Thread: How to prevent CRITICAL FAILURES

Whats even scarier for me is I have on of those screenshots in MY folder. ![]()
Resource types do matter. For the longest time I would crit fail on generators with a high percent, like every other one, until I got a resource combination that worked great and nowInever fails. Part of the 'art of arch' as it were is knowing your resources and knowing where to use them. Those having crit fail problems are either not mon cal or just not using the right ore. BTW no crits on anything big once I hit master, so going up the tree you seem to lose skill but at the top it seems to work fine.
I heard skill enhancements are bugged but I do have a structure complexity one.
Dito for someone who is going to combine there first PA tonight that makes me feel sick as well. I do not think i have had as many criticals as i have had since making Master and I am only using top shelf materials now. If some of those WS saw what i was putting into my structures i think they would have a cow ![]()
I have tried everything in the book to minimize criticals, and I mean everything. All I can say is I am very comfortable with the idea its totally random.I will still rebuild my crafting tools once a week (except for that one special one i have had for a long time which doenst seemd to critical) and harvest only the best materials.
I have just come to the conclusion that i wont build it unless I cant afford to lose it. Right now thats not an issue but a couple PA criticals and I will be back to mediums again.

I'm shooting for my 3rd straight Large House critical failure in a row tonight!! Wish me luck!
I made sure I had the best materials, best stations, and best skills to improve my chances of critting!

As in my recent post about a PA hall crit fail, let me point some things out.
I have the best possible crafting tool (85% full experimentation), the best possible station (all the components, maxed the experimentation), and I am a master. I also used components above 900+ for all parts of assembly and completed the structural blocks around 24-28% success, the walls around 27-30%, and the final assembly had (i think exactly) 906 for the decay resistance on the steel, and 986 for the ore. Decay resistance is the determining factor for quality on housing final assy. I still failed. I then failed a factory, and 8 structural modules in a row after the factory.. earlier in the day I failed a turbine and then an entire mineral extractor. I completed another PA hall last night, and with the same resources finished with a 28%. I have a ratio of 1:5 failures on the PA hall now. I have failed approximately 1:10 on blocks, and 1:20 on walls, and about 1:15 on housing and factories.
you cannot prevent critical fails. I thought I was doing that because I seem to get a better rate on building components but all it meant was that I failed on the final assembly more often.
Please read my post on PA hall critical failures as I discuss the math behind 3 levels of crafting and how the chance to fail adds up.
Trust me on the sick feeling when ready to push the button.. I feel like puking at final assembly now.. I was nervous before but since the PA hall, I feel ill when ready to hit the button. I am on a fast track for getting PA halls out, so I am spending 200k to get the materials. A failure means losing 200k credits, plus other potential customers that will have to wait that much longer.
I recently tried several things I read on this forum, and they seemed to have helped me with critical failures.
First, I remade all my crafting tools and stations with high quality metals (copper, in my case), and experimented on them to get them to 99% Effectiveness.
Secondly, I begin my crafting sessions by making structure modules, and intersperse them with other sub-components I need (generator turbines, ore units, manufaturing mechanisms, etc). Then when I eventually hit a critical failure (hopefully on a structure module), I immediately craft whatever multi-componentitem I'm working on, whether it's a wall module or a deed.
So far, I've never had two critical failures in a row. I sometimes even risk making several multi-component items after getting the critical failure, and haven't lost anything worth mentioning.
Of course tonight, I failed on a medium chemical extractor. But this was because I had run out of resources for making structure mods, and just risked making the extractor deed by itself. That'll learn me!
I am now a Master Architect. Yeah yeah I don't post much but hey what can I say.
The best thing I saw that I did was I used my poorest quality ore for my structure modules. Save your good ore and steel for the wall modules and your best ore and steel for the final combine. I would have 3 stacks and use from them it helped reduce crits.
