Man this is going to be great - because our businesses can reach more people - but its going to be tough because your going to see the economies of every server come into balance real fast as the price war starts.

Wow, I really see potential in this system. It's much easier for the buyer, since he can just take the cheapest item available. No more looking at empty vendors, always getting the item you need in a flash. For the seller it can be great too, IF you sell things that are either not much available, or when you're cheap.

However, the first thing that came to my mind when I read this was, why would I now even bother with decorating my store? I can just take a small house, drop some random vendors in there and make them searchable. That's the only thing I do not like about this. Cause I can be so well-stocked, from now on people will first check the bazaar instead of coming to my store.

So then we'll see big differences

I saw some furniture the other day (by another architect), the Round couch was going for 6k, and I put those for 1.2k

Please post in merchant feedback thread here.

And think of how great it will be that everyone no longer travels to your shop,

that only the lowest sellers get sales

that the impulse buys from browseing a vendor are gone

that player cities that are clinging to exist via their vendors are no longer visited...

This is a total disaster to crafters as it stands. Not just from the profit p.o.v, but from the whole "fun" and immersion standpoint of setting up a shop. Fine, I'll just stick my vendors right next to my crafting station...

Lots of different ways to take this.

On one hand, I agree with everyones complaints about the stores. I do feel that this will impact player cities in a bad way.

On the other hand, my shop is on Lok. Now don't get me wrong, I do well enough to afford the best of everything, but my sales will probablly increase because customers no longer have to travel to my shop.

I have very mixed feeling on this the more I think about it.

Why be a merchant?

Why take Hiring or advertising now when you are just buying all your crap from SWG Ebay?

This guts another non fighting profession and given other changes that bolloxed architects tends to indicate SOE are looking to turn this into Battlefront. Pretty soon if you can't shoot sh1t, you're done

Bleh. Been playing since launch. Not sure if I am gonna quit but I didn't stay here to have it turn into EQ in space either.

Wow, you put down customers really well. I don't think the lowest sellers will always get the sales, come on, be honest. You think everyone will buy the cheapest item because its is the cheapest? I buy items that have the stats and quality i want. Now if its the losest price, oh yeah i will buy, but i won't buy the cheapest harvester just because it is low priced. I buy the best quality i can get for the lowest price.

It will really cause crafters to price according to the economy more, and the quality of items. But it will help in reducing the constant search for an item that for some unforsaken reason, no one decided to stock in a vendor anywhere but in the most remote forgotten spot. Now, it will make some things easier to find, and make the competition re-think the cost of things.

I do not for see all items dropping, i honestly see many vendors raising prices, many vendors won't even advertise since they are exclusive, they like small amount of customers. Heck, if you are always top notch quality and guarenty to be stocked, you will less likely put up the search and then be sold out constatly. Oh, and the low ballers will never be able to keep up with supply.

It will cause ripples, but in the end, it will stablize and might make your business boom even more. who knows. Don't cry wolf till the dust settles first.

Not everything sold has 'quality' and this isnt about the buyers, its about the sellers. I am not thinking of credits lost to prices that are lower as much as sells lost to being overlooked.

This will not cause crafters to price by economy, thats is exactly why we have prices we do, is because people can afford it. this will however allow bulk producers and guild hoards the abilty to flood a market without the personalization we are fighting for

It still comes down to haveing a shop front, the players who do not have the abilty to produce what the market can offer and are stuck away in their own niche will loose out. This proposed system allows people to buy from compettition from your own vendors in your own shop.

It will cause ripples, but in the end, it will stablize and might make your business boom even more. who knows. Don't cry wolf till the dust settles first.

It isn't crying wolf, asI fully endorse all who want it to voice their opinions as well,I am more for the public to be aware of everything it entails before cheering on a publis they did not fully read.

BAD BAD BAD

I just can't see the positive aspect of this for crafters. This is possibly the worst idea I've seen since I started playing in December '03.

I really don't want to type everything out again, so here are my feelings: (cut and pasted from the original feedback thread)

Please, I am down on my knees begging you to *not* do this!

I run a mall for my city, and keep 8 fully stocked clothing and furniture vendors in this mall. I have spent who knows how long decorating my mall, dressing my vendors, etc. to make the mall beautiful. With this change, it all becomes pointless. Imight as welljust drop one vendor in the basement of my guild hall/mall, put everything on it, and destroy all of my decorations, as no one will ever actually visit a shop again. I enjoy having people drop by my mall, and have recieved many compliments on the decorations and the well-stocked vendors. With this change, people will be buying from a faceless bazaar, and will never see a hint of personality. Yet another way to avoid human contact and play a solo game.

I fear the effects this will have on sales. Those of us with low prices will sellout every 24 hours, forcing us to constantly make items for restocking. Those of us with high prices (such as myself) will never get business again. People will just buy from the cheapest place. I see that especially with clothing. One tailor stocking hood-up cloaks in black for 100 creds would completely destroy every other tailor's business across the entire server.

As for effects on player cities, most of the traffic we get in our city is because of the mall. We don't have much else to offer besides the things which every other city has. The city is already a ghost town because of the Jedi grind, now what reason does anyone have to come visit?

I worry about the effect this will have on the little crafters. One large crafter, or group of crafters, could concievably create a monopoly on certain products by supplying them at incredibly cheap prices. There's no way that a small-time crafter, just starting out, can ever beat their prices. They will go out of business as soon as they start.

This is a HUGE mistake.

PLEASE DON'T DO THIS!

I'm going to wait and see how this pans out before I rush to judgement. Even then, the last "death blow to our profession" didn't hurt me as much as I had thought. I still sell plenty of houses and such and I realize that I may have made a rush to judge.

Still, if this does hurt us, I WILL complain.
