as we all know as architects our arch nemesis is the CRITICAL FAILURE. i just got one today on a clothing factory. majorly pissed. i always feel like im gonna puke whenver i hit the assemble button. i thought we could all use this post and tell each other tips for how to prevent crit failures.

i never got a crit failure on a factory until i used different ore for eachof the wall strucutres. not sure but that may have had something to do with it.

list ur tips here...

and yea, the true fun of the arch profession is the sick fealing in your stomach as you click to assemble a PA hall.

I have heard anecdotes that using various materials decreases the chance of criticals. There is no proof that this is so, though, nor anything I can find or remember from a dev about this.

Until there is a way of proving it, I doubt the anecdotes are accurate. Not that those people are lying, but in the absence of evidence people will fall to these superstitions. Maybe they are true. Maybe they are delusions. Who can tell?

If they are factual, they can be tested. Man, I sound like my HS science teacher... :/

We all assume you mean Structural Assembly, and despite your misplaced sarcasm, for Architects this skill diminishes in effectiveness asone increases itsgoverning skill tree branch.

Imagine critical failing60 probots in a row with Master Droid Engineer, then you might get the picture of what we're talking about.

I posted about this earlier today as well. While using almost all materials with unit toughness of over 800, I failed on 4 of about 250 hand made items, all 4 were on structural modules.

After that, someone gave me resources(and a fee of course) to make them a wearables factory. I failed on 4 of 37(or so) items including a gen turbine, wall mod and 2 structural mods.

Go ahead and test it Dainn, though I know for a fact my my crit failures have decreased dramatically since making sure almost all my resources were toughness above 800.

Slightly off topic just want to share that I too failed on final combine of a factory. ALL resources lost. That hurt.

I'm working on my first large harvester. Our resources shifted and carb ore disappeared for a little while so I was low on it. I had 5 of the 6 walls ready to go with only about 2 failures on structure mods. I had just failed the structure mod before the 6th wall and I had about 2k ore left. I then failed the wall, that left me with exactly enough to make another wall minus 200 so I sat there and sampled until I had that 200 while I made structure mods. I finally got it all done again and failed a wall AGAIN.

PS: Overall quality is 937, so apparently it doesn't help.

You think a Factory hurts? Wait till you fail on a PA Hall.

"So far, I've never had two critical failures in a row. I sometimes even risk making several multi-component items after getting the critical failure, and haven't lost anything worth mentioning."

Heh I had 2 crits in a row today. thankfully on 2 struc modules but it is certainly possible. I have to say I have relatively few crit failures. I have remade all my tools and stations experimenting them up to 99% with some 999 conductivity copper we had on Lowca for precisely 2 days. Great resource rollover Anyway, while I'm not entirely convinced that the improved tools make HUGE differences which is pretty sad I do think they make some difference.
