Medium Mineral: extraction rate of 7 Hopper size of 65,000 Less power/credits then a heavy.

Resources used: 3607

Heavy mineral: Extraction rate of 7 Hopper size of 100,000 More power/credits then the above hopper but same extraction rate and bigger hopper.

Resources used: 27770

I would think you would charge about the same for both of these harvestors.

Anyone have a simple formula they propose. Whatever the majortiy of us use, that is what the majority of our customers will pay. Should we base it on just extraction rate? Or say a combination fo both? Should a ultra experimentated medium be more thent he base heavy so that people will still want a heavy?

I'm wondering this same thing.

It seems that our prices now are going to center around the KGH rate. It's going to make zero sense to create any heavy harvs unless you can really kick up the extraction rate to make it worthwhile.

Alot of people are going to be happy that mediums can now do 7.0 (I've already made three of them, and am tempted to go place them in stead of a few of my heavies out there).

Right now a medium mineral with a base rate, my price is 13k. I charge an extra 10k per kgh above base rate.

Even this idea is a bit flawed. A 13k priced medium base, set up to 7.0 KGH would be 43k. That's far cheaper than a base heavy at 75-100k (whatever ppl sell it for).

Not to mention a whole lot cheaper in fees.

I was currently charge 15k forwater, mineral, solarmeds, and 50k for chem, gas, and flora meds. Heavies are 125k for mineral and fusion, 110k for chem and flora, 100k for gas, and 75k for water. I was planning on adding 20k for each extraction point over base (4/7).

Prepatch stuff will end up a bit cheaper, allowing newbs to afford it while in stock, and miners can pay through the nose for the best stuff (just like combats will pay for top weapons). If someone wants a medium that pulls like a heavy, they can pay for it (close to base heavy cost). If they just want one to cover the oddball resource they need once in a while, they can go with a cheaper one. Also, the best mining components will still only add 3-4 points to extraction rate, so the price doesn't even double for heavies(except water).

Mediums will be slightly more efficient now, but heavies will still pull significantly more resources.

I think they plan on dropping the amount we can crank up medium pull rates with the changes mentions in schems. They may change the scale the extraction rate ramps up for the mining comps in mediums, to something like 1 to 3 instead of 1 to 4 like for heavies. For example, the LOMU only gets a 1 bonus at 1-33%, 2 at 34-66%, and 3 from 67-99%. This would cap the mediums at 7, but require that mediums all take a different mining component than the heavies, so new schems for us.

It is also possible that they cut the bonus from each part in half, but stack. Heavy Gas take 2 FDPUs, so effectively no change; but Med Gas takes 1, so bonus cut in half. Caps mediums at 6, just below minimum heavy. But GM did say that the best mediums would match the worst heavies. And they would still have to adjust the LOMUs for Med Mins.

I'm clueless as well. I am against undercutting the other architects but we should have an agreed price on these items. I've seen Medium Extractors for as high as 22k and as low as 11k. On my server the going rate seems to be 15k. I've also seen small houses going for as low as 2500 and as high as 12k. Mine are going for 8499 just to be different.

It's been a while since I studied "supply and demand" but I do realize that it's on a sliding scale. I'm willing to conform to a base price if we can agree on one.

I like the idea of charging on a per KGH over base.

The only issue with that becomes that it will totally push out any base heavy harvester. Everyone will be buying up 7.0 KGH'd mediums, and revel in the lower maintenance fees. Nobody will want a 7.0 KGH heavy with higher maintenance costs.

To that end, you'd think that the uber-mediums would need to be priced actually above a base heavy. So the decision becomes "Pay less but higher maintenance, or pay more and lower maintenance". Even then, pay more initially, but in the long run it'd pay off in the lesser maintenance costs.

It's a real confusion.

11kg/hr Heavy Mineral 280k

11kg/hr Heavy Chemical or Flora 250k

11kg/hr Heavy Gas 230k

17kg/hr Fusion 265k

8kg/hr Medium Mineral 50k

I've sold a bunch of them so far especially the medium mineral miners. I'm also selling the parts so that any architect can make 11kg/hr heavy, 17kg/hr fusion, or 8kg/hr medium harvesters.

Ore Mining Units, Fluidic Drilling Pumps, and Harvesting Mechanisms for 15k per part

Light Ore Mining Units for 10k per part

These parts are all labeled with their experimentation percentage and through actual tests I've personally done any of these parts that is in the 75-92% range will produce a +4 extraction bonus over the base.

Hope for your customer's sake (those who have already purchased) that they don't roll all existing harvesters back to default values in lieu of the new recipes (assuming they have new ones).

Darkflinx,

You're also aware that by selling your parts for 15k, people will be able to use your harvesting units to make harvesters just as good as yours, but sell them at near the current heavy pricing, right? Thus, hurting your own business.

Personally, I hope and pray that they give the last 5 points of experimentation to masters ONLY...so the people who spend 20 points to get novice architect and installations 4, can't make anywhere near as good of a harvester as a master who spent 71 points to get there....

It's almost silly for us to sell the parts for less than the difference of what we would sell the high end harvesters for, otherwise, we just start killing ourselves...AGAIN

I have no intention of changing my prices at 9kph

Higher than that I will follow the flow, and just sell for 20% less than the going rate.

Marthis, I have limited production ability to crank out heavy harvesters. I can manage at best about 5 or 6 per day. It's far more efficient for me to sell parts and schematics to other architects. When customers inquire about my harvesters I'm very upfront about selling the parts as well in case they've got an architect friend that could build the harvesters cheaper for them. Architects who buy my parts usually tell me "these are only for personal or guild use." I really don't care because once they own the parts they're free to do what they wish with them. I'm not one to complain about what other architects sell their stuff for.

I have six lots for harvesters; 1 fusion and 5 11kg/hr heavy miners. That's about 65-70k metals I bring in daily from my own harvesters plus I buy ore and metals in bulk from resource sellers. I get most of my walls from newbies grinding XP which I pay 9k a pop for. I don't have a big enough set up to provide near enough harvesters to match the server demand especially when you consider that half or more of my daily metal harvesting goes towards furniture production which I sell tons of. If they ever fix the wall module factory bug I might put down 1 or 2 more structure factories and crank up production but right now wall mod production drives me nuts.

The best I have come up with is something akin to the following:

Medium harvestors

Base unit, extraction rate of 4 (using mineral as an example) I will charge baed on resources used as before

Fo each extraction rate bonus that gets added I will add abouve 10-15k, but each bonus I add will get a steeper jump thent he one before. Because it will take more trys to get a really goo experimentation on the mining componant. Example

Base medium 15k

Base medium extraction rate of 5 15K+10k=25k

Base medium extraction rate of 6 25k+ 15k=40k

Base medium extraction rate of 7 40k + 20k=60k

Base medium extraction rate of 8 60k+25k=85k

My reasoning. It takes more and more skill and resource managing to get the better extraction rates. An rated medium will use half the power and credits then a heavy. I wont charge more then a heavy ffor them because anything over the extraction rate of 4 is profit, just like the weaponsmiths and armorsmiths get. YOu pay for there skill and experimentation in every gun. If they charged the architect way a t-21 would cost about 2k

I feel comfortable people will pay 60k for medium with the extraction power of a heavy. And there are no factory componants to make it either.

I am working on a similar Heavy harvestor scale. Let me know what you think, but keep it on topic, meaning I want to hear your modles you are using. No, "that is the wrong way to go about it" (Looks at Dayln)
