Thread: PLEASE SOE FIX THE CRIT FAILS
As much as I dont like it either. There has to be a failure somewhere? If not what is the point in having a 100% perfection. We might as well forget even crafting. The only way to have a perfect craft is in a factory. And even then. In real life there are failures.
It happens.... I feel ya dawg. I think I have lost about 30k myself in failures.
HP
Tools, stations, quality of materials. That stuff don't mean jack when it comes to crits. It's been proven time and again. Anyone that tells you different is full of BS. It's an Urban Legand, a myth, etc.
then explain to me why myself and other master architects I know DON'T experience the failure rates that are constantly complained about? we have the same skills. Those three things are about teh only differences I can see that might be teh difference.
There are several dozen posts on this as well as a few stickies that I put up myself (none directly titled "crit failed" but they are stickied for a reason). There is no need to start a new thread about this. Rest assured that I am working on getting devs to look into it. The process is long, but I'm optimistic that we will have this issue addressed eventually.
Not to worry, I'm on the job =)
I think the failure rate is just fine... when i was young and just starting out I lost 2 mediums and a house in a row...
using +1 tools and a +9 station I upgraded....
and since that time i have failed on (countless wall segments)3 walls and making a turbine that was to be a schematic
am i have successfully completed 12 heavies, 28 mediums, 2 large houses and so many medium houses i can't count
I use a +42 station and +13.9 tools...
i would say that the tools did help
still not a master 3044 architect (plus i am a Mon Cal 10% structure bonus)
yea this topic has been talked about many a time before this...the crit fail system now is dumb....yea i agree that some crit fails make sense and are realistic, but losing all the parts cause you fail the final combine IS WRONG.
i read this comment the other day on a thread like this, if anyone can argue that this makes sense i will quit architecture:
"Crit failing on the last combine and losing all the parts that you ALREADY MADE SUCSESSFULLY is the same as if you built a new house in real life....built all the walls, floors, roof etc......but as you hammer in the last nail, the entire house falls down and all is lost"
i dare any of you to give a good reason why losing all the parts you have already made when you crit fail on a final combine makes sense
here ya go....
you can buildthe structural framing for a wall in house, and it will look fine (ie be successful). however, the house could be designed poorly (maybe teh wall can't handle the weight of what is above it, or many other reasons). so as you near completion of the house, that wall fails under load, collapsing the house. how many more reasons you want?

Luck.
It's my belief that crafting stations effect experimentation only whereas tools effect actual combines. This make sense due to what the two objects are used for. Tools for combines, stations for experimentation.
If you are using a high rated tool but a low rated station you won't experience higher rates of criticals on combines you will experience higher rates of criticals and moderate failures on experimentations.
Resources matter. If you don't think they do then you either haven't experimented with them or you aren't looking at the right stats. Stat requirements are not the same across the board.
Skill mods help once I worked on furniture and construction I definatly noticed a lower percentage of crits our skill mods should be raised to keep us even with other crafting professions this will help.
Luck is a factor always will be as long as the random number generator is a part of the process everything else that can be done to avoid crits lowers the effect of the rng. All this said the RNG is streaky it's a common issue with RNG's.
Do I crit fail? yes. Is it often? no (in my career I've failed on 1 factory, 1 medium house, and 1 PA each one hurt at the time but they didn't devistate me).
