Thread: Architect Rare Furniture Set Registration
I've thought about making Drall skin couches with certificates of authenticity. The certificate would include a screenshot image of a Drall corpse with the deceased Drall's name visible.
The really sick part is that I'm serious.![]()
So you want to voluntarily have limited use schematics?
Sounds easy, make some stuff then quit architect.
As for me, I only rename my master level furniture, wierd statue and strange statue and put my name on my paintings. If a customer asks for custom named items, I do that too (typically for a small fee).
Well, in the physical world when there is excess money in circulation and/or excess money in the hands of a few, offering "limited edition" items for a premium price can work. Typically the item has to have some level of "value" in the first place aside from the "limited edition" aspect of it. That is, you have to like the artist and the image to buy a limited edition lithograph or ceramic figure or whatever. Then you have to believe that the limited production run will *either* give it more monetary value in the long run (that is, you are gambling on either the artist or that particular piece will be sought by collectors in the future) OR you like the "cachet" of being able to say to your friends "yes, I have one of the only 10 copies of this particular orange couch by Zalle". ![]()
Currently the only architect products that have ANY "functional distinction" are harvesters and crafting stations, and even for those the focus isn't on either the maker or the "rarity" per se, but rather on the stats. The *only* distinction between a master couch by Zalle and a master couch by Pawlin is whatever "label" we chose to put on the piece. Since there is no "authority" that keeps me from making an "Alabaster White Couch - #2 of 10 by Zalle" and cranking out hundreds of them, and since the *only* thing different about it is the label itself, I honestly can't imagine anyone paying a premium for these.
Maybe I'm wrong and will look back in the years ahead wishing I'd bought one of the only 50 "Tangerine Couch by Pawlin" in existance and thereby funded my retirement - but I don't think so. ![]()
Give that fish the "understatement of the year" award right now!

Oh, and actually any idea of a register of names really wouldn't work cause our server wide honor system is slightly broken.
My buddy had a shop on Lok he called 'The Battle Zone'. I made a lmited edition set of furntiure for him and only him.
I have also made limited edition weapons from a roleplaying perspective. I am using my master WS wookiee alt to create a line of bowcasters honoring great wookiee's. The first one, called 'Rorworr's Honor Caster' is honoring the Wookiee scout who grew up on Naboo. I figured a scout would want the highest range possible so I made them with high range scopes. The next line will honor someone else and will emphasize perhaps wound% or HAM.
The point is that by roleplaying I have created a special item that others can buy to use or simply to collect the whole series and hang on their wall.

It will work if more people participate...trust me...I'm an economist
If you got a majority of people to adhere to this system then it would work for most of them. If there were any laws or regulations governing our server economies besides game mechanics then it might work just fine like realworld copyright laws do.
However the truth is that the majority of the players dont' ever read these boards. So you won't get too many people even aware of it to participate.
And what would happen if someone got greedy and stole your name? I don't think you'd have any recourse against someone who broke the rules that you made up.
Like I said our honor system is a little broken. So as soon as the system starts to work and the value of the limited items increases thats exactly when someone will see the opportunity and make a factory run using your valuable name and dump them on the bazaar. Or just as likely someone who never saw this registration list would see an item with one of your names and say "hey cool name" and "borrow" your idea.
