Thread: I can't make BER 10's or 13's!
I'm using:
Lube Oil
Steel HR 956 MA 371 SH 979 UT 966
Ore HR 946 MA 462 SH 938 UT 910
+14 crafting tool, +42.5 crafting station.
I start by using 8 points in the first experiment and 1 on the second. Two 'great' results give me a 13. I then use the last point on the hopper.
I end up with 13s about 60% of the time, 12 about 30%, and 11s about 10%. When I get a 13, I make a schematic. And yes - you really want to make schematics for heavies these days. It pays for itself pretty quickly. Of course, you want to make a big run of turbines and SSSMs' first so you can use the schematic for a long time.
Before you go off mining Lube oil - have a look at the stats on the ore/light oremining units you are using. These need to be Base 6...and if they aren't, you wont get a BER10 or BER13 unit.
To get these, you need a very good inert gas (with a good OQ), and excellent (>900 HR/UT/SR) Metals.
Then when you are making the harvestors themselves, you need decent chems that have either >900SR if available, or a decent >900 OQ if SR is not available (as well as (>900 HR/UT/SR metals) . Using crap lube oil will make your harvs worse.
Also pay attention to the quality of your crafting tool and station. If you are using a -x.xx station, you will never make a BER10 or 13 unit.
Give me a call ingame if you want a hand - happy to help ![]()
1) Get the OMU or LOMU as high as your resources allow. Dont stop experimenting as soon as you hit BER 6. The higher the experimentation in this component, the lower the required experimentation on your final needs to be.
2) The only stats that matter are HR, SR, and UT, with UT being the most important(25/25/50). The OQ on lube oil has no bearing whatsoever on the experimentation. My current batch of heavy chem 13sis built with a 98% experimented TFDP, using lube oil that has an OQ of 126. If a resource you're using doesnt have a stat listed on the schematic, it doesnt count against you.
StuntmanKDr, I will come to you sometime...
Also, I started mining the lube oil before you started mining.
As a side note... I thought that you could only get LOMU's to 5... And, I could only get to 90% before lube oil (which I havn't tried yet...) which gave me a 4. Maybe this was my problem.
Thank you for all of your help, I will post an update tomorrow on whether I get a BER 10!
Experiment the LOMU as high as you can go - ignore the "rate" - get that percentage as high as possible. Then during final assembly, as soon as the rate goes to 10, stop there and (if you want) put any points into storage.
Stuman, the quality of the inert gas has never affected my OMUs... I've always used the grind quality stuff, and never gotten anything but a 6 on the omu
Also another thing, also for you Stuman,
There have been many tests conducted that show that crafting tools and/or stations do not effect experimentation OR crit fails.
My personal tests have shown the same results.
Needless to say I do use 14.xx tools and 43.xx stations just incase the devs stealth fix it ![]()
The stats matter, However how much they matter depends on 2 things
How important a stat it is to experimentation ( eg. 25% 50% ) which makes UT more important on its own.
Also how much of that material is used. the quality of 100 units is not as important as say 250 units.
Try to get all good materials, but the carbonate ore, and metals are more important.
Most of my materials are in the 900 range and I rarely fail at making a 10 med or a 13 Heavy. I also use good quality crafting tools and a very good crafting station.
The quality of the generarot turbines, walls, structural modues and storage compartments dont matter at all.
Good now if you still have a lot of those materails and components turn a 10 BER into a schematic ( have lots of components built first ). Then your factory will crank out 10 BER mediums ![]()
This is the only way I make harvestors, if I cant make 11 ( comes out to 10 after the schematic ) then I dont make any.
