Just spotted this in the Merchant forum(Yes im a 0/4/0/4 Merchant as well as MArch).

FYI DocSavag is their forum chap.

"As many of you know containers on vendors on TC currently count as 1 item towards the sales item limit. This was obviously not intended and I have confirmed with JustG that it won't remain that way. It might not get changed before publish 10 gets released however VERY soon the total items in the container will count against your item limit cap.

This really was the only way to do it, it makes no sense to set item limits and then give people a way to store 50x that number in containers.

Edit: Please don't use packs to store things on your vendor above the limit of the items you can have in the mean time. You will only get frustrated when theyh fix it and having informed you in advance the sympathy level will be rather low. You can still use backpacks of course just realize that when this gets changed if you are over the limit you will have to reorganize things to get back under the limit.

Im posting it here so you all have advance notice of the pack nerf.

Please dont shoot the messenger

Try and keep your temper and give our forum coro some feedback on this nerf as im guessing he did not know about it.

So whats being nerfed exactly?

Are they not letting us put packs on vendors? Or just counting the stuff in the facts towards the vendor item limit?

Items in backpacks will in future count towards the total number of items on a vendor. So 1 backpack with 10 items will no longer be a count of 1, but rather 11. It will be interesting to see how this works, if you have a backpack with say 20 items in it, will it only then allow another 79 items on page 1? what if you have 2 full backpacks totalling 51 items each, will they be on seperate pages ? will a full backpack list at the bottom of the window as items 1-51? I am guessing that it is only going to count towards the 'total' number of items allowed depending upon your level in Merchant, but we will see.

Whining Merchants?

Merchants did not ask for this. I'll say again, ... DID ... NOT ... ask for this. In fact, I posted my opinion already against this change. However, to accuse the Merchant community of having a role in this implementation is ignorant.

if that is the case, when using the vendor you should be able to see the contents of the packs then.

would this be the same for crates?

Doesn't apply to crates. What they are trying to do is stop people from using vendors as storage. For example, putting 2M ore (20 stacks) into a backpack and then placing it on your vendor for 99999999 credits. Currently, this would count as 1 item. After the change, it will count as 21 items. This applies to the cap on the number of items your vendors can hold.

The drawback though is that backpacks are also used by many professions for bundling products; like armour suits for AS's and Buffpack setsfor Doctors. Unless you're a Master Merchant with a large cap, your ability to bundle and stay below the cap just became more difficult.

Besides, items inside a crate don't really exist.

A crate is actually sort of an "instant craft" tool with a set number of charges.

When you "get" an item from a crate, what it really does is craft a new one and lose a charge.

Since the item is actually created when you remove it, it isn't taking up any database space until you pull it from the crate.

At least that's how the devs explained it a few months back.

1 Star from me, why add a limit if you can get around it by exploiting backpacks to get unlimited(almost) storage?

I'll toss in my 2 cents here. As you can see from my sig, I make lots of various things. Generally, this won't affect to many folks. Armorsmiths, however, counting the incoming armor nerf & this, just got shelacked.

Let me point something out, however. This is a reduction in available inventory. Period. Yes, many folks used Vendors for storage, but let's be honest, the available items limitations in this game as they stand now are insane. I can carry more on me, and in my backpack, than I can store in a Medium sized house?? Or 2 factories?? My Store is maxed out in items it can have, and only 2 rooms are decorated. I had to open another house to craft from, until each proffesion I support has it's own house. That does not include the resources in the bank, or on the toons.

I don't use Vendors for storage. I did, but found it to cumbersome. But I am getting damned tired of having my in game abilities reduced, degenerated, and eliminated without ANY sort of compensation i.e fixing things. Or OMU's, Turbine generators....christ, you name it, all in various and small crates...if it's crated at all. OMU's not being crated were a suprise to SOE reps at Fan Fest, in spite of complaining since day1. If they are gonna nref, fine. but for cryin out loud, make this game FUN, not work! That is the definition of a game after all. And let's FIX things now and again, rather than constantly, continually beating up what folks are doing to have fun.

That was pretty much my original response. I don't use vendors for storage but I do have VERY full vendors of various products - or at least I did, I let it slide with the upcoming patch. I bundle a lot products - especially buffs. I used to sell them seperately but I found that bundling allows me tosell buffpacks faster, it's easier for the customer to buy,and it's less waste for me (being left with incomplete sets)

If SOE also introduced a way to crate products for bundling purposes (counting as 1item like crates)while at the same time implementing this nerf, I would support it. It's the fact that it just put another un-needed strain on enjoying the game that is beginning to grate on me.

Ummm...it would seem to me that if the issue is that there isn't enough storage that the resolution should be to provide a means to provide more storage space, not change the functionality of something to "fix" an issue that isn't affecting any in game issue.

I.e. providing a "storage valut" structure that allows 500 items to be stored would be a solution. Not screwing over the architects who already have space issues and have to place 1000 small houses down for a cheap storage method.

I think now that the vendor storage issue is going to largely take care of itself, they need to uncap storage in houses and make it a true 75 items/lot for all buildings.
