I think I didn't interpret it this way when I read the patch notes, but I think you're right. Structures won't be destroyed now as long as the owner has credits in the bank, which means less structure sales for us in the long run.

I know the change was made to help the players that are forgetful, so they don't lose their precious items. However, in my opinion, paying maintenance is just another part of the game, and one that shouldn't be automated. What they should have done, is make it possible for the owner to retrieve his items from the structure once it has been flagged condemned, but they won't be able to use it otherwise. That way people don't lose their items, and structures still get destroyed eventually (because people can't use them). It's not a perfect solution, but it's a bit better than the other, in my opinion.

remember "condemned" means that the 5 Mil Credits on the bank account are already eaten up ...... so what yousuggest is granting them a chance to retrieve their items after doing absolutly nothing for maintainance of their property for 18+ years ...

cool ! I can resign from any ingame activity, get a family , grow up my son, and donate him
my medium house on Gorath on his 18th birthday ..... LOL ..... and if it happens that i should forget about the house, when my son opens my testament, he will find out, that i inherit him all my property and that he still can retrieve all the property from this house except for the house itsself .... anyone any more questions about the future of the architect profession ???

Beautiful! 5 stars for you!

I posted in the Politician forum and will do so here. I just cannot see why SOE is so hard up to please the 12 year old player that has no concept of responcibility. For 18 months, if we let something go, we got a CSR telling us, "Tough luck." Now, it's more like, "There there, we'll make sure it's still there for you..." Honestly, it's not a credit issue. Start a new toon and enter at Tyrena. Use Unarmed on NPC's 'til you hit UA3. By this point, you'll have about 8k minimum and a full inventorty of loot to see. Don't believe me? Try it. I did this the other night. I spent 4 hours on it and was upto almost 8k and had a full suit of Mabari Armor. (crap stats but armor none the less)

I guess I'm just getting sick of SOE totaly ignoring the paying customer and catering to the ones that have left and won't return.

It won't have much of an impact on me. I'm not crazy about making structures anyway, I much prefer doing furniture.

Well I think that "genocide" is just a tad bit of an over reaction.

I do agree this will cut into our business some. However, I don't know how much. What percentage of my vendor sales are from people who are replacing harvesters that they lost due to lack of maintenance? I'm having trouble figuring that percentage since I have virtually no data on the topic...

Yes it will have an impact. No it won't kill our profession entirely. We'll have to wait and see how much difference it will actually make.

About 50% of my harvestor and factory sales are replacing ones that burned down. It's about 90% of my repeat business, for obvious reasons.

Furniture and houses are less than 10% replacements for failed maintenance. People want a change of style or moved somewhere incompatible with their old house, or maybe they're truly new players.

A suggestion - make the "automated bank draft" for houses only, and perhaps factories. Harvestors are "dumb systems" that don't have a link to the Banking Guild's satellites.

well from what I read it mentions the house becomming condemed till you enter it again with enough credits to repair it. Now if that's the case then it won't apply to harvesters or factories. Also you'll still have a good repeat buisness from lot swapper's sinec it has to be the structure owners bank account. even if you bank tip him/ her the'yll have to log into that toon to actually get the money into their account.

It is going to be rough for us, but it won't be as bad as some think. Personal sales aside I do think it's a good idea at heart. How many of yuo had a structure go poof from no maintence that had some very important stuff in it? Imagine the guilds that have all thier vendors in the hall, someone forgets and everything is lost... this happened to my old guild. It was so devistating that it nearly caused 4 people to quit, loosing everything they owned except what they had on them.

I am going to be starting a thread on this subject and a few more concerning the latest patch to test.. It is very Important that as many people come back and discuss on that thread.. It should be up when I get home from work in about 4 hours.... So please take this time to gather your thoughts and get prepared to make your case...

The most effective posts are small to the pointed paragraphs so keep that in mind.. I will be forwarding the link to this thread that I create strait to the devs so keep short and precise

I am with Tim-The-Toolman on this one.

Houses going "poof" or not is not what is making or breaking our profession.

Dont you guys interpret the recent update notes for test center as a major mega nerf and final deathblow for our profession ? or am i missing or missunderstanding something ?

PlayerStructures

  • All maintenance fees will automatically attempt to deduct from Bank accounts after the maintenance pool has been depleted. Once a structure reaches 0 hitpoints, it will flag itself as condemned instead of deleting itself. Condemned houses are not enterable, and all other structures are not usable. To uncondemn a house, simply enter it with enough money in the bank to pay the repair cost. To uncondemn all other structures, use them with enough money in the bank to pay the costs.

to my eyes this means the business with any structure deed is gone for ever , for any furniture probably also

correct ?

i will drop architect, how about you ?
