Thread: IM HIGHLY FRUSTRATED WITH THIS PROFESSION:ARCHITECT WHATS THE POINT?
I've been playing this game almost since launch. and now that im an architect im very displeased with what i have come to learn as a "rip-off" did sony think this job proffession out clearly? i dont think so..did they consider any kind of good reward for all those hours you sat as a lowly artisan crafting, experimenting crafting, and running around collecting resources to build a piece of crap. I hate the fact that the building slots are limited..9 slots and your guild hall takes up 9 slots..what the hec is the point to go on to become a politician? the planets are already overloaded with cities you want many politicians running around with no city to build but a ton of deeds we can build..WHAT A WASTE OF TIME.. i thought sony would give us long dedicated players who takes the hard road less traveled would get some sort of a reward now with this "lets make em run through hoops" type of game play im asking you the TECHS a straight up question.. what is the point of this job profession when you have limited number of cities, limited skills points, and reallyto be quite honest limited gameplay..i paid for the collectors edition for some funny looking shades ..whoppe.. i think this is becoming a huge rip-off and a waste of time..like becoming a jedi
You have to be patient if you want to see any returns from this profession. It took me about 2 months but now I am making 1-2 million credits per week, and will never have to run faction missions for money again. Now I grant you that not everyone will be satisfied with playing this type of character, but did you think being an arch was going to be like the adventures of Lara Croft???
I can understand the frustrations with having to jump through hoops, but don't take it out on the Arch profession.
Raven,
There are a few things in your postI don't understand:
. I hate the fact that the building slots are limited..9 slots and your guild hall takes up 9 slots..what the hec is the point to go on to become a politician?
PA Halls have nothing to do with becoming a politician. Also, City Halls do not count against your lots.
I know most architects would like to have more lots. I can see a few valid arguments for it, but I believe there are more arguments against that are more valid.
The argument for that I like, is that architects should be able to place show homes as examples of what we can build. If we placed 1 of each house we would have no lots left at all for a factory. We need factories to make high end things.
The arguments against I support as well. Architects don't have to be miners. I collect the majority of my raw materials but I choose to do so. But I buy what I need to if I am short, or to get some good quality UT stuff. The devs want interdependent game play. They want archs to build, and someone else to mine and so on.
Your complaints are all over the board, from lots to skill points..... I think that Architect is broken. It has gotten boring just clicking and clicking again. We need a color pallete to customize furniture. It would be nice if we could make customized deeds, with variations on rooms and such. It would be nice if there was an up/down command for placing items in a house. We need lamps to actually light.....
However, I don't think lots is that key of an issue. And the skill points everyone runs into that problem.
What the original poster needs to understand is that crafter professions aren't about providing yourself with all the stuff you can craft. It's about selling things to other people. This is not a single player game!
The fact that you can't be a successful crafter and also own a PA Hall is a bit unfair...
One thing I can agree on in the original post is that maybe 2-3 more lots would be a good thing. Architects need more materials than any other profession, that means we need more harvesters. Also ore is rarely higher than 60% concentration which also means we need more harvesters. And yet our much needed factory takes up 2 lots instead of 1 like the other factories do.
As an architect I need friends to support me, lending me lots for my harvesters, selling me resources cheap and so on. It's tough but many architects have succeded in making heaps of money and so have I lately. I can't really complain, being architect is fun but it takes ALOT of time if you want to be successful. I wouldn't recommend it to a casual gamer.
I like Architect the most out of the crafting professions exactly because the items are so ridiculously huge, resource-wise. It means less time staring at the Crafting Tool screens, and more time dealing with logistics and sales, which apeals to me.
If you prefer the reverse, one of the other Elite Crafting professions may suit you better; Weaponsmith for example. Typically they have items that require significantly fewer quanitites of resource. For them, it means more time actually crafting to get xp, but I'd imagine one day's harvester run will go much further than the same resource pile for us in terms of actual items to sell, and decay/inherent utility means many more people interested in buying, if it's good enough. On the otherhand, since weapons are extremely stat-critical, experimentation becomes a lot more critical for them than us, if they want to sell anything.
They are more Crafters than Resource Managers I suppose...for us the opposite is true. More lots wouldn't necessarily help Architects that much, since we can quite happily bulk-grind anything up to 3000 units per item, even on the non-component stuff.
It's a different style of play, despite both of us being crafters. Tailor is quite similar.
Lot-borrowing can help with this if you have a few people who don't craft and that you can trust. Get them to place your houses/PA Hall/factory, and set you as an admin on them. It's almost as good as owning the structure yourself, but leaves you free to place more harvesters than before.
Its a pretty simple point to see, 2 lots for my house, 2 lots for my factory, 6 lots for harvesters. How the hell am I supposed to keep enough AL, Copper, Steel, Gas, Ore, Carb. Ore....and that is just for the generator turbines.
I would never be able to do this if I didn't have 2 accounts!!!
hmm....if you want to be stable you have to pay for 2 accounts, does Sony want it this way???
I can literaly put 10 heavies down on a 50% concentration of LG ore and use it all in one day making walls, and by that I meannot just used but have the items made with that oresold, easily. I can't fill all the of the requests I get. Andif wanted to keep at least one or two of most buildings, homes, harvesters or factories the 16 lots I have for harvesters from 2 characters still wouldn't be enough. Stuff sells too fast
and people want to cry to us that we charge too much.
C'mon Sony, this is either just plain stupidity, or you are trying to gauge us with needing more than one char.
Ikoroo I agree with you.
I am a Master Architect/Master Artisian. I have been for many months. I have seen the steady increase of prices for both Steel and Low-grade ore (LGO). First it was 2... then 3... then 4. And woe be it for something like omniweagisof steel.. 10per unit. We can not afford to pay that kind of price for minerals and still price our items competitively. Unlike folks like weaponsmiths, we use massive amounts of all materials and a 1 credit increase means massive sales price increase.
I am so tired of folks saying, but you are way above so-and-so's price. You know what, you are right. I will not sell items for 3/unit as I once did way back when. If I can not make 5per, I will not sell it. That means if I have to pay 80k for the steel (8k steel * 10/unit) I have to sell the remaining 20k units at 3/unit) Hmmm but if I were to buy this ore, I'd have to eat the difference.
Folks say architects are rich... ROFL. If you look at our return on investment, I think it is pathetic. Yes we do charge 160k for a 13ber, but that is not all profit. Look at the amount of ore it takes to make that and unless you are making the harvestors in a factory, what can you charge for a 10 or an 11 if you have a crit fail on experimentation? What about if you crit fail on any component or god-forbid the final assembly?
Rich...yeah right... If I were a weaponsmith and moved that amount of ore crafting weapons, I'd have 10x the amount I do now.
Personally, I am ready to throw in the towel on making anything other than for my self and then drop architect and just be a mineral broker...
Hey, I think "Grumpy" is wearing off on me.. ![]()
