Thread: Is there some magic trick to placing furniture?
Holy cripes, it took me a half an hour just to get a chair straight.
There has to be an easier way than drop/rotate. The 'move' command moves it in random directions AND with random distance. Yuk! And what if I need my square couch to be diagonal in a rounded corner...?
Any tips?
~J
Use the commands
/move forward <distance>
/move back <distance>
/rotate left <degrees>
/rotate right <degrees>
Moving forward and backward is relative to the direction your character is facing.
I bought a couch and once I dropped it, I can't target it to get a radial menu. I tried typing the commands but it just says.."What do you want to rotate?". I even tried typing in /target couch...nothing is working. Its half in the wall. Any suggestions?

I am having the same problem with the couch I just bought. I do not need a couch in the wall. Could someone please help?
Just to add a little to Kinakuta's post.
Distance is a number between 1 and 10 (10 is what you get when you use the radial menu).
Degrees is a number between 1 and 180. (90 is the value of the radial menu).
Actually the rotate and move functions have a limit of 50 to them. Ask me why ? I have no bloody idea ![]()
They are without doubt though the best way to move furniture. Radial menus suck for moving stuff around.
Just want to clarify these commands so people do go around giving misinformation.
/move [forward/back] <distance 1-50>
/rotate [left/right] <degrees 1-360>
If you really want to know for sure, try the following and see what the system returns for a message:
/move
/moveback x (where x is a non numeric character)
/rotate left x (where x is a non numeric character)
As far as the yellow couch is concerned you can move it around the same way you picked it up - as long as the name wasn't changed in the making. so /rotate couch left <degrees> or move couch back <1-50> this is how I was able to get the yellow couch placed.
However, I made one and changed the name to yellow couch and now nothing works on it - it is stuck again - can anyone help me with that?
I have a few items that are targetable but able to be picked up. That comman /pickup <name> Does not work, it says "You cannot see this item." I have tried everything my imagination could think og, and /bugegd it. But I seriously doubt I'll ever hear from the devs and their non-existent customer service. ![]()

For some vague reason I am unable to rotate anything counterclockwise (left).
I use:
/rot right 90 (or 1 through 180) and that works fine
replacing right with left has no effect.
Even doing the full
/rotateFurniture left 90
command does nothing
(well it gives me an error, stating I should type it exactly as I just did, eh.. ok?)
It's not a problem for me anymore, since I made a bunch of macros and am able to furnish any house with relative ease, but it is still odd to hear other people being able to use the command that is unusable by me.
Oh, and ofcourse the lack of z-axis commands kinda sucks.. /raise & /lower anyone?
