I was made almost physicaly ill last night not once, twice, or three times but 5 when i saw people selling small generic houses under 10k & 1 instance it was 5k. People we can sell small houses & demand a fair price for it. Consider the architects time investment, investment in upkeep on installations, cost of powering up installations, Survey time, & the price of ore in general before you make an insane choice of selling a house for less than what the ore is worth on the open market. doing the math a small generic house costing out the resources used at 3cpu should sell for no less than 10k. even 10 is too low as it doesnt pay you for the time you spent or the money you spend on maintaining your equipment. I have in the last 3 days sold 2 small generics a day for 15k each, that in my view is a fair price to compensate me for my time & effort. If people tell you it's too high then too bloody bad for them. You don't see the armor or weapon smiths undercutting like you see in our profession & cudos to em for it. so if people are willing to pay 20 to 35k for a pistol why cant they pay us a fair friggin price for our goods. I won't lower my price what i ask for a house 15k for a small is fair & I find that if i stick to it then i will sell that house. Consider folks can still hunt on Lok for 6 to 8k per mission & same with Dathomir, those are the exact same people who complain we charge too much. We don't they are just cheap & if everyone was to hold firm & not lower price for the sake of a quick buck then they would pay the price you ask. Right now they know if they whine about the price enough they can get an architect to lower price. How do i know this , easy ive sat in the starports listened to them as they come off the shuttle bragin to each other then I hit my macro to sell & do the old shout advert & you can bet your assmost of the tells i get have the same reply to the price no way thats too high. I tell em fine then to go on their way & buy from someone else who is willing to settle for less. But theres allways 1 or 2 who are willing to give you what you want for it with out bitching. I talked to a few architects who were selling at under 10k for smalls. They all had the same concerns & a few of em even had some really good suggestions like limiting the amount people can cary on em so they have to store it & also cut the SD box size in half. I was in agreement with this guy since i have at times been carying insane amounts of ore & goods. If they can carry 4 times what a house holds then wheres the motivation to buy 1. So in closing folks please think before you price as I see it small houses are going the way of the PME theyr almost viewed as dissposable.

"Paragraphs are your friend."

Heh... hey, at least he used punctuation. And spelled out "are" and "you". That's a couplesteps up from some posts out there.

Anyway, yes, your concerns are shared as evidenced by past threads on this subject. I generally get my prices by figuring 3 credits per unit resource and rounding up a bit. Honestly, if I sold my structures for 1.5 cpu, I'd probably still make a profit. An extremely small one, and not worth the work in my opinion, but a profit nonetheless.

The bottom line is that it's a free market. As much as you might not like it (and neither do I), undercutting/lowballing is a legitimate way to play. All we can do is stick to our guns. Like you, I have no problem selling at my prices.

As an aside, I think that if they make experimentation useful for Architects, enabling us to affect the upkeep costs and output of our structures, it will help somewhat. Those out there who refuse to pay more than 2 credits per unit can get the crap... the low-quality resource and failed experimentation structures... while those willing to pay a reasonable price can get the good stuff.

One final comment... be careful with this. Were those all Architects, and were those their regular prices? Some could be people who upgraded and are selling off their old stuff and don't know better. Or maybe it's an Architect who's been carrying something around for days and just wants to get it off his hands. I know I've done that a few times before...

"... undercutting/lowballing is a legitimate way to play."

Perhaps, but should a person have the ability to have 2other full-time jobsAND be anArchitect. So they can afford to run a business model that's noteven profitable? I'm not advocating lowering the skill level, I am saying thata person shouldn't be able to have the TIME todo all of these things AND be full-time Architect.

I'm sure there are plenty of people out there making almost no money on the buildings, but don't even care or realize it because they can get money so easily from so many other places.

Unprofitable business models shouldn't be allowed to be viable! That's different than undercutting.

I agree that 10-15k is a fair price, but the only thing that really erks me about people who sell that low, is when then do it when I'm not around to buy it.

Because I know I can sell a small house for 10-15k and that is total lowball to sell lower, I just buy theirs and resell it at a normal price.

Same as the bazaar. If people are lowballing resource prices, I buy and raise them.

Although this may encourage them, I think most will PL and then drop out cause they are just there for the title. For me, its an easy buck, with no consumed resources, no crits, and no hassle. I've gotten anywhere from 5-12k on a small house depending on how clueless they are. And if I'm real lucky I find someone lowballing a medium or a large.

Does it suck? yes. Are people going to do it? yes. 13th rule of acquisition.... there is always a way to profit....especially if the world isn't real.

The last time i saw something like that first post was in the US government's tax law (where one sentence was 137 words long....really!).

As a consumer, i just have to say: Competition is a wonderful thing.....

I myself as a master weaponsmith can understand the pains of making very little profit.

I came into the game well over a month after release and there were quite a few master weaponsmiths on my server so i could not even sell one weapon till i hit master.I burnt over 500,000 steel for it and made not a dime till i hit master.

Now I have to give prices that are attractive to the customers because they have so many choices and in many cases be forced to buy resources at 20 cr per unit due to the recent bad shifts we had on chilstra.

But it is all part of the game ,expect competition and be ready to battle back.

I doubt anyone will sell at a lose unless of course they are upgrading.

I seen many small houses go for 8k and medium for under 45k .

However the folks selling it all told me they made a profit and was happy since they sell very many in a day plus they have the luxury of actually making money while "levelling" to master(note all this folks had their own extractors).

I seriously doubt that... Architecture is a lot of work. Why would someone go through all that for no reward if they have other ways of making money?

Small houses sell incredibly fast at 8k, and more than pay for my harvester and power cost. I can get all I need for exp and make a bit of cash at the same time. By the time I hit master I wont be making small houses anyway.

Moshi would you pay more then 500cr for a 51-100 dmg scout blaster?

No you would not and thats what you get from using everyday common resources.

You would want advanced components and most weaponsmiths have to buy them because they have either not spawned in a while and we are forced to pay stupid prices for them or if you are lucky you stocked some a while ago in some shift.

Then you take this rsources that you paid 10-25 cr per unit for and keep burning them till you get a great success .

So yes it is easy to see why a good scoutblaster cost more then a small house.
