Thread: Question about experimentation

Ok, I am at DOM IV right now just a few k from becoming novice chef.

I have a question about chefs, though. Right now I have 7 experimentation points. Can I use those experimentation points in the chef tree? Or only on things in the artisan tree?

Meaning, when I become a chef do I have to start over?

They don't carry over. You have to put up with being back to 2 experimentation points and the horror of 99% of the time failing on experimenting

: jaw drops :

Well, that just blows, doesn't it? Now I know why people think Dom IV is better than Novice Chef.

Yup. My Ruby Bliel blows my Charde out of the water, even though Chardes base stats are better. My skill and bonuses as an artisan crank it up bigtime. In the end it'll be ok, but when you first get there it's stupid. I make and destroy things for xp. The stuff that actually sells well is still DA4 stuff :/

Ugh. I didn't know this. I just got Dom 4 and I'm slowing working up to Novice. For some reason it seems like I've been getting more critical failures since yesterday; anyone notice anything? I just get a sense that failure rate for crafters was upped recently.

Have you been keeping an eye on your combat fatigue? The more combat fatigue you have the more critical failures you have.

I have zero combat skills. My main profession is actally entertainer; I make food as a sideline. So, I don't have any battle fatigue.

I got a lot more critical failures yesterday too. Completely healthy, so it wasn't fatigue. Does quality of crafting device affect failure? I swapped my device with someone a bit ago so I was thinking it might be that.

Does race come into play for experimentation? Also, I don't think a mind score has anything to do with it, but I would like that confirmed by people in the know.

Say you have a +4 tape for experimentation and put it into a socketed (boots, pants, etc). Does this give you four more points?

Thanks in advance,

You Get 1 Experiementation point per 10 Mods, so if you got like a +4 and 2 +3s and dropped them in a pants or whatever, and put them on, then you get one more experemintation point to use.

Heh sorry about the bump there, I was using the search feature to look for information.

I still have a question about how effective experimentation is after training a few levels of cooking. Does the rat eof experimentation failures decrease with the increase in food assembly skills?

I've been abhored by the rate of failures for chef experimentation. I do, however, understand that this is probably due to the fact that my base food assembly skill is only at 20 and complex foods are making it inordinately more difficult to experiment successfully.

Yes, it does suck that we literally start all over with novice chef, but I'll wait and see howadvancing in cooking experimentation affects my perception of the profession.

SirVimes : this has nothing to do with your competence at teh Correspondants position, in fact I think you are doing a great job so far but....

I cannot understand how they can appoint a chef correspondant that isn't even a chef O_o
You are doing an admirable job so far in view of the lack of firsthand experience of the current caft situation, and I qish you good luck in getting Novice soon, but I think it shows a complete lack of thought or attention from Q that someone that is not a member of the profession he/she is charged with being a voice for.

As it happens, you listen to the experienced people, and do have a grasp of most areas, but you are obviously lacking in experience as this post shows, but I will still support you as correspondant currently.
I wonder if the BH correspondant is still a Marksman, or the Architect Correspondant someone that happens to have Eng III and may make Architect sometime ? The vetting process is ludicrous.

Once again, this isnt anything against you, this is just showing my amazement that Q has not got damned clue, and did not even have the foresight to check correspondants are even a member of the related profession!

Please, keep up the good work and apologies for Hijacking the thread, Im just speechless....
