How many architects are planning on going into the Urban Planner profession once player cities are added to the game? It is an elite-elite profession (see the article on the home page), so I image only a small percentage of Master Architects will get to master this profession. Seeing as there are already few architects in the game (at least on Scylla server), how well will list profession be received? Will more people jump to it because it is new and different? I know it will be a good goal, considering mayors will need the profession to build their player city infrastructure. What do you think?

I'll probably become one, simply because my other class, creature handler, is going to become completely worthless before too long.

I'm going to become one. There are a lot of architects on Radiant though so I expect quite a few people to go into it

All depends on whether they make it require as many skill pts as a normal profession or not.

Mastering 3 professions and dabbling in a fourth is what was designed, so you should be able to keep some of your carbine skills. But yeah, it will make it hard for us to have a lot of skills in other professions...

I plan on being a master no matter what. I started a town on my server of Lowca, so we need someone to, and im the current Master Architect. I was going to be Mayor, but I don't think I would have enough skill points, so the other founder of Midgar(my town) is going to go up the new Mayor branch.

Probly not, right now there is little profit versus the hassle of being an Architect. I just don't like being a slave to my harvesters and current prices demand I self mine to be competitive. I have just decided when I hit master today to stop building structures completely.

Once the prices get to normal and the 2.5-3c sellers have bankrupted themselves out of business and 5 becomes the norm, I'll get back into that part of the game. If that never happens, I'll pick up whatever is needed to make vehicles.

Urban planner sounds to me to be a PA supported only class. I can just imagine the materials needed to build anything, probly dwarf a PA Hall resource wise. Not for your causal self supplying architect.

I'm going to have to disagree with you, Zeck, on your last point. From just looking at PA halls (from the outside and inside), I would say they are probably one of the largest buildings that can be built. The clues we get from the article say "Parks, hospitals, and even the city hall," which I would imagine wouldn't need to be as large (or larger) than a PA hall, or at least not require so many resources. How much metal would a park require, after all?

True, it will probably take a while to harvest the materials to build some of the structures (I am a self-supplying architect as well), but I'm guessing the demand will be there for those who want to go for urban planner.

First just about every PA will have an Urban Planner for there town's needs. This will be someone's first or second account and be used just for the urban planner. So there will be a lot of urban planners out there, they just won't ever be one. Already got my second account now, since my architech is done with skill points but is still needed for buildings for the guild.

Hopefully they add more skillpoints when adding elite elite professions.

Or that would make hybrid professions, but halfway quality apparent.
