Thread: Should I Do It?
I am currently commando 2440 and CH 3211. I was thinking of going commando 0440 and CH 3414. This would allow me to call 2 x CL25 pets or a graul mauler (bile drenched quenker, etc) and allow me to do what I enjoy about CH and that is training and growing new pets. I worked my butt off to get my commando skills where they are so I really don't want to drop them. The funny thing is, I enjoy CH.
Please give some suggestions as to whether this would be a viable template for both killing and training new pets. Positives and negative comments welcomed.
Wouldn't 4/4/1/3 be a better choice than 3/4/1/4? Unless you plan on selling pets and need the transfer command that's what I would do. Of course you would also lose 2 stored pets that way.
Also, to call 2CL 25 (non aggro) creaturesI think all you need is 1/4/x/x. Not positive though.

You not only get 2 extra pets at 4 management, but you get the transfer command and 5 more creature levels out. And to call out 2 cl25 pets, you would need either 1/4/4/x or 1/4/x/4 as 4 in training only gives you 45 creature levels.
The REAL question is why dont you go 4/4/0/4? As a commando/ch, I am assuming that earning credits isnt a real problem for you. You can always buy pets with the "trick" command, or you can transfer the pet to someone who can teach it to your pet. By gaining 4 taming, that gives you the ability to tame/call the Toxic Merek Battlelord, one of the best pets in this game, and the Gnarled Rancor. Im not sure if you can do Rancors (besides Gnarled Rancor) and Gurrecks tho.
Now, now, lets not get testy.... Anyone is allowed to be a commando if they choose to, and in PvE we are not as overpowered as people may think due to our lack of defenses. As a commando you either have a pet, TKA, or feign death if you don't want to die in PvE. Without the fact that we have unintentional (according to devs) bugs in our flamethrower line, we would not be what we are now. Just wait until resists are changed to effect initial hitand and DoT effects, and the flamethrower is reclassified from a melee weapon to a ranged weapon. Then you will see one-trick commandos start to drop the profession since they won't be able to run up and 1-shot another PC or DoT kill your 100% heat resist pet.
Plus... those of you who are sick of dying to commandos, try fighting with buffs, armor, and near water for a change. Sick of losing your pet to a commando? Don't fight on Tantooine! Tired of getting sick wounds from commando fire DoT? Stay out of our 16m range for specials!
The intended status of the commando is soon at hand... don't let newb commando's lie to you because you will soon be taunting their corpse like they did your lowland saltwater mynock. However, be forewarned that a commando that wants to kill you, will, all it takes is the use of our limited use rocket launcher. So start looking for those 100% blast resist pets.

Honestly I had not thought of getting to xxx4 and just having someone teach trick to my pets for me. Plus, you actually save 3 skillpoints.... possibly to use in medic. 8) I will say that I really like taming my own pets... I think it is the best part of being a CH.
