First off, I'll come in here and tell you whatever I want. It's a forum, not your private little "buddy" space.

Second, I was only calling no_bargain an overcharging oaf, not the rest of you. It was a reaction to his need to insult anyone who doesn't agree with his somehow sole knowledge of what the "right" price is. For the most part, people on this forum are considerate, intelligent, and well-meaning. And the thread was mostly fine, until he poked his head in and rather than offer something constructive, chose to insult anyone who doesn't charge what he does. I'll lash out at his ridiculous comments as often as I like.

Fact is, youcan be a successful Architect sellingsmalls at 5K, 10K, 15K or 20K+ and comparable pricing for other structures. You're all arguing a ridiculous point. It's a free market, anyone can charge whatever they want and are able to, and you'll NEVER get everyone to agree to all charge the same price. It's a nice theory, but it's ridiculous in practice.

So whatif one person has a massive PA helping them, and another doesn't, and so they charge different prices... so what? Hey, it's just like the real world, nobody ever promised you everything is equal. But to sit around complaining about how YOU can't afford to sell at the same price someone else doesn't help anybody, including yourself. Life's not fair, buy yourself a good helmet and buck up.

And yet, people come to these forums and post again and again and again their "brilliant schemes" to "fix" the economy.

The fact is, I sold smalls at 10K (when I sold structures, which I don't anymore, I have different aspirations for my Architect skills). While I sold them for 10K, there were other people on the same server selling them for 3K, and for 20K. Somehow, we're all still here, and all doing fine. We didn't have to band together and price-fix to make it, we didn't have to yell at eachother and call eachother names, we all just played. Gee, imagine that.

So, feel free to follow up this post with I'm sure what will be enlightening assumptions about me, about how I got to Master, and even more comments about how everyone should ignore me.

I'm *still* enjoying myself, and I'm *still* making other people in the game happy with the skills I worked VERY hard to learn. And I'll still be here posting help for all who ask, and flaming whoever has the nerve to sling insults my way just because I charge a different price than them.

No Aeko, I have PLENTY of money, it seems to be you who can't sell at a profit. Is it your math skills, or just that you refuse to be wrong?

I sell for PLENTY more than bare resource cost, I can't keep my vendors full, and I'm loving it. I've done everything right and I'm really enjoying myself. Must suck to be terrible at it and miserable like you.

Maybe it'll get better for you in the future hon. In the meantime, good luck. =)

Seems like most pricing problems are caused by those who are in a hurry to reach master.

Every day I check the bazaar vendors and clear up any resources selling for 2credits each, and replace them with resources (mine) selling for 4 to 6 credits depending upon quality. Within two days, my resources have always sold out, so why should I ever make a structure for someone and charge less than 4 credits per resource invested? Answer is that I shouldn't.

But some people do, primarily because they feel they got the xp from the resources and now just wish to unload. I also agree with some comments attributing these low sellers to a desire to be 'popular'. No doubt, some people love to get their egos stroked daily by people saying how nice the seller is (as he is giving away his stuff for 2 credits/resource).

It's sad to admit, but now I make more off the bazaar now than I do from selling stuctures or installations. I'm not going to try to compete with the 2credit people, I'm going to happily keep making about 5credits/resource salesoff bazaar, even if it takes me a bit longer to reach master.

What does the future hold?

Resources will soon be selling for 2.5 to 3 credits on all servers.

This is because little by little, people are buying and deploying the larger harvesters, making their operations more efficient, and driving up production. And at same time production keeps going up, demand will eventually fall, and we will have a depression.

Enjoy the high resource prices while you can.

Same song and dance across all of the boards I see. What gets me is this, you say that the "average" price for resources on the bazaar is 3 cpu and I ask what drives that price? Last time I checked it was what people would pay for an item. If a person wants to sell houses at 10K per unit all day long...let them. This is THEIR gaming experience. As I see it, that person is coming along as a personal threat to you. If a person asks you to build them something and you quote them and they bock at you because you quote 15K then turn them down. However, over time you're going to realize that you won't turn everyone down. What drives an economy is people buying goods. Vendors don't set prices...Consumers set prices. Learn that aspect and you'll figure out the rest.

Another thing to remember is that the retail game is only 1 month old now...things will change. If you have been around MMPORGs for any length of time you shall understand this without further explanation.

Amen Cylenthia!

Nice to hear another voice of reason. I've been defending my prices on this board for a month. The irony of all the "haters" is that *I* didn't set my prices, my customers did.

If they don't pay, you don't sell. Pretty simple as far as I am concerned.

Where do you get the funny little idea that I'm not making a profit Stop by eclipse sometime, I'll crush you with my bank account.

But really, the point here is (which I know now that you couldn't possibly understand) is that someone who is selling for less than 3 credits per unit, is simply doing a lot of work for credits they could be making for a lot less effort (i.e., just selling the resources)

I guess I don't see the fun in that, because it was so easy making a profit selling at 3-4 credits per unit, and having an endless stream of customers.

But please, continue being uptight, and insulting me. It's very amusing

Hrm...

So what you're saying is, if I'm selling at a profit, but it's less than YOUR profit, it can't be fun. Oh, I see your point, you really showed me!

Good job!

Oh, and by the way, the argument that you could sell them for more on the bazaar is ridiculous. An Architect uses her or his resources to build. If your only concern is money, then you win. Yes, I bet you will make more money selling at more per resource than me. Whoop de fing doo.

I CRAFT with my resources, I could care less if I have 250K in the bank, 500K, or 1 million. What am I going to spend it on anyway? I've got great armor, a great gun, tons of droids, and enough clothes to fill a small house. I've got a structure factory, I've got an equipment factory, and I've got harvs. So your point is what? If everyone follows YOUR pricing scheme, we'll have MORE money with nothing to do with it?

I understand you're all smug and thinking you're smart and right, but the reality is you're arguing over nothing. It's not REAL money, and there's not much you can DO with it once you have it. I've got plenty, and I charge fair and reasonable pricing based on the time I have to put in. If you're time is somehow worth MORE than mine, good for you.

In the meantime, I'll continue to charge a fair price, and you'll continue to call me names for doing so. I'm done with you, you're not actually saying anything, just coming back with insult after insult, without any true constructive information. So... I am HELPING the Architect profession, while you're standing around complaining about it. Good for you, I bet your parents are proud of you and all the "money" you've earned at this moment. Maybe they'll frame a screenshot above the mantle for you.

You get me completely wrong. I don't think I'm smug or right.

I simply see a flaw in selling structures below the average market cost of the materials that go into it. That's it. Nothing more than that.

Your reading way too much into my rather blunt statement earlier. Perhaps you took it a bit too seriously. Whatever. I'll continue going on about this as long as you want.

But as long as I see people easily lining up to buy stuff for 3 to 4 credits per unit.. I'll continue to feel the same way about selling under 3.

OK, I understand you're point, but it's apples and oranges.

A resource can have multiple values. It's value to a weaponsmith is going to be different than it's value to an Architect, based on experimentation (or the lack thereof, in our case).

So the going price of the resource on the Bazaar really has nothing to do with the price of a home. If an Architect is actually buying ANY significant percentage of their resources on the Bazaar, they're going about it wrong. Unless SOE brings back the Miner class, the whole point is moot.

Stacks of 500 ore are a joke. You and I both know that. 500 Ore is like the sugar on my cereal, it's the smallest percentage of what I'll eat that day. So... as a result, I could give a you-know-whatabout whatMr. Happy is selling his Ore for on the Bazaar. I'm an Architect, if anyone should be running good harvs on good spots, it's me.

All that being said, it really doesn't matter. The irony is, I sold smalls for 10K, and got YELLED at about it on this board. Yet, the same people who did the yelling sell their mediums for LESS than I do. It's like they pulled some random number out of their rears and decided that's their price per resource. I charge on a sliding scale, the more difficult the project, the more I charge. Failures cost money, as we all know. I give a LOT of thought to my pricing, and I have a massive Excel spreadsheet running with prices for anyone, friends, and PA members (all prices are different). Plus, if I'm in a good mood, I charge less, if I'm in a lousy one I charge more.

My point is, we're never going to "solve this". And I apologize for getting heated, Aeko. I just don't take kindly to being called "stupid" for not agreeing with you. I think we can agree to disagree, and agree that we're both obviously doing fine. So... why are we here complaining?

Yea, I see people sell those little blocks of 500 ore for 3000 credits on Eclipse also.. and I gotta wonder what they are thinking, since they just sit there and take up a ton of space on the bazaar listings because nobody is going to pay 6 credits per unit for some generic carbonate ore. Heh...

I apologize also for getting mouthy myself.

OK then we agree to /hug and part ways friends?

As I said, sorry. I just, for some reason, get riled up when people say it's not possible or too hard. I don't want people to be discouraged. I do agree, however, that it's important to make people realize how HARD the class can be before they get in too deep and regret it.
