I don't know if anybody else has pointed this out, but you're gonna need tons of ore.

If I wanted to know the "secrets of the trade" of a profession that had a forum dedicated to it, I'd start by reading the FAQ stickied at the top of the forum. That will give you a better framework on "the basics" and let you explore specific questions in more depth by posting here.

resources...hmmm....i would have to say alot of ore....hope im not copying someone else
also i made master in a week by just making statues in practice mode. Amazing amount of xp given for them. I figured out to be about 5500xp each. only problem is that they eat alot of ore and gemstone. so stock up.

You'll probably need a lot of ore as well.
However, if you are intending to get Architect for the purposes of keeping it, don't grind up with the statue's.
Statue's are the easiest way to grind (single combine, two resources, two slots, 3000 units for 5000 xp) but if you are actually intending to be an architect you are going to need a lot of walls. Best way to get them is to start now.
Quality on walls doesn't matter, so you can make them with the crapiest material you have. A single Structural Module takes 200 Ore (100 + 100) and 50 metal for 500xp. A single Wall takes 300 metal (200 + 100) plus 200 ore plus 10 Structural Modules for a total of 1000 xp.
In total a Wall takes 2200 ore and 800 metal for a total of 6000 xp.
It will be slower than doing the Statue grind, but will be a whole lot better in the long run. Houses, Installation and City Structures take up a hell of a lot of Walls and Structural Modules. A small house takes between 10 to 12 Structural Modules, Medium Houses use 5 or 6 Walls, Large Houses take anywhere up to 12 Walls, and Guild Halls take 15 if I remember correctly.
You are going to need a lot of walls!

Can we say ore, just once more?
I joke but it is true. Especially if grinding those stupid statues all the way to Master. 2k ore each one. But man is it worth the exp! Got from Novice Architect to Furniture III in 20 minutes and I was going slowly.

I don't know if I've been lucky or what but I have 8 harvesters out now and 6 of them are on high grade resources (for the 3 qualities I keep seeing mentioned all over 900). I don't want to grind with this stuff because I want to start to stock pile it for harvesters. If anyone on the tempest server needs some walls and modules and are willing to provide the resources please email me in game. I will happily be a factory for you and finish as fast as I possibly can. I play about 8 hours a day except for weekends (when it goes down to zero) so pretty fast. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

You can never.. I repeat NEVER, have too much ore!! I know people keep saying this, but it's so very very true it seems to be the best advice needed lol. Also, since we arch's need so much is it a wonder we have ore on the brain?

Not so much secrets, but here's a few tips I hope you'll find useful.
1. Do a run of 500 Generator Turbines min and always try to keep a healthy supply on hand. You'll be amazed on how many of these you'll go through
2. That goes the same for walls. Don't let your factories sit idle. When there's a lull, throw in a schematic for Structure Modules to make walls. You will always need walls (thats where all the ore goes for). Lots of walls.
3. For ore, I always try to buy Carbonite. For metal, I always try to buy Aluminum (all grind). You'll need some grind Steel as well but I find that between furniture and other things, I need Aluminum far more often than steel.
4. Always look for steel spawns on swgcraft.com with 950+ UT/HR/SR and when you see it, throw ALL your harvesters on it (with lots available of course). If you have to re-deed some harvesters to do it, then do it. You can get ore cheap but not alwayshigh quality steel.
5. Don't shoot your brains out by doing a price war on yourself. I say "on yourself" because really, that's who's you're hurting. When you drop your drawers, more often than not, you're not gaining new customers - you're just giving a cheaper price to a customer that would have bought from you anyways.
6. Be aware of - but don't get caught up or overly concerned with - what your competition is doing. If you see them selling at a ridiculously low price, let them. Create your own plan and stick with it. See point #5 regarding why.
7. Be patient. Sales are streaky. One day you'll sell nothing, next day someone will drop $1M worth of credits on your vendor (slight exaggeration, but you know what I mean).
8. Always have stock, keep your vendors filled. People will pay more and will be repeat customers if they know they don't have to hunt around.
9. Always have stock, keep your vendors filled
10. Always have stock, keep your vendors filled
11.Refer to points 8, 9 and 10.
12. Price your Heavy Gas Harvester considerably higher than your other harvesters. Even though in aggregate it's roughly the same number of resources, heavy gas harvesters use a disproportional amount of high quality metals (A LOT of high quality metals).
Those are ones that pop into my head right now.
