Thread: Architect doomed to be poor?
You know I hear this all the time. The problem isn't your credits, the problem is your patience.
I started with NOTHING.I did a few marksman missions to live and then went straight into Artisan and then Architect. It took me a month solid to Master Architect. I did every scrug work for people possible, hand making over 600 walls on the way to master. The time spent doing so taught me what people need as commodities and as luxury items. I structured business as such and am doing rather well today.

Sales have slowed down in the last month or so, but I'm still making 10 mil/week from my vendor. So, you can still make money at this. You just have to be really good at what you do. Have a great location, advertise on trade forums, keep your vendor stocked and know the market (don't price too low or too high).
It'll take you a while to figure it all out. I don't see this as a dying profession. SOE will add new things that will spark it from time to time (Look at how many floras we sold after they revamped chef). And there will be a new flux of players needing harvesters once the space expansion comes out.
The economy varies a lot from server to server (hmm that sounds familiar), but... I think things have slowed down a bit but there is still a lot of ongoing architect business out there. We don't have a growth economy still but there is still demand out there. And there is some decay in our deeds due to people forgetting or unable to pay the maintenance. We've all seen harvesters on fire. Plus there is gradual turn over of new players. I don't know about you guys but I don't see a large market of used harvesters so I don't think the lack of decay necessarily keeps us from selling deeds to new the demand.
I think the the key thing now to compete in our businessis establishing your name. If you do that well enough then you should be fine. If you don't build up your business's customer base then you are doomed to be poor.
- I will rebuttle this point until the day comes that I do not play this game anymore.

Not all architects are out for a quick buck. Some of us (like me) prefer to sell for cheaper prices just because I still make more money off those inexpensive sales than I'll ever need (including maintenence costs on harvs, factories, power gens, houses, and vendors).
