Thread: Sharing items within a PA Hall or house?

How can I share items with other members of my guild? For example, I have 10k of Steel. I want to be able to put it in a place that others can take what they need. How can I accomplish this? Apparently only the person that places the structure can put items in it and pick them up (I hope they fix this).

Should I create a vendor and use that as a communal safety deposit box (if that is even possible)?

Yes, currently the only way to do what you want is by using a vendor. But be warned, if your PA Hall is public, ANYONE can come in and buy things from your vendor.

Alternately, all your friends could get a vendor and place them in the PA Hall (they need Admin permission to Create Vendor in the house controls, then they have to trade the vendor to the person who has drop permission). Then you can split and leave resources in each person's vendor under the Offers To Vendor screen. I currently do this to distribute resources to all the Architects in my PA (though all their vendors are in their houses).

Thanks!

That's exactly what I needed to know.

Is that the only way to share items in Houses as well is to use a vendor?

What about "Dropping" things in the house to use for decoration? Can't I drop say 4k of Steel for display? Then add someone to my admin list and they can pick it up later on?

Nobody but the person that placed the house can drop and pick up items (not even if you are are added as an admin). This is a bug that was in beta and still exists in retail (unfortunately).

So what you are saying is that it *should* work that way (dropping/picking up) with people on the admin list but it is bugged? Are people sure that is a *bug* or how they intended it to work?

So the only available non-bug way to share is by using vendors which cost upkeep and also you need Business III to place a vendor dont' you? Yikes...

Thanks.

Well, I only assume that it is a bug. If I am an admin, thenI should basically have the same rights as the person that placed the house. If I wanted somebody to come in and not put stuff down or pick things up, I'd add them to the Entry list and not the Admin list.

Doing it to the vendors in their houses is the only way to do it currently. If you create a vendor and give it to the PA Hall owner, they are not able to drop it, nor are they able to destroy or trade it back.

Note that this test was conducted with a vendor I created in my own house, then brought to the PA Hall. Didn't test it with a vendor created in the Hall because I didn't want to lose access to my second and final vendor.

Ok, I'm an admin on my PA Hall (I'm not the one that placed it though). So, I saw that there is a Create Vendor option on the PA Hall's management terminal. So, I do that, and then what do I do? By the way, our PA Hall is currently private with the guild added on the entry list.

It's no bug. But exactly on purpose and I'm glad of it. In beta people could enter buildings and split your resources. Picking them up would be worse. As for the "its for my guild" concept, you may not have thought this through entirely. What happens the day some disgruntled PA member decides he's angry with the guild and is going to leave it? It's already happening. Then thay can just split or pick up all in the room. Everything. Not just resources. You really want that to happen? Besides, if all can pick up, you loose control of who took what. The Sales Droid idea sounds the best to me. Sell units of resources to your guild mates for one credit in a locked and admin access only structure and that way you have an e-mail confirming record of who took what.

Leave it as it is. It ain't no bug.

You can create a vendor in a PA Hall or house that you have Admin permission on. However, you have to trade the vendor in your inventory to whoever has drop permission in the structure. They drop it, the you can access the Vendor controls as normal (except for picking it up). I verified this works in Beta, but of course it may be broken in the live version.

The split thing in beta was a expoit/bug. I'm not talking about the entire guild having assess to drop/pickup stuff, just the admins. All admins should be able to place items in the guild (and retrieve them). We only have a few people that we would want doing that and those people were added as admins. All others only have entry permissions and therefore would not be able to do that.

Being the guild architect, I want to be able to decorate it. Not just give all of the furniture to the guild leader and have him place everything himself.

Thank you, ComicsGuy. I will do that tonight (if my guild leader shows up).
