Thread: The Adopt-An-Architect project

Heya all,

I'm putting out an idea to all Master Architects and also Novices.
I feel this will help out beginning architects by providing a source of income and training, and will benefit architects as a whole because we won't have as many novices trying to get money by selling far below the average going rate.
So, I have devised teh Adopt-An-Architect project. This is where Masters take novices uner their wing and provide training in exchange for having the novices create sub-components that are needed for teh large structures, and also farming out some of the smaller requests (Like small houses and medium harvesters)
So, what I want is for architects to volunteer by posting here in this thread so the new architects know who is helping out.
Thanks all!

Kettemoor. I'll adopt anybody. I have way too many resources for the amount I play. Use em, grind em, give em back as walls, whatever. I'll pay you for your walls, with cred or resources.

Give me a tell if interested. Based in Moenia, Naboo.

Wow!

I'd just like to say that this is a very cool idea. I'm not an architect but I like the idea for all professions. Would be very nice to see more people get involved in this.

Well I'll put myself up for adoption. Name is Jaled on Tempest. I currently have Installations 2, and am very close to Buildings 1, should have it tonight. So if any masters are in need of walls, generators, etc, please drop me a line and I'll be happy to supply you.

Corvus Darkstryd did this for me on Valcyn, and I'm willing to do the same for a budding young Imperial Architect. find Pash Aylor, probably on Naboo.

The day that I got SWG (Actually the first day I was able to use it, I bought it just after Isabel hit before the lights came back on lol) I did a regional search for Architects and struck up a conversationa master. I've never had to ask for resources, but the information they gave me was very helpful. For that help, I decided from day one that I would sell components to them. (I'm not there yet, a little more grinding to do I'm only a part-time power gamer lol)

I've actually been thinking of an Architect's Supply Business model for myself (selling components and basic resources to other Architects). I think it might work too.

Not that I can do it yet, but how do you tenured Architects feel about buying components instead of running around getting the resources yourself. It would be risk avoidance for everyone, because you only have the final combine, and I would do the comps.

I am a master architect on Ahazi and would be willing to discuss a business arangement with a novice architect. I actually had an apprentice but she had to start school and basically stopped playing. Shoot me an email or tell in game. I am loathe to pay for wall modules as I can still fail and lose everything. I would much rather provide resources and give a percentage of building sales but we can work this all out if anyone's interested.

I currently have 2 apprentices working for me on Shadowfire (haven't heard from one in awhile) but I am interested and ready to take on at least 2 more at this time.

My policy is that I buy wall units offered to my vendorby novices for 10k and I provide them with free training advice ect.. as well.

I encourage my novices to build their own business and market while setting a cpu rate for walls that makes low ballingnon profitable. On my side I recieve additional supplies so that I can more quickly fill orders for larger items.

I'm happy to refer business for small houses and factories to my apprentices if I know they wish to have the orders and can fulfill them.

I've done this for 3 architects now on the Eclipse server. Works like a charm. Pretty much just have folks kick out structural modules while I'm loading my factory for walls. My first apprentice made 15 walls for me (back when they had to be identical)...he proceeded to cover every square inch of floor in his medium naboo house with structural modules.Up the stairs, around the balcony, etc. Most hilarious

Another nice and easy way to do it, without risk of scams or what-not, is have them bring you completed walls in exchange for more materials. I usually cover the build cost, fail cost, and a little something extra, plus the free training. Best part of that arrangement is everyone runs into a job they can't cover from time to time, and you know just who to pass that on to then. Have em do all the sub-component legwork and do the final build for them if they lack the skill (gotta trust one another for this one to work tho)

PS This was more to say it's worked and everyone leaves happy, I'm too swamped now to adopt anyone Sorry Ariwa!
