Thread: Quote that may help get your heads out of your butt Architects...
Bflunker on Radiant Boards - "Missions on harder planets like Lok, Yavin 4 or Darthomir (sp?).. pay like 5k or more per mission. I have made over 100k in like 2 to 3 hours "
Keep lowballing....![]()
too bad they can't read it if their heads are up their butts...
yeah combat ppl can make just as much/more than architects... i have master unarmed with a nice set of 130 damage vibro knucklers, made by Dominous, and right now i can hit for 400 using berserk and just realized that i needed to raise my strength and lower other skills since i changed from marksman to brawler and i'm doubling my strength so i might be able to hit for 800+ when the stat migration is done, which will take a long time, and i'm close to having enough xp for TKA
What is your point? I routinely sell structures for 2.5 to 3.5 cr per resource and am making money hand over fist and have back order for days on end, and over 1 million credits in the bank.
It costs me about .67 credits per resource and I'm selling 5 X that easy. I got people bringing me resources to make their structures and paying 2 credits per resource they provided.
Just because you see peeps buying resources at 5 credits up to 10 credits per doesn't set the value of structures.
It's a free lance market. I've developed my contacts and faithfull customers by charging very reasonable prices, supplying them ore when they are out or in need, leasing harvesters until they can pay, and selling fuel at .75 credits per.
If your selling for less than 3 credits per unit, your stupid. You might as well sell the resources, they'll go for at *least* 3 credits per unit.... with no chance for failure.
I don't understand why the newb architects dont get it.
I'm not a newb, and I'm not stupid either, you ignorant loudmouthed idiot.
I sell for what I want to sell for, and if I could switch to Eclipse right now and take away all your business for being a rude, inconsiderate overcharging oaf, I would.
I'm sick of people telling me what I should do, go play for yourself and quit worrying about whateveryone else is doing.
I'm a Master Artisan, a Master Architect, and about halfway to Master Merchant. I know exactly what I am doing, and get this... I'm having fun too, instead of sitting around whining about everyone else like you. Get a life.
*laughs* at no bargain.
I'm a master architect and have been for 2 weeks. Aside from 40k credit donations from two friends I did it all with my own credits, selling small houses for 10k, medium harvesters for 13k and factories for 25k to 30k. I donated our PA hall, furnished it, and constantly give small harvesters away to fellow PA members. I'm on my 3rd schematic of 100qty turbine generators to start building my 20th HMMI that I sell for 80k to 110k depending upon how I feel and how many you buy. I've never paid more then 3cr per resource on the open market, I have the best cloths and weapons given to me for free by gratefull customers because I charge resonable prices. And I get the inside track on all the new resource locations from the many many surveyers and ore dealers that I provided and funded with cheap harvesters and ready fuel.
Oh yeah, well my daddy can beat up your daddy...
I mean come on now people grow up.
Why is it we get the morons come here and tell us we are overcharging loafs?
That wasa good one. Why dont you trolls go to the weaponsmithing boards and tell them that.
After having to pay 20k for a decent weapon that cost so much less in resources than a small house does I cant believe there are morons like you still here bleating the same old sugarcoated tunes.
You have every right to charge what you want. The bazaar price avg is 3 cpu. If all the low ballers were selling at 10 cpu and us high ballers were selling at 13-14 cpu I would not be telling people that they should charge more.
Thats what it should be, but instead we have people selling for less than what the bare resources are worth. Hell if the avg price for bazaar was 1cpu and we were all selling at the same prices, I would bring my prices down to wear all the low ballers all.
The point is that I take X and turn it into Y. My price reflects the avg worth of X, and a little more to pay for my skill to transfer from X to Y. Most of these architects selling less are either charging the path from X to Y a negative amount, which does not make any business sense.
I dont wish to flame or be rude to anyone, I just mearly wish to point out the obvious. And selling cheaply to miners that will help you out in return is a good idea, but not everyone who buys a house for cheap is going to tell u hints and help you out.
P.S. the reason your orders are backed up is because you sell cheap. I charge a lot more than some, but none the less my orders are still backed up.

They don't get it because they measure their success differently.
To some folks success is having the most people spamming them for orders at any one time. "Look ma! I keep running out of material I'm so popular!" They do not seem to care they would be experiencing the same thing if they raised their prices 25 percent. They also don't seem to care that many of their customers were referred to them by people who don't respect their business but are more than happy to take advantage of them. Its best not to worry about these people. They can never keep up with demand and eventually will be hold up in a clock tower somewhere sniping innocents and muttering about the voices in their heads.
To some folks success is is getting to master as fast as humanly possible. They wanna make as many things as they can in the shortest amount of time and don't want to be bothered getting a decent price. They are usually backed and funded by a large PA. Its best not to worry about these people. Most of them will drop architect eventually once they have a PA hall. The others will raise their prices when they reach master. These folks are smart just in a hurry.
To some folks, like myself, sucess is to have a little business going and keep a positive cash flow without getting buried too deep in orders OR conversely be reduced to hawking my wares on the street somewhere begging for a sale.
To still other folks, success is having more virtual money than God.
Point being you are never going to convince the people basking in their popularity that they are cheating themselves. They don't get it because, in a way, its not true...for them. They are getting out of the experience what they want, their feeling of success. In much the same way you are not going to convince a PA grinder to slow down and worry about his/her business end. They don't care (at least for the moment), they too are getting out of the experience what they want, their feeling of success. Quit worrying about them and you'll save yourself a ton of greif.
I price my structures based on a formula of (recipe resources +15%)*3.5cr for stuff that does not require a factory. This is the absolute MINIMUM I will sell any structure for. Then I look at the realities of my business any given day. Am I getting backed up? Am I running low on key resources? Is my base price way below the average price? Am I done skilling up and don't need the hassle? Whatever the case, I adjust my price up based on my business reality. If a customer wants to haggle a better price in a respectful fashion, I'll listen. But I know my minimums, I know why they work for me and I won't go below them.
I've never had trouble making my business work with this model no matter how many people undercut my prices. It will only get easier now that I am master.
I still hate those /tells "can you make me a large house for 75k" i say no i sell them for 150k and then i get the usual "Why so expensive , when i can buy one from X number of people at that price". Why bother me then go buy it from them....i could never understand this.
But from what i have seen the people that used to sell at that price and once they hit master raise their prices insanely high...i went to such a persons shop and saw furniture pieces selling for 10k and this was that red sofa we get in Furniture 2 or 3 not sure....and you look at his deed vendor and see a medium home for 60k....odd to say the least.
Yea I like Hatton's point. I really don't care what other sell them at because I'm doing fine selling at my prices which are more than double on certain things. The problem I have is people expect to get that price all the time. People are finally realizing that those aren't the normal prices, normal people charge. I have yet to fill all my orders and actually looking for new ones. I've have orders setup for the past 3 weeks I would guess.
Sell for what you want, but don't come in here telling the rest of us are just overcharging everyone. There is no way my time going and surveying/collecting resources is worth less than 3c/resource. I don't care what price you say the maintenace/power just cost. If you enjoy switching all the your harvestors and care to do that for free each week then good for you. You obviously have a different play style than me. But you are very much selling yourself short.
If you are selling stuff at 2.5/unit you aren't getting loyal customers you are just getting people that will pay dirt cheap prices. I want to know when 75k for a medium house that takes 22k resources became expensive.
