I am not sure what kind of special resources we might obtain from a mining ship overgathering it on the ground.
Do you think it will add any changes to our profession?

Itis possible that they could make it so that architects contribute some part to the device that does the mining. Maybe we build a mining attachment for the ships. But I doubt it.
Given the recent track record it will probably not have any impact on our profession at all except for giving players an alternative to buying our harvesters.

So what you are saying, is you're a "glass half empty" kind of guy?

From what I can tell, we should be more like "hey look someone broke my glass again!"

There might be a credit or two to be made, IF the oremining units in the ships are a replaceable and decayable subcomponent, and made by Archs. Other than that, just another ship.

I'd have to describe myself as a "glass totally empty" kind of guy when it comes to space mining missions.
I expect the missions to require no special ship type (not even transport capability), no requirement to dock, rendezvous, or even slow down, just fly past the general vicinity of a waypoint at max speed to"loot" some quantity of resource. I have no expectationsas to whether or not the resourceswill be various kindsof "unobtainium" needed for making special things, or generally useful stuff. I expect the resources to compete with planet-mined resources, ifthey aregenerally useful.
My reason for this is that I see a general trend toward dumbing-down (excuuuuuse me, simplifying)the game in the "vision" for the combat upgrade, and I see this as necessarily fitting into the general trend.
I will be pleasantly surprised should I be proved wrong.

When I first heard that Shipwright was coming into game(way way back)I got really excited about the prospect of myself being Architect/Shipwright thinking spaceships are huge it would have to be a joint effort from many profrssionsthis would be so kool I(as an archi)would make the walls n maybe the interior components like cabin furnishings etc other elite masters in our guildwould make different items likeArmorsmiths &Weaponsmiths making the guns, armor n launchers etc
then the shipwright would combine it all
This was going to be such a kool profession all of us working together to make these great ships a real community crafting project
well as it turns out my initial assumptions turned out to be pure flight of fantasy and a fair amount of dissapointment aswell
I would like to hope that maybe the architect side of my template gets at least a look in on the miner ships but the chances of that seem slimmer than us getting colour options for furniture

Not sure what thepoint isfor more resource mining is unless there's a need for them. Without expanding resource requirements, adding new crafting professions, attracting more players and/or adding resource heavy schematics, what would the point be?

On the other hand, there could be resources that only spawned in low quality and concentration in pvp free for all zones. Might be a worthwhile addition to the game assuming the resources gathered were for some particular purpose like a new weapon or capital ship upgrade reactive armor.

Some people say the glass is half empty of water.
Some people say the glass is half full of water.
I say "W T F is this water?! I ordered a coke!"
It makes more sense then one could imagine if you think about it.

I've always been a "the glass is half empty so let's put ice in it and make it look full even though it's really not" kinda person.
