Thread: Candle/Lamp Pricing: What is going to be a fair price?
SomeGuy99 wrote:hmm well what resources are to be used for it? Its a good question a more experienced architect could answer
Remember - the amount of resources determines your *COST* of making something. The only relationship between your COST and the PRICE you charge is that - in the long run - you need to have your PRICE greater than your COST (otherwise you go out of business).
I haven't figured out my final pricing for these yet. Right now torches fly off my vendor at 800 credits each (on Wanderhome), and although they don't decay it seems like most people would prefer to have other lights in their "modern" structures rather than smokey torches. So yes, I think that 1000-2000 credits is a good ballpark for the lights.
but then i also have to figure out what to do with all the GP elector modules i bought a couple of months ago anticipating the lamps...
what kind of galaxy do we live in that torches take microprocessors and electric lamps are made with chicken bones and cow intestines

I give away torches for 500 cr. And streetlamps for 1800 cr. These new lamps and candles I will have to think about. I assume they will require ~60 secs each in structure factory time. The higher the factory time they require, the higher I will price them, since the only way to keep up with demand willbevia the factory. The trouble is, I usually have struct mods running every night. If demand is crazy high, this is goingto mean I need to log in the morning to fire up the factory on these.
My factory's time is one of my most valued assets.
I do think sales will be brisk at first, but overall will be pretty slow. I'm not even sure I will personally use them. Probably I'll put them in the town mall, but not in my own house, which is tastefully decorated, but seen by very few people, now that I've moved into a mall. That's the biggest target audience I see...the professional merchant that cares about the look of their store.

I base my prices on what makes it fun for me. I rarely put anything on my vendor for less than 5k or else it's not worth my time and therefore not fun. I don't worry about my customers not being able to afford my products because that's what mission terminals are for.
LOL... Same here!
