Thread: What do you think of this idea?
This may have been brought up before, I dunno if it has so I'll pretend its my original idea.
First let me say this, Armor and weapons have decay, food and stims have limited uses. What does the architect have to guarantee that demand for their product will always be high and/or stable? Nothing that I knowof so here is my idea.
This pertains mostly to houses and harvesters. Right now as long as you pay your maintenance your house and harvesters will last indefinitely. What if this was not the case. What if that lets talk harvesters for instance could only be re-deeded a set number of times before they were destroyed? An example could be a medium harvester could be re-deeded 25 times before it is destroyed. This means most likely in about 25-30 resource shifts someone is going to need a new harvester thus creating demand for an architects product. This same rule could be applied to houses only perhaps a house could only be re-deeded 3 times before it is destroyed.
To add another twist, as weapons and armor can be repaired. This terminal re-deeding number could be reset, or "repaired" in essence by an architect. Thus saving the architect from having to replace his own harvesters, and at the same time creating another money making skill that the architect can use.
Thank you for reading,

Hi,
oh great, a brandnew idea......NOT.
If you would read the postings in this forum you would have recognized that decay on harvesters and re-deeding limitations are discussed over and over.
Read ya.
Indeed, wedid a long poll on this, and the general population agrees that we do not want structural decay of that type (2:1 vote).
Chances are that something will be developped to increase the long term viability of the profession. It's on my top 5, so we'll see what happens.

now, i don't have a Jedi. i don't want a Jedi. i don't even think Jedi should be in the game.
but i realize that they are, and they're here to stay.
i also realize that since the CU, and it's group favoring combat and xp system, that getting XP for your shiny new Jedi Padawan is pretty close to impossible. because grouping runs a high risk of gaining visibility, and there are many more BHs out there to hunt you now.
from what i understand Jedi visibility is automatically gained when a Jedi player uses his light saber, or any force powers, or wears his Jedi robes within a certain distance of any NPCs or other Players.
what i'm proposing is a change in the way visiblity is gained.
instead of visibility being automatic, what if the player who is within "viewing" distance of a Jedi was given a choice? whether to report the Jedi sighting or not.
it could work one of two ways.
- a player would see a Jedi weilding his saber, force powers, or wearing his robes, from within a certain distance. this player would then be prompted by a message asking them whether they'd like to report said Jedi. if they decide to report them, they would recieve a small amount of credits. maybe 10k. once they're reported, the Jedi goes up on the BH terminal as usual. once a BH successfully kills that Jedi, the player (or players) who reported him/her would recieve another reward of 50k credits.
or...
- a player would see a Jedi weilding his saber, force powers, or wearing his robes, from within a certain distance. this player could then go to a specific Imperial officer stationed in any Imperial controlled city. they would speak to this NPC officer and report the Jedi sighting. the payment would work the same way.
maybe the amount of the reward would depend on the level of the Jedi.
this would allow the Jedi to group with his most trusted friends. it makes more sense than having them inadvertantly and automatically getting them put up on the BH terminals.
plus it's more immersive since it was probably something that was going on in the Empire at this time, according to EU sources like the one i quoted above.
also the rewards would make people feel like they're doing their part if they're a member of the Empire, but not a BH themselves.
what do all you Jedi (and BH lurkers) think of this type of system?
you know, you jedi are the only ones who do that? bunch of stinkin tards.
how bout we get our jokes up to speed with THIS millenium, ok?

i mean really. i thought up an idea which i think would be a positive change for Jedi, and non-Jedi alike.
all i was asking for was some feedback.
i could've posted it elsewhere, but i figured this would be the most appropriate forum for it.

wat if its a group of jedi? would there be mltiple windows popping up? and couldn't that be a pain if you're say in the middle of combat?
not dis-liking the idea . . just pointing out a possible flaw
yeah good idea but this wouldnt be a problem really if you were hunting you would click it once and for 24hours if you saw the jedi using vis gaining moves u wouldnt get a pop-up

good solution for that problem.
the other solution would be to go the other route i mentioned. where the player has to seek out the NPC Imperial officer and report the Jedi to him. there would be a special NPC Imperial just for this purpose, and they would be found in the major Imperial cities.
the player would not have to type in the Jedi's name. the programming should automatically recognize which Jedi that player has seen. (maybe if they've seen multiple Jedi they can pick from a list?)
