I amd asking this because recently I was kinda lectured from someone who "had" a master architect on Gorath server.

It takes 20,300 Units of resources to build the average medium house (a little more for some generics) now I used to sell at 55k.. But realised I was selling at a loss to the price I bought the materials at.. a average of about 2.9cpu on Chemaera EURO server.

Now the way I looked at this was to sell for about 62k which was covering my materials cost plus a little profit.

But this guy told me I was on drugs and that "he" sold for 49k sometimes less.

I know some ppl could say sell at whatever price you want. but I thought I'd like to see soe opinions if I could

I charge normaly

Small : 8k
Mediums : 62k
Large : 120k

Thanks for comments are no flames pls

Hi Anubios,

I'm also a Master Architect on Chimaera and have been thinking about the same thing - I started with small houses on 7k and mediums on 60k but they were selling out too quickly so I'm now going to go for small 10K Medium 70K - if those sell out too fast I'll go higher.

I'd rather see some stock left on my vendor occasionally - plus I make these things to complete my range of products but they arent exactly profitable when compared to fusions/harvesters etc.

You can sell the rescources for 2.5-3cpu without effort so super low prices seem unreasonable unless your still getting xp for em?

No I'm maxed out +240k Structure XP.

Just Kinda feeling down about Architecture atm.

My vendor usually has 2 Large, 2 Mediums and about 10 small houses on it at all times.

I sell small houses pretty reguler but mediums not so often. Am I just in the wrong area of the galaxy?
I am still trying to find a good medium for prices to sell houses at.

I sell more factory's that anything else.

I've recently started putting BER 13 Fusions on it for 123k a piece.. if they sell well I may do more.

I recently did a very stupid thing and removed a vendor in my home without remembering to remove all my stock from the stockroom so lost quite a bit of sellable items. Yeah laugh I know it was my fault. Still gutted about it tho.

Smalls 12k, Medium 72k or 82k (generic), large 130k

If you are looking for profit, don't bother with houses, they only go for same or tiny profit over resources.

People selling for less are mining their own resources not buying them, which is why they can sell and still make a profit, but it's pretty dumb when you can make more by not spending ur time making the deed and simply offering the resources on the bazaar.

The other trick is to set your shop up in a small house on boundary of a popular n00b town. Traffic throughput becomes immense and the power to buy now for a slightly higher price as opposed to trawl the galaxy for several hours to save a couple of k, makes a big difference

Have not recieved any complaints so far about cost, but if I did I would tell them where to go. Without large resources supporting you the creation of an individual house is effort and so should be rewarded with profit.

Just remember, the idea is to make money, not sell 5 million things. Of course people will want things lower and lower and lower. Thats the trap many Architects fall for, they think undercutting everyone and getting maximum sales instantly is the way to go. Of course in a finite market they reduce demand by flooding the market with cheap goods but you cant win that argument with them. Al lthey see is a slight profit per item and they think they are Sam Walton.

Sell em a bit higher, dont worry about the people that say they want it all for a song. For the most part they are just trying to get things from you cheaper. I sell at a price that i get a good profit per item or i just dont sell it. Ill be damned if im gonna click click everyday all day and be a slave to this game for a trivial profit per item. I have better things to do with my life. The items i DO sell are sufficient to keep me in business and bank balance growing. I make more money by having things available on demand than i do by volume. Lowballers can only make so many things then they are empty. They have to rely on their lots and the lots of their friends, 2nd accounts etc. They cant make a profit lowballing and BUYING ore... they lose money. So once they are done scurrying around.. buyers will still need deeds etc. The lowballers will have to say "cant make it till tomorrow or i have to charge you more cause ill buy the ore" Now they are in your ballpark. And you have a vendor full to provide the service cause you arent scurrying around comparing how many sales you made with others If they want to wait till tomorrow for the lowballer.. cool! If they want it NOW (this is a game after all.. not real money) They will buy it and everyone is happy.

So its up to you how you play. You can scurry around and make minimal profit off many items or you can relax... do different things and sell at a price thats a bit higher and make more profit per item and still balance the books. Shrug. As long as yer having fun.. If the lowballing gets silly. Just sell the ore you mine to make money in the interim if you have to. That wont last long though, ive had steady rise in income and ive even moved to a less populated planet. Good luck.

Yea after reading you comments (Thanks for them btw) I've decided to adjust my prices and if ppl want them they pay the price or goto the cutthroat builders who won't be around in the long term.

Thanks all for you comments yet again

I usually just try to have stock on the vendor for the impulse buyer, factories are my biggest seller along with BER 10 medium minerial. Factory prices are 50k BER 10 at 35k (due to the low overall server average) Like I say I like to have stock, not sell them all in 2 days flat. The factories, I buy in ready made from other aspiring architects, same thing with my houses, which sell for - small 10k medium 75k large 135k, i don't sell a lot of mediums, but enough to worth stocking them. Some days I think I'm in the wrong area, others I find I have to redo a lot of stock items, or order more in.

My BER 14 fusions sell for 160k, lowest i've seen is 80k, I can put 10 on my vendor and they can go within the day, sometimes it takes 2-3 days, since i can't make in bulk that fast, this suits me fine.

I moved into the heavy market about 4 weeks ago, have been selling them for 170k from vendor, but i still sell around 3-5 mediums a day. To complement this I have been selling resources, power and trainingin the TKA profession. This will no doubt drop off as more find the pleasures of building heavies and selling for 90k, that'll be the time I hang my hat up on architect for a while, till they realise they are not makinganything for the time theyare putting into it.

To be honest there are architects all over the place on chimaera at the moment, every town seems to have 3 or 4, and alot have been selling at 2-3 cpu since the start of the server, most people have a house by now, so I don't think they are going to ever be big sellers again. I mean its not SWG unless you can have a house in the first 10 minutes of the game.

Ouch on the vendor removal, promise I won't remind you of it in game as I've had similar experiences in the past.

I keep raising my prices slightly over time to find a happy medium for speed of sales vs. stock. At first, I just sold to make sure I was making a profit for my time and effort. But the vendor goes empty way too fast, so I started raising 5K everytime I restock. Guess what? Still goes empty. So until inventory starts sitting around and not moving, I'm personally going to keep raising prices. Its not about price gouging or being greedy, its getting fair market value. Hell, I don't even make houses because there is no profit in it. The only house I've made, besides the ones I make for our initial city growlth, is one special ordered the other day. Out of the blue I get a message asking for a large and the person OFFERED 250K. I went ahead and did it for the cash, but normally we never see prices like that for houses. Too me, its not profitable to make houses. I stick to harvesters and factories.

For Tat houses (almost all I ever make) I sell for 8k, 50k, 125k. I know this is somewhat cheap, and as a result I have a hard time keeping them in stock . Often, the smalls are given away, asa means to attract new citizens to the city.

I'm willing to sell houses on the cheap (roughly 3cpu for the materials), because they can be made with grinding materials, and because I don't need to experiment them, thusthey can't crit fail.

Harvesters are sold at a much higher premium, compared with houses. I know I can make more per resource unit on a harvester, but only when I have quality resources on hand. During those lull periods or poor resource spawns, houses, furniture, and factoriesfit the bill.

And regarding housing demands: Until every player on your server is living in at least a medium house, there is definitely a demand for medium and large houses. Most players live in small houses, because that's what they could afford when they first got a house (or it was given to them), but since a medium has the same lot usage as a small, we should really be encouraging medium house upgrades. Players today can definitely afford them!

Same goes for furniture. How many (rich) people do you know who have completely unfurnished homes? It's sad...very sad. Architects would do well to _remind_ their fellow players about the virtues of a well decorated home.
