Well I have been a novice architect for a whopping 2 days now!!! 0000 in the tree and I can already tell that I will love it. I started out with around 700K in credits and bought 4 medium mineral, 2 heavy mineral, and 1 fusion generator (I have to start slow due to limited funds). I want to get my own resources for the grind to master.
I am new to crafting, but have been hitting the boards and trying to get up to speed. What I am not seeing that could be useful is a posting of what few resources I should be looking for in quality, not just quality. (I want to build my own harvesters as well as set up a business).
I am looking to the veterans out there (you know this is a good prof. when some have been in it for a year) for some tips on what I should start building up resources in Quality and quanity or resources I just quanity of.

That's becuase Architect is a little different that way.
Yes, you'll need HQ resources, but you'll need them in such large quantities, there's no point in hoarding until you're at master.
Just get ore, and then some more ore, little aluminum, little steel, little copper, and more ore.

You'll need ore too. Lots and lots of ore.
And ore. Stock up on ore. Then buy some. Lots.

Get a large amount of Carbonite Ore
Get a large amount of Siliclastic Ore
Ger a large amount of Extrusive Ore
Get a large amount of Intrusive Ore
Then get some more of each. Personally, I keep one millionore on hand -- mostly carb ore -- usually split between craptastic quality and very very high toughness.
You need aboutone unit of steel for every four units of Ore that you have on hand. Eventually you will need steel with high UT.
Get some high conductivity copper, as well as highOQ copper.
Get some aluminum
Get some chemical with a UT
Get some gas with a high OQ
Getmore Carbonite Ore
Getmore Siliclastic Ore
Germore Extrusive Ore
Getmore Intrusive Ore
And what ever you do....remember to stockpile ore.

You guys left out ore...he's gonna need some of that.
I too am new to this profession but have been friends with a few architects for a while and have made notes on what to and not to do. My question is, does the TYPE of ore matter? I know UT can be important, but I'm not talking stats I'm talking type. Like carbonate or scalastic. Does that really matter...or does ore pretty much cover it?

Is there a reason for that though? Like are certain stats always better in certain types?

Got'cha Architect equals ore miner...that's cool. Is there a reason to prefer one type of ore over another...such as carbonate vs. intrusive??? Thanks for the quick replies!!!

Not so much. People tend to grab carbonate if there's not much of a difference, because having carbonate around is handy to do factory runs of generators if you find yourself short. Generators are a pain to make by hand, and they only take carbonate. So, all things being equal, (and they rarely ever are) people will mine carbonate since it can be used in Generators OR wall parts, and is therefore a little more useful.
Typically, I just mine whatever ore I can get the most of, and then when I need generators, I just sink 9 harvesters on that for a week, and run off several hundred generators at a time. Most architects run HUGE numbers of generators, I'm pretty sure.

I try to only make Generators once per month. If I can get 200-300 crafted I am good for most of the month. they are a pain to craft, requiring a little bit of alum, copper, steel, ore, chem, and gas. I think you can substitute here and there in the schematic, but basically they suck. Only crafting stations are more of a pain for me to make. I am almost to the point of refusing to make stations.

While you're at it, stock up on Lube Oil and Duralloy Steel too. Duralloy has 4-5 stats that are minimum 900+ stats (our big 3 are among them, HR, SR, UT), and Lube Oil doesn't ever have any of our big 3, which makes it perfect for crafting with when experimentation matters.
But then, I don't know much....
