disappointments (lights, decay) but whatever. This time though it's like being slapped in the face. I feel like a Smuggler all of a sudden.

I'd just like to know - what was the thinking behind this move?? Was it simply pandering to the people a little to clueless to keep the maitenance up on their stuff (and yes, I count myself as a clueless one leaving harvesters far to long)or is this a subtle nerf to make us drop our prices over the short term?? I mean, some context for the decision would be awesome, instead, the decision is made and people are left wondering.

Great communication policy.

Perhaps there are other changes down the road that will make up for this. Who knows - for now though - time to give a game a break while the dust settles on this.

Pretty much exactly the point I tried to make in the feedback thread. This is just too strange to come out of the blue sky without some sort of greater plan in mind - whether it is to refocus us on GCW structures or remove us all together.

The hardest thing to accept in all of this is, as you say, the complete lack of context around this decision.

Personally, I'm gonna hold out hope this this move is just the first step in a plan that will untimately do more good than harm.

I don't sell a lot of houses and harvesters but I have an aggressive expansion plan that involves claiming all the property on the front line south of Coronet. I own a LOT of it now but this effectively brings my expansion plans to a screeching halt since the buildings around me will never poof.

I HOPE it will get better.

I also understand the track record we're dealing with, too.

Maybe this will turn into something like last time and we'll be calling it Temporary Black Tuesday.

I know.
I was so close to consolidating my empire.
Oh well. I've still got the best store location in the game.

I have seen alot of people come and alot of people go from this game, I myself took a 3 month vacation from this game, I kept my characters active and I logged in from time to time, but I never really played during those 3 months, I have always loved this game. I think that the biggest reason that is happening is that people are quitting with Large Bankrolls, we all know that in a "normal" economy that money has to recycle through to keep the economy rolling.

I personally dont think that this is a slap in the face and/or a way to get us to ultimatly lower our prices. However I do think that that it was probably looked upon as a way to get cash that is out there , back out into the economy and not thought all the way through on how it would impact the rest of the populous. As we all know they (the devs) throw out some wacky stuff. We have all seen some crazy stuff.

ALL in all though we love (or at like) the game or we wouldnt be paying 14.99 or (double that for 2toons)a month to pay it. We all could go to WoW and encounter new and unknown problems like server wait times.

BUT I love this game and I love to complain about stuff. Its how we deal with things. I love being an arch. I had to become a resource dealer to make my income what it once was. The game is everchanging. I just try to look on the bright side and Hope to god that some dev drinks enough to realize that the arch profession needs some help.

BTW I think of U all as brothers/Sisters from another mother and hopefully if we complain enough we can get a change. We can be like the wookiees who created characters on one server and staged a sitin to crash it just to get armor, they got armor Maybe if we get enough archs to sit in coronet on a server we can get some changes.... My rant is over and I approve this message

As a New player to the game for the last 3 months the biggest thing i dont like about this game is the amount of Inactive accounts/houses of people that have left.

This doesnt allow new players just coming in the game a fair oppurtunity to enjoy playing this game. Everyday I get more frustrated with all the land tied up with inactive players. Me and a Buddy wanted to start a city on naboo but we came to find out We Cant drop a city hall. Is this fair to New Players coming into the game?

How do you expect to keep my attention in this game if i'm not allowed all the oppurtunities to play this game like the players that have left that are taken up all this space in the game.

A character Purge is needed ASAP or i fear my intrest in this game will be short lived and another game will most likely get my intrest.

Don't worry - after awhile the slapping makes your face numb so you won't notice future injustices

Seriously though - I hope this gets changed because I don't relish swooping through the wilds bumping into dead houses, dead harvesters, dead factories every 3 metres.

Cheers

I think they should allow Smugglers a chance to slice into "abandoned" buildings and harvesters... who knows what you might find? It might make playing a Smuggler exciting for a weekend... AND would redistribute the wealth... lol

There is an inactive toon purge in the works. I think the problem is a cart before the horse syndrome. This is driven by a bug that they are having trouble with. Shouldn't nerf structure destruction before you implement charecter purging and structure decay.. But... we can't have customers having their uber loot go poof now can we. We just get the short end of it. I'm sure some combat thing will be more important.
