Thread: I can't make BER 10's or 13's!
I just made a BER 13!
And, I will make a schematic after I get more lube oil...

Do you have any hard evidence to back this up? At the moment, for my medium harvesters I'm starting to use a lower grade metal for the LOMUs (conserving my stocks of uber stuff). I had no trouble getting a +4 LOMU, and I'm hoping that that will be sufficient. I'll report back if I see a major difference between how hard it is to make a BER-10 with a 'barely +4' vs one that's more highly experimented.'
Neilla,
I am intersted in the results of your harvestors. I too use the higest quality materials and fully experiment my mining units even after I reach 4, ( or 6 ). It would be nice to know if I actually need to do that. I ceratinly stop experimenting on my final extractors once they hit 10 ( or 13 ).

To get these, you need a very good inert gas (with a good OQ), and excellent (>900 HR/UT/SR) Metals.
Then when you are making the harvestors themselves, you need decent chems that have either >900SR if available, or a decent >900 OQ if SR is not available (as well as (>900 HR/UT/SR metals) . Using crap lube oil will make your harvs worse.
Also pay attention to the quality of your crafting tool and station. If you are using a -x.xx station, you will never make a BER10 or 13 unit.
Give me a call ingame if you want a hand - happy to help
You only need 775+ metals on the harvesting components (ore, harvester, fludic). All you have to do to max them is crack 75%.
However on the harvesters themselves to get the full bonus I usually have to crack 92% and for this my final resources need to be 900+ plus the lubricating oil.
Betatoxin:
If you would experiment your mining units higher, you wouldnt need to experiment your harvesters as high. Give it a try. I know the BER rating doesnt actually change, but it does make a difference. As I said in a previous post, I used a 98% TFDP for my heavy chems, and hit BER 13 around 78%.

The final experimentation percentage on the mining component definitely affects how easy it is to get to the top BER. With my previous 96% LOMUs, I needed a great result with 8 experimentation points to get to BER-8. With my more recent LOMUS (something like 88%) I need a great result with 9 experimentation points. Not the end of the world - it costs me 2k on hopper capacity, which doesn't bother people very much.
