Some examples:

Large Couch: 150 hides

Futon: 175 Metal

Ottoman:150 Hides

Small Bed: 150 Wooly Hides

Loveseat (Stylish): 250 Hides

Faamba skinned by level2harvesting scout: 100-120 hides

-----

So what you're telling me is that I can take the skin of the HUGEfaamba from my scout friend and I can't even cover an ottoman with that?? And two of them won't make a stylish loveseat?

And yet a bed, includingblankets, takes the same amount of woolies? This just seems a bit messed up to me. I would suggest lowering the hide requirements on all the furniture by about 15-20%, except the beds. Then maybe go through and even things up based on their real-world size.

Also, why does the futon take onlymetal ? The thing clearly has a pad on it (which is what makes it a futon). Shouldn't we need fiberplast panels or hides or something for that?

And the level 2 loveseat is just crazy! It's pad is smaller than the futon, yet requires twice as many hides as the small bed almost!

Thanks for taking a look at this. I'm only at level 2 furniture, so I haven't looked at the higher stuff. Anyone else have comments on this?

Oh, finally, why don't the free-standing lights light up? I have to put up with a smelly, smokey torch in my house instead of using these nice flourescent lamps?

Gah, I wish I could delete my other accidental posts on this. Hit the wrong key a couple times and boom a bunch of posts. OK, this is the real thread.

I totally agree, the amount of hides need to make all furniture is out of control, and all the good stuff takes hides, couches, chairs, fouton, loveseat........it's somthing like 150 wooly hide for a bed,

Thanks for the vote. I reposted your reply in this, the proper thread. Sorry about the weird aborted threads that got posted with almost nothing in them.

just wait till you need 250 dathomirian leather hides, or endorian wooly hides... or metal types that seem to be non-existant on over 8 planets... or multiples off synthetic cloth...

)

I do agree, some of the furniture seems a bit insane in how much of one type or another it requires... hopefully they trim it down a little... it's difficult to get a decent supply of some of this in usable stacks.

Yeah, I saw that for some of the level 4 stuff. I don't feel too bad about the requirements of a specific type of hide for really elite stuff, but level 2 things? Even requiring all wooly hide for the small bed seems overly restrictive. You don't need wooly hide for the underside of the mattress. It should require like 75 wooly and 75 any hide.

How about this to piss you off even more?? Using the general crafting kit to make a multi person camp it takes only about 8 hides and 4 bone? Or something close to it...I am at work and can't verify...but for those measly resources you get 2 tents, 2 chairs, 2 cots a fire and torches but it takes so much more to make 1 piece of furniture for a house? You guys are getting hosed!!

Heh...I believe it's only FOUR hide and two bones, so that's an even bigger kick in the teeth.

It is because we furniture makers are crafting the highest quality goods. It takes a large amount of hides to get enough high quality material to make our items. Those scouts throw together a quick camp that is unlikely to last the night. Our furniture is design to last a lifetime.

But, as stated above, I don't understand why futons use all metal.

Ilike the idea of needing rarer hides, it might get me travelling the galaxy looking for goods, rather than sitting on my backside sewing Wortt skins all day.

It is true of course that making a nice leather couch requires much higher quality hide than a camp as far as things like looks, texture, and grain matching go. But I still think the numbers are a bit high. Honestly I'm not whining here. If instead of decreasing certain things they decided to just up the requirements for beds and the other relaly big stuff, that would be fine too, because at least it would be in balance.

But when someone with 2nd or 3rd level animal harvesting skill can't get enough hide from a falumpaset to cover an ottoman, it seems there is something wrong.
